Impact Analysis of Electric Vehicles and Solar Distributed Generations in Power Systems Using Grey Relational Analysis and t- Stochastic Neighbour Embedding

The increasing prevalence of electric vehicles (EVs) presents challenges to the grid stability, particularly due to their uneven distribution throughout the network. This study investigates the impact of varying EV penetration levels and optimizes the placement of distributed generation (DG) and EVs to enhance grid voltage stability. A 24-hour load flow analysis using Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) software evaluates voltage stability, power losses, and ampere loading, providing input for grey relation analysis (GRA) to optimize DG and EV placement, with EVs modeled as both loads and sources. However, at 100% EV penetration, voltage drops by 7.5% during peak hours, and system losses increase by 15%. The use of DGs and EVs alleviates these challenges by enhancing the voltage profile to exceed 95% and decreasing system losses by 19%. Load flow results are further analyzed using the t- Stochastic Neighbour Embedding (t-SNE) machine learning algorithm, revealing deeper insights into system behavior and underlying patterns. The findings indicate that higher EV penetration enhances power system voltage stability and efficiency, with strategic DG placement and time-of-use strategies being essential for minimizing voltage drops, reducing losses and optimizing grid performance. ©2025 The author(s).

Various components utilized in the automobile dashboard controls are manufactured from plastic by a conventional molding process. With the recent trend and continuously changing designs of the components due to frequently upgraded models, the conventional process of manufacture of these components proves costly owing to the high investment in molds. The technology which has taken attention for these demanding conditions is the Fused Deposition or 3-D printing technology in development and manufacture of plastic components for ready use direct assembly which bypasses the process of mold manufacture and then subsequent plastic molding which is many times involves a considerable amount of production time and high production cost. The strength of the components produced by the 3-D printing method is seen to be greatly influenced by the infill density, print quality, and layer thickness. The depositing parameters have been studied in various studies but they failed to characterize the geometrical arrangement permutations through the addition of internal support structures to enhance the torsion strength of the components. The paper discusses a review of research work over the years proposes the first stage design and analysis of the plain component using Ansys workbench and also the manufacturing of these plain elements with various permutations of infill density, layer thickness, and print quality. The components thus produced will be tested and compared for optimal deposition parameters. By considering the gathered data, an optimization model that realizes the material usage, build time, strength characteristics, and their related variables will be presented and used to assist the components with optimal deposition parameters which will be further considered for design with internal support structures with the incorporation of varied parametric internal structure matrix. © 2022

Design, Development and Experimental Investigation of H-rotor Vertical Axis Wind Turbine under Low Wind Speeds

H-rotor vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) are prominent wind energy converters for low wind speed applications due to their simple blade profile and efficient operation under turbulent wind conditions. This paper focuses on the design and development of H-rotor VAWT and its performance evaluation under low wind speeds. H-rotor VAWT is modelled in CATIA-v5 software with predetermined parameters such as blade profile, blade span, blade chord and turbine diameter for 25 W output power. Turbine blades are fabricated using low-cost and light-weight aluminium sheets and the H-rotor VAWT is developed using simple in-house fabrication techniques. A controlled wind environment with a wind speed range of 2.5 to 6.5 m/s is created using industrial fan blowers regulated by an autotransformer. The performance of the prototype is evaluated in terms of tip speed ratio (λ), output power (P), output torque (T) and Cp by varying the number of blades from two to five. The effect of solidity (quantified by variation in the number of blades) on the performance of the H-rotor VAWT is evaluated using different turbine characteristics. Reduced cut-in speed, high starting torque, increase in optimum λ and Cp are recorded for higher turbine solidity and an increase in the number of blades. However, this is attained at the expense of reduced peak power output for H-rotor models with a number of blades greater than three. The work presented in this paper would help researchers to design, develop, and perform experimental investigation and standardization of H-rotor VAWT for low wind speed operations. © (2023), (International Journal of Renewable Energy Research). Melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer known for its rapid spread, poses a significant threat and is responsible for a substantial number of fatalities. The accurate classification of cancer stages is crucial for effective diagnosis, particularly during surgical treatment. This paper introduces two methods for categorizing melanoma cancer stages. Initial system distinguishes between stage 1 and stage 2, while the second system extends the classification to include stage 3 melanoma. Leveraging a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm, the proposed system incorporates the Similarity Measure for Text Processing (SMTP) as a loss function. The experimental results showcase the efficacy of different loss functions, with a particular focus on the proposed SMTP loss function, which outperforms several others designed for classification problems. This algorithm stands out as a more efficient approach for melanoma stage classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Mixed-matrix membrane designed with water channels and sieving effect for effective removal of heavy metals

The challenge of eliminating heavy metal ions from water has been addressed using Polysulfone (PSf) membranes, which have demonstrated significant potential in treating contaminated solutions. This research aimed to improve the permeability and separation performance of PSf membranes by incorporating Al₂SiO₆ into their structure. The introduction of Al₂SiO₆ into the membrane matrix was achieved through the nonsolvent-induced phase separation (NIPS). The resulting mixed-matrix membrane (MMM) exhibited improved efficiency in water filtration. The inclusion of Al₂SiO₆ led to desirable changes in membrane properties such as hydrophilicity, contact angle and porosity, thereby enhancing the performance of heavy metal ion removal capability. Under a pressure of 2 bar, the mixed matrix membranes achieved rejections exceeding 95 % for lead and 70 % for arsenic. Furthermore, the occurrence of Al₂SiO₆ enhanced the anti-fouling assets of the PSf membrane by increasing its hydrophilic nature and facilitating the development of a hydration layer, which tends to prevent the interactions between the membrane surface and foulant. These properties make these membranes suitable candidates for separating toxic ions from water. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Electric vehicles (EV) and distributed generation (DG) have shaped the future of energy production and transportation. By integrating EVs with DGs into the grid, we can store electricity during off-peak hours and supply it during on-peak hours, contributing to voltage stabilization and reduced losses. This study investigates the influence of solar DGs, EVs as a load, and EVs as a source on key performance indices such as voltage and grid losses. Three cases are discussed: placing DGs at appropriate places in the test system, the influence of EVs as a load during daytime, and lastly the influence of EVs as a source at night when there are no solar DGs. The IEEE 33 bus system was used for the study, and simulation is conducted using ETAP software. The findings indicate that when EVs are connected to the power grid as a load during daytime, drop in the voltage profile and an increase in losses can be observed. This is mitigated by solar DGs. Conversely, at night when the load increases, EVs can be utilized as a source to maintain the voltage profile. The Grey Relation Analysis (GRA) method is used to place DGs and EVs as sources at night. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As wireless connectivity technology advanced, wireless sensor technologies also became more frequently used in many societal sectors. This research introduces wireless sensors to the world of health care systems, and we present a sensor network-based medical imaging. Through the communication system, it may send the participant's physiological data as well as pictures to the healthcare monitoring ground station, allowing for continuous pathologic growth tracking and prompt treatment diagnosis. We discussed the use of remote sensing techniques in the remote health care surveillance system and expanded on the ideas for its implementation on the theory of sensor networks, present circumstances, and trends in China's medical care. The design of a network infrastructure, the OS with the interposes communication, as well as the software are the challenges of a wireless sensor network. Our suggested framework is capable of handling the issues in an acceptable manner. To evaluate the overall effectiveness of the model, the suggested approach is contrasted with other recent methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Fast progress in both smart devices with limited resources and state-of-the-art communication methods have helped establish the Internet of Things (IoT) as the gold standard for low-power lossy networks. However, because to the low computing, storage, and networking capabilities of the endpoint devices, these networks are susceptible to cyber assaults. IoT network security solutions are often rendered ineffective since many attacks are produced by slightly modifying previously known assaults. With their superior performance, deep learning algorithms have seen rapid adoption in security applications in recent years. In this paper, we introduce the IoT-IDCS-CNN, a brand new, unsupervised deep learning-based method for detecting and categorising cyberattacks in IoT communication networks. The system uses high-performance computing on dependable Nvidia GPUs, and parallel processing on fast Intel CPUs. It is structured into three parts: a traffic classification module, a feature learning module, and a refinement module for engineering features. Each part is developed independently and then tested and combined to create the complete system. © 2023 IEEE.
