Efficient energy management is a cornerstone of advancing cognitive cities,where AI,IoT,and cloud computing seamlessly integrate to meet escalating global energy *** this context,the ability to forecast electricity consumption with precision is vital,particularly in residential settings where usage patterns are highly variable and *** study presents an innovative approach to energy consumption forecasting using a bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)*** a dataset containing over twomillionmultivariate,time-series observations collected froma single household over nearly four years,ourmodel addresses the limitations of traditional time-series forecasting methods,which often struggle with temporal dependencies and non-linear *** bidirectional LSTM architecture processes data in both forward and backward directions,capturing past and future contexts at each time step,whereas existing unidirectional LSTMs consider only a single temporal *** design,combined with dropout regularization,leads to a 20.6%reduction in RMSE and an 18.8%improvement in MAE over conventional unidirectional LSTMs,demonstrating a substantial enhancement in prediction accuracy and *** to existing models—including SVM,Random Forest,MLP,ANN,and CNN—the proposed model achieves the lowest MAE of 0.0831 and RMSE of 0.2213 during testing,significantly outperforming these *** results highlight the model’s superior ability to navigate the complexities of energy usage patterns,reinforcing its potential application in AI-driven IoT and cloud-enabled energy management systems for cognitive *** integrating advanced machine learning techniqueswith IoT and cloud infrastructure,this research contributes to the development of intelligent,sustainable urban environments.

Network updates have become increasingly prevalent since the broad adoption of software-defined networks(SDNs)in data *** TCP designs,including cutting-edge TCP variants DCTCP,CUBIC,and BBR,however,are not resilient to network updates that provoke flow *** this paper,we first demonstrate that popular TCP implementations perform inadequately in the presence of frequent and inconsistent network updates,because inconsistent and frequent network updates result in out-of-order packets and packet drops induced via transitory congestion and lead to serious performance *** look into the causes and propose a network update-friendly TCP(NUFTCP),which is an extension of the DCTCP variant,as a *** are used to assess the proposed *** findings reveal that NUFTCP can more effectively manage the problems of out-of-order packets and packet drops triggered in network updates,and it outperforms DCTCP considerably.

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide,significantly impairing motor and cognitive *** rehabilitation is often hindered by the heterogeneity of stroke lesions,variability in recovery patterns,and the complexity of electroencephalography(EEG)signals,which are often contaminated by *** classification of motor imagery(MI)tasks,involving the mental simulation of movements,is crucial for assessing rehabilitation strategies but is challenged by overlapping neural signatures and patient-specific *** address these challenges,this study introduces a graph-attentive convolutional long short-term memory(LSTM)network(GACL-Net),a novel hybrid deep learning model designed to improve MI classification accuracy and ***-Net incorporates multi-scale convolutional blocks for spatial feature extraction,attention fusion layers for adaptive feature prioritization,graph convolutional layers to model inter-channel dependencies,and bidi-rectional LSTM layers with attention to capture temporal *** on an open-source EEG dataset of 50 acute stroke patients performing left and right MI tasks,GACL-Net achieved 99.52%classification accuracy and 97.43%generalization accuracy under leave-one-subject-out cross-validation,outperforming existing state-of-the-art ***,its real-time processing capability,with prediction times of 33–56 ms on a T4 GPU,underscores its clinical potential for real-time neurofeedback and adaptive *** findings highlight the model’s potential for clinical applications in assessing rehabilitation effectiveness and optimizing therapy plans through precise MI classification.

With the growing adoption of cloud computing in both public and private sector enterprises, the industry has experienced rapid expansion. To fully unlock the potential of cloud computing, efficient task scheduling becomes crucial. In cloud computing, task scheduling involves optimizing the allocation of tasks to a diverse range of resources, such as virtual machines, with the goals of reducing makespan, maximizing resource utilization, and minimizing response times. This challenge becomes even more pronounced for large-scale tasks due to the NP-hard nature of the problem. Consequently, the integration of metaheuristic algorithms into task scheduling has emerged as a solution to equitably distribute complex and diverse tasks across limited resources within acceptable timeframes. To enhance the quality of cloud computing services, this research introduces the modified white shark optimizer (mWSO) as an alternative task scheduling technique. The improved variant mWSO boosts the performance of the original WSO by introducing the following three enhancement steps: (1) introduce memory-based WSO to boost the exploitation phase, (2) propose an exploration-exploitation balance phase to enhance the exploration phase, and (3) introduce a control randomization parameter to balance exploration and exploitation properly. The mWSO is subjected to testing on both the global optimization problems from CEC2020 and cloud task scheduling problems. The experimental results of mWSO demonstrate high performance for CEC2020 competition benchmarks compared to other state-of-the-art and recent metaheuristic algorithms. In the case of the task scheduling problem, the mWSO achieved − 0.01 to 13.53% and 0.62–10.42% makespan and energy consumption reduction, respectively, for CEA-Curie workloads. For HPC2N workloads, mWSO achieved 7.27–29.53% makespan reduction and 3.52–26.08% energy savings over the compared metaheuristics. The effectiveness of behavior change support systems (BCSS) in promoting health and well-being is unflinching. However, its long-term effectiveness is hindered by non-compliance. Research in BCSS that focuses on compliance is scarce, particularly the determinants of compliance intention are not well established. To address this gap, this study investigated the determinants of compliance intention in BCSS by extending the persuasive system design model to include competence, effectiveness, enjoyment, and persuasiveness. By surveying a sample of prospective BCSS users (N=234), partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to evaluate the proposed model. The findings suggest that the prospective users’ perceptions of primary task support and dialogue support, as well as social support and credibility support significantly influenced their perceptions of self-competence and system effectiveness respectively. These perceptions influenced enjoyment, then persuasiveness, and finally compliance intention. In the modern era of a growing population,it is arduous for humans to monitor every aspect of sports,events occurring around us,and scenarios or *** recognition of different types of sports and events has increasingly incorporated the use of machine learning and artificial *** research focuses on detecting and recognizing events in sequential photos characterized by several factors,including the size,location,and position of people’s body parts in those pictures,and the influence around those *** approaches utilized,here are feature descriptors such as MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions),SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transform),and DOF(degree of freedom)between the joint points are applied to the skeleton ***,for the same purposes,other features such as BRISK(Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints),ORB(Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF),and HOG(Histogram of Oriented Gradients)are applied on full body or *** integration of these techniques increases the discriminative nature of characteristics retrieved in the identification process of the event,hence improving the efficiency and reliability of the entire *** extracted features are passed to the early fusion and DBscan for feature fusion and *** deep belief,network is employed for *** results demonstrate a separate experiment’s detection average recognition rate of 87%in the HMDB51 video database and 89%in the YouTube database,showing a better perspective than the current methods in sports and event identification.
