A search for a charged Higgs boson, H±, decaying to a W± boson and a Z boson is presented. The search is based on 20.3 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The H± boson is assumed to be produced via vector-boson fusion and the decays W±→qq′¯ and Z→e+e−/μ+μ− are considered. The search is performed in a range of charged Higgs boson masses from 200 to 1000 GeV. No evidence for the production of an H± boson is observed. Upper limits of 31–1020 fb at 95% C.L. are placed on the cross section for vector-boson fusion production of an H± boson times its branching fraction to W±Z. The limits are compared with predictions from the Georgi-Machacek Higgs triplet model.

With an integrated luminosity of 2.47 fb−1 recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, the exclusive decays Bs0→J/ψϕ and Bd0→J/ψK*0 of B mesons produced in pp collisions at s=7 TeV are used to determine the ratio of fragmentation fractions fs/fd. From the observed Bs0→J/ψϕ and Bd0→J/ψK*0 yields, the quantity (fs/fd)[B(Bs0→J/ψϕ)/B(Bd0→J/ψK*0)] is measured to be 0.199±0.004(stat)±0.008(syst). Using a recent theory prediction for [B(Bs0→J/ψϕ)/B(Bd0→J/ψK*0)] yields (fs/fd)=0.240±0.004(stat)±0.010(syst)±0.017(th). This result is based on a new approach that provides a significant improvement of the world average.

This Letter presents a search for a heavy neutral particle decaying into an opposite-sign different-flavor dilepton pair, e±μ∓, e±τ∓, or μ±τ∓ using 20.3 fb−1 of pp collision data at s=8 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The numbers of observed candidate events are compatible with the standard model expectations. Limits are set on the cross section of new phenomena in two scenarios: the production of ν˜τ in R-parity-violating supersymmetric models and the production of a lepton-flavor-violating Z′ vector boson.

The results of a dedicated search for pair production of scalar partners of charm quarks are reported. The search is based on an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb−1 of pp collisions at s=8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The search is performed using events with large missing transverse momentum and at least two jets, where the two leading jets are each tagged as originating from c quarks. Events containing isolated electrons or muons are vetoed. In an R-parity-conserving minimal supersymmetric scenario in which a single scalar-charm state is kinematically accessible, and where it decays exclusively into a charm quark and a neutralino, 95% confidence-level upper limits are obtained in the scalar-charm–neutralino mass plane such that, for neutralino masses below 200 GeV, scalar-charm masses up to 490 GeV are excluded.

This paper puts forward an enabling transistor sizing scheme targeting classical CMOS gates when implemented in advanced technologies. It relies on the well-known CMOS inverter for introducing the novel sizing concepts as well as for preliminary simulations verifying these concepts and comparing the resulting performances. These preliminary simulations support the claim that sizing has yet some potential as allowing to not only tradeoff delay versus power (which is well established and has been done over many years), but more interestingly: (i) to shape the static noise margins (SNMs); (ii) to adjust the threshold voltages (V TH ); and (iii) to also confine threshold voltage variations (σ VTH ). Such a sizing scheme can lead to highly reliable (i.e., noise-robust and variation-tolerant) CMOS gates, which will operate correctly at the lowest possible voltages, hence potentially reaching new ultra-low voltage/power limits.

A measurement of the Higgs boson mass is presented based on the combined data samples of the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN LHC in the H→γγ and H→ZZ→4ℓ decay channels. The results are obtained from a simultaneous fit to the reconstructed invariant mass peaks in the two channels and for the two experiments. The measured masses from the individual channels and the two experiments are found to be consistent among themselves. The combined measured mass of the Higgs boson is mH=125.09±0.21 (stat)±0.11 (syst) GeV.

Proxy cryptosystems are classified into proxy decryption systems and proxy re-encryption systems on the basis of a proxy's role. In this paper, we propose an ID-based proxy cryptosystem with revocability and hierarchical confidentialities. In our scheme, on receiving a ciphertext, the proxy has the rights to perform the following three tasks according to the message confidentiality levels of the sender's intention: (1) to decrypt the ciphertext on behalf of the original decryptor;(2) to re-encrypt the ciphertext such that another user who is designated by the original decryptor can learn the message;(3) to do nothing except for forwarding the ciphertext to the original decryptor. Our scheme supports revocability in the sense that it allows proxy's decryption and re-encryption rights to be revoked even during the valid period of the proxy key without changing the original decryptor's public information. We prove that our proposal is indistinguishable against chosen identity and plaintext attacks in the standard model. We also show how to convert it into a system against chosen identity and ciphertext attacks by using the Fujisaki-Okamoto transformation. © 2012 The Institute of Electronics, information and Communication Engineers.

Analysis of mobility parameters effect on position information inaccuracy of GPSR position-based MANET routing protocol

Position-based routing protocols have become more popular in Mobile Ad hoc network (MANET) due to their advantages in using geographical position information of the nodes to route the data packet to the destination node. Each node periodically sends their geographical position information to its neighbors using beacon packets. Data packet routing in position-based routing protocol uses neighbors' position information, which is stored in the node's neighbors list and the destination node's position information stored in the routing data packet header field to route the data packet from source to destination. Most of the current work in position-based routing protocols assumes that position information in the node's neighbors list for its neighbors is accurate, while in reality, only a rough estimate of this position information is available for the nodes. This paper provides analysis study to realize the effect of position information inaccuracy caused by different mobility parameters on Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing (GPSR) position-based routing protocol. In general, inaccuracy occurs when inexact position information is used. However, the results from the analysis work shown that the node beacon packet interval-time and node speed mobility parameters have a high impact on position information inaccuracy and have an intense effect in degrading the performance of GPSR protocol in terms of average end-to-end delay, non-optimal route, false local maximum, and routing loop. © 2005 - 2012 JATIT & LLS. This paper reports on a search for narrow resonances in diboson production in the $$\mathrm {\ell \ell }q\bar{q}$$ final state using $$pp$$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $$20$$ fb $$^{-1}$$ collected at $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of data events over the Standard Model expectation is observed. Upper limits at the 95 % confidence level are set on the production cross section times branching ratio for Kaluza–Klein gravitons predicted by the Randall–Sundrum model and for Extended Gauge Model $$W^\prime $$ bosons. These results lead to the exclusion of mass values below 740 and 1590 GeV for the graviton and $$W^\prime $$ boson respectively.
