Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. Chronic care manages long-term, progressive conditions, while acute care addresses short-term conditions. Chronic conditions increasingly strain health systems, which are often unprepared for these demands. This study examines the burden of conditions requiring acute versus chronic care, including sequelae. Conditions and sequelae from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 were classified into acute or chronic care categories. Data were analysed by age, sex, and socio-demographic index, presenting total numbers and contributions to burden metrics such as Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), Years Lived with Disability (YLD), and Years of Life Lost (YLL). Approximately 68% of DALYs were attributed to chronic care, while 27% were due to acute care. Chronic care needs increased with age, representing 86% of YLDs and 71% of YLLs, and accounting for 93% of YLDs from sequelae. These findings highlight that chronic care needs far exceed acute care needs globally, necessitating health systems to adapt accordingly. © 2025. The Author(s).

In this work, we studied the functionalized por-Si/Ag composite structures by the contact angle method using the 'Contact Angle Measurement System JGW-360A'. The hydrophobic / hydrophilic properties of the studied structures were analyzed. Were studied changes in surface functional groups with various functionalization methods. Wetting gulls were also determined for different series of samples: porous silicon (θ ≈ 580), a porous matrix with a silver layer (θ ≈ 340), and a porous matrix functionalized by electro-thermal diffusion (θ ≈ 410). Were drawn the conclusions about the effect of oxide phases on the hydrophobic/hydrophilic properties of the studied samples.

Cloud-aided state estimation of a full-car semi-active suspension system

In this work, we investigate a state estimation problem for a full-car semi-active suspension system. To account for the complex calculation and optimization problems, a vehicle-to-cloud-to-vehicle (V2C2V) scheme is utilized. Moving horizon estimation is introduced for the state estimation system design. All the optimization problems are solved in a remotely-embedded agent with high computational ability. Measurements and state estimates are transmitted between the vehicle and the remote agent via networked communication channels. A signed network is a network with each link associated with a positive or negative sign. Models for nodes interacting over such signed networks, where two different types of interactions take place along the positive and negative links, respectively, arise from various biological, social, political, and economic systems. As modifications to the conventional DeGroot dynamics for positive links, two basic types of negative interactions along negative links, namely the opposing rule and the repelling rule, have been proposed and studied in the literature. This paper reviews a few fundamental convergence results for such dynamics over deterministic or random signed networks under a unified algebraic-graphical method. We show that a systematic tool of studying node state evolution over signed networks can be obtained utilizing generalized Perron-Frobenius theory, graph theory, and elementary algebraic recursions. In this paper, we deal with the problem of adaptive dispatching (distribution) of resources in a cloud computer environment (CCE). In particular, the CCE comprises heterogeneous computational resources and we consider the implementation of a flow of large-scale scientific tasks consisting of a set of information-dependent subtasks that enter the CCE at random times. We present an effective method for multiagent dispatching of CCE resources that can be employed when CCE resources have different performances for different tasks and different channel bandwidths for connecting with cloud infrastructure. We give a formal definition of the problem of CCE dispatching for these conditions and suggest principles of its solution using a set of program agents that are physically implemented on separate CCE resources and that represent their "interests" during dispatch. We introduce the developed algorithm of a program agent as a multiagent dispatcher providing adaptive distribution of all currently free CCE computational resources among the tasks of the flow, taking into consideration their real performances and channel capacities. We further present experimental results obtained using a program model of a heterogeneous CCE.

Many motor skills have an intrinsic, low-dimensional parameterization, e.g. reaching through a grid to different targets. Repeated policy search for new parameterizations of such a skill is inefficient, because the structure of the skill variability is not exploited. This issue has been previously addressed by learning mappings from task parameters to policy parameters. In this work, we introduce a bootstrapping technique that establishes such parameterized skills incrementally. The approach combines iterative learning with state-of-the-art black-box policy optimization. We investigate the benefits of incrementally learning parameterized skills for efficient policy retrieval and show that the number of required rollouts can be significantly reduced when optimizing policies for novel tasks. The approach is demonstrated for several parameterized motor tasks including upper-body reaching motion generation for the humanoid robot COMAN.
