Most existing routing algorithms assume wireless nodes use maximal transmission power or set up the power at the beginning of the network configuration. These static approaches potentially introduce signal interference that can be mitigated through power control. In this paper, we propose a Joint Channel assignment, stable Routing and adaptive Power control (JCRP) approach that dynamically controls the transmission power to avoid the channel interference for improving the channel utility. Our JCRP allows a node to control its transmission power to a certain value at which it has a longest channel conflict-free time. Besides, we propose a novel routing metric integrated selecting stability (ISS) to measure the quality of links, which considers node mobility and channel interference, together with the dynamical power control. The simulation results demonstrate that our JCRP significantly outperforms the related routing algorithms in terms of network throughput.

Benzaldehyde is a chemical of significant importance in a variety of industries, which is mainly manufactured from toluene. In this work, authors develop process flowsheets in terms of profit for the production of benzaldehyde from toluene via process-network synthesis by deploying an algorithmic method based on P-graphs. First, the best reaction combination for the production process in terms of profit is obtained. Second, a set of operating units that can perform the process is identified;the corresponding maximal structure is constructed with the P-graph representations of these operating units. Third, the optimal and near-optimal flowsheets in terms of profit are algorithmically identified from the maximal structure. Copyright © 2015, AIDIC Servizi S.r.l.,.

A new global nonlinear predictor with a particle swarm-optimized interval support vector regression (PSO-ISVR) is proposed to address three issues (viz., kernel selection, model optimization, kernel method speed) encountered when applying SVR in the presence of large data sets. The novel prediction model can reduce the SVR computing overhead by dividing input space and adaptively selecting the optimized kernel functions to obtain optimal SVR parameter by PSO. To quantify the quality of the predictor, its generalization performance and execution speed are investigated based on statistical learning theory. In addition, experiments using synthetic data as well as the stock volume weighted average price are reported to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed models. The experimental results show that the proposed PSO-ISVR predictor can improve the computational efficiency and the overall prediction accuracy compared with the results produced by the SVR and other regression methods. The proposed PSO-ISVR provides an important tool for nonlinear regression analysis of big data.

While organizations strive to leverage the vast information generated daily from social media platforms and both decision makers and consultants are keen to identify and exploit this information's value, there has been little research into social media in the business context. Social media are diverse, varying in scope and functionality, this diversity entailing a complex of attributes and characteristics, resulting in confusion for both researchers and organizations. Taxonomies are important precursors in emerging fields and are foundational for rigorous theory building. Though aspects of social media have been studied from various discipline perspectives, this work has been largely descriptive. Thus, while the need for a rigorous taxonomy of social media is strong, previous efforts to classify social media suffer limitations - e.g. lack of a systematic taxonomic method, overreliance on intuition, disregard for the users' perspective, and inadequate consideration of purpose. Thus, this study was mainly initiated by the overarching question "How can social media in the business context be usefully classified?" In order to address this gap, the current paper proposes a systematic method for developing a taxonomy appropriate to study social media in organizations context, combining Nickerson et al,'s (2012) IS taxonomy building guidelines and a Repertory grid (RepGrid) approach.

We propose a review supporting system of trial lessons with image processing techniques. Candidates of a high/junior schoolteacher practice in the trial lesson. A subjective evaluation from the other candidates is used as a feedback of the lesson. However, the quality of the feedback result depends on the skill and experience of the evaluators. Review using a recorded video of the lesson can improve the skill of the candidate, however this method requires a long time. Therefore, we focus on an objective evaluation from a recorded video, in which the behavior is visualized in static images. The system provides the three processes, visualization of teacher movement, extraction of writing on blackboard, and blind spot alert. Our implemental approach is to calculate an optical flow indicating human movement, and to draw segment for visualization. An exclusive OR between previous and target frames is calculated for detecting a region of writing. The blind spot by the candidate is estimated with the human position and the region of the writing, and an alert is provided as visual information in the timing. The accuracy of the alert timing are about 80% of the precision and recall with the author visual judgment. In addition, some positive comments are obtained in a questionnaire result, and the availability is indicated in this paper. © 2015 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

The goal of General Game Playing (GGP) has been to develop computer programs that can perform well across various game types. It is natural for human game players to transfer knowledge from games they already know how to play to other similar games. GGP research attempts to design systems that work well across different game types, including unknown new games. In this review, we present a survey of recent advances (2011 to 2014) in GGP for both traditional games and video games. It is notable that research on GGP has been expanding into modern video games. Monte-Carlo Tree Search and its enhancements have been the most influential techniques in GGP for both research domains. Additionally, international competitions have become important events that promote and increase GGP research. Recently, a video GGP competition was launched. In this survey, we review recent progress in the most challenging research areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) related to universal game playing. © 2015 Maciej ͆wiechowski et al.

The goal of the present article is to investigate and assess the directions of customer profitability management of the Latvian commentarial banks, which are aimed at promoting bank customer centricity. To achieve the goal, the authors initially conducted content analysis of scientific literature on customer centricity. Based on the results of the content analysis, the following tasks were completed: 1) a survey questionnaire was developed, which was used in polling the customers of Latvian commercial banks with regard to bank customer centricity;2) a model refocusing product-centric customer segmentation to customer-centric segmentation was elaborated;3) customer bank account statements were analyzed;4) customer ecomap was developed. As a result of the survey conducted, it was concluded that customer centricity of the Latvian commercial banks is at the average level. In turn, the analysis of customer bank account statements, which was focused on customer centricity, demonstrated that bank customers can be classified according to these principles. As a result, three customer segment groups were identified. In the conclusion, the authors suggest elaborating ecomaps for the profitable customer segment group.
