This paper introduces our dedicated authenticated encryption scheme ICEPOLE. ICEPOLE is a high-speed hardware-oriented scheme, suitable for high-throughput network nodes or generally any environment where specialized hardware (such as FPGAs or ASICs) can be used to provide high data processing rates. ICEPOLE-128 (the primary ICEPOLE variant) is very fast. On the modern FPGA device Virtex 6, a basic iterative architecture of ICEPOLE reaches 41 Gbits/s, which is over 10 times faster than the equivalent implementation of AES-128-GCM. The throughput-to-area ratio is also substantially better when compared to AES-128-GCM. We have carefully examined the security of the algorithm through a range of cryptanalytic techniques and our findings indicate that ICEPOLE offers high security level. © International Association for Cryptologic Research 2014.

To reduce pre-bond and post-bond test cost for 3D IP (Three Dimensional Intellectual Property) cores, this paper proposed a test wrapper optimization technique using BFD(Best Fit Decreasing) and GA (Genetic Algorithm) algorithm under the constraints of TSVs(Through Silicon Vias) number, the proposed technique firstly used BFD to balance the length of pre-bond wrapper chains to reduce pre-bond test time. Then, on the basis of optimization results of pre-bond wrapper chains, the GA was used to stitch pre-bond wrapper chains to form balanced post-bond wrapper chains under the constrained TSVs number to reduce hardware overhead and post-bond test time. Experimental results demonstrated the presented methodology can effectively reduce hardware overhead at the cost of little increased test time. © 2014 IEEE.

Nowadays, multicore CPU become popular technology to enhance services quality in Web services. This paper characterizes parallel distributed XML processing which can off-load the amount of processing at their servers to networking nodes with varying number of CPU cores. Our implemented distributed XML processing system sends XML documents from a sender node to a server node through relay nodes, which process the documents before arriving at the server. When the relay nodes are connected in tandem, the XML documents are processed in a pipelining manner. When the relay nodes are connected in parallel, the XML documents are processed in a parallel fashion. For well-formedness and grammar validation tasks, the parallel processing reveals inherent advantages compared with pipeline processing regardless of document type, number of CPU cores and processing environment. Moreover, the number of CPU cores impacts efficiency of distributed XML processing via buffer access contention. Copyright © 2014 SCITEPRESS.

information systems supporting flexible business in small-to-medium enterprises must be easily modifiable under the supervision of their users. The users (business people) must take active part in agile system development and maintenance. The systems must be able to integrate large legacy systems and to communicate with the systems of independent business partners. Business processes need not be executed by a single ERP. We discuss a variant of SOA able to meet these requirements. The discussed SOA uses communication protocols based on problem-oriented languages. We propose a concept of organizational (architectural) services generalizing the concept of connectors and routers. The power and usefulness of the proposal is demonstrated on the examples of service composition, business-oriented interfaces, agile business processes, portals, and gateways. The proposal is based on experience from practical SOA projects.

In Large Area Air Shower experiments, one of EAS arrays is deployed on the second floor of four stories building in the campus of Okayama University of Science to limit the zenith angle acceptance of muon detection. This system provide EAS muon intensities from zenith solid angles. To compare these intensities with solar activities such as flares, CME and magneticstorms, LAAS data have been analyzed. Faster data acquisition with Ha/CaK solar telescope have also been carried out. In this presentation, cosmic ray variations for four years since 2011 are going to be reported as well as fast image data.

The fuzzy logic theory has been proven to be effective in dealing with various nonlinear systems and has a great success in industry applications. Among different kinds of models for fuzzy systems, the so-called Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model has been quite popular due to its convenient and simple dynamic structure as well as its capability of approximating any smooth nonlinear function to any specified accuracy within any compact set. In terms of such a model, the performance analysis and the design of controllers and filters play important roles in the research of fuzzy systems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the T-S fuzzy control and filtering problems with various network-induced phenomena. The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include communication delays, packet dropouts, signal quantization, and randomly occurring uncertainties (ROUs). With such network-induced phenomena, the developments on T-S fuzzy control and filtering issues are reviewed in detail. In addition, some latest results on this topic are highlighted. In the end, conclusions are drawn and some possible future research directions are pointed out. © 2015 Sunjie Zhang et al.

Debugging quantum processes using monitoring measurements

Since observation on a quantum system may cause the system state collapse, it is usually hard to find a way to monitor a quantum process, which is a quantum system that continuously evolves. We propose a protocol that can debug a quantum process by monitoring, but not disturb the evolution of the system. This protocol consists of an error detector and a debugging strategy. The detector is a projection operator that is orthogonal to the anticipated system state at a sequence of time points, and the strategy is used to specify these time points. As an example, we show how to debug the computational process of quantum search using this protocol. By applying the Skolem-Mahler-Lech theorem in algebraic number theory, we find an algorithm to construct all of the debugging protocols for quantum processes of time-independent Hamiltonians.

This Letter presents a search for new resonances with mass larger than 250 GeV, decaying to a Z boson and a photon. The dataset consists of an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb⁻¹ of pp collisions collected at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The Z bosons are identified through their decays either to charged, light, lepton pairs (e⁺e⁻, μ⁺μ⁻) or to hadrons. The data are found to be consistent with the expected background in the whole mass range investigated and upper limits are set on the production cross section times decay branching ratio to Zγ of a narrow scalar boson with mass between 250 GeV and 2.75 TeV. © 2016 The Author(s)

This paper focuses on comments described in Java programs, and conducts an empirical analysis about relationships between comments and fault-proneness in the programs. The types of comments analyzed in this paper are comments described inside a method body (inner comments), and comments followed by a method declaration (documentation comments). Although both of them play important roles in the program comprehension, they seem to be described in different purposes, The inner comments are often added to present tips about code fragments, while the documentation comments usually work as a programmer's manual. In the field of code refactoring, well-written inner comments are said to be related to "code smell" since they may cover a lack of readability in a complicated code fragment. This paper analyzes the associations of comments with the code quality from the aspect of fault-proneness, with using four popular open source products. The empirical results show that a method having inner comments tends to be 1.8 - 3.0 times likely to be faulty. The key contribution of this work is to reveal the usefulness of inner comments to point at faulty methods.

The cohesive collective motion (flocking, swarming) of autonomous agents is ubiquitously observed and exploited in both natural and man-made settings, thus, minimal models for its description are essential. In a model with continuous space and time we find that if two particles arrive symmetrically in a plane at a large angle, then (i) radial repulsion and (ii) linear self-propelling toward a fixed preferred speed are sufficient for them to depart at a smaller angle. For this local gain of momentum explicit velocity alignment is not necessary, nor are adhesion or attraction, inelasticity or anisotropy of the particles, or nonlinear drag. With many particles obeying these microscopic rules of motion we find that their spatial confinement to a square with periodic boundaries (which is an indirect form of attraction) leads to stable macroscopic ordering. As a function of the strength of added noise we see—at finite system sizes—a critical slowing down close to the order-disorder boundary and a discontinuous transition. After varying the density of particles at constant system size and varying the size of the system with constant particle density we predict that in the infinite system size (or density) limit the hysteresis loop disappears and the transition becomes continuous. We note that animals, humans, drones, etc., tend to move asynchronously and are often more responsive to motion than positions. Thus, for them velocity-based continuous models can provide higher precision than coordinate-based models. An additional characteristic and realistic feature of the model is that convergence to the ordered state is fastest at a finite density, which is in contrast to models applying (discontinuous) explicit velocity alignments and discretized time. To summarize, we find that the investigated model can provide a minimal description of flocking.
