Smart cities promise a lot of well-being to their users in all areas of life through millions of applications and services. Smart services rely heavily on collecting data and the preferences of users. But on the dark side, the users' information is posed to threat and penetration during transmission or stored far in the clouds. Depending on encryption only is not sufficient if the attacker has strong resources or if the attacker is the service provider (SP) itself. In addition, changing data before sending is not a practical solution in many systems because of the adverse impact on the quality of a main service. This research presented a new idea to address the issue of protection. The proposed method enhanced the privacy and security of users' data without affecting the accuracy of service. The core of the suggested solution relies on a knowledge base of services that are managed by experts. Also, the solution depends on fog nodes to measure the level of security and privacy of users' queries without delay. Moreover, the fog nodes manage contact with SPs. Finally, the proposed method divided the SP into two, one for user queries and the other for user data. The simulation and analytical discussion on a practical case in smart cities demonstrated the superiority of the proposed approach over previous methods in the level of protection by maintaining the quality of services, and the resistance to attacks. © 2023 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

The choice of systems for level measurements determined by the properties of the fluid, the design features of the tank, the type of level reading and other factors. This article discusses the results of the experimental study of two automated measuring systems and analyzes the errors in measuring the level of light fuels in the laboratory and real conditions. After research in this work, we have proposed an improvement in the construction of the level measuring system, width a compensating sensor is used. © 2022 IEEE.

The neurological condition epilepsy is demanding and even fatal. Electroencephalogram (EEG)-based epilepsy detection still faces various difficulties. EEG readings fluctuate, and different patients have various seizure activity patterns. EEG signal detection is time-consuming and labour-intensive, which puts a strain on medical staff and raises the possibility of erroneous detections. Usually, electrodes are inserted into the scalp or inside the brain for a brief period of time in order to obtain EEG data. It is essential to research efficient cross-patient automatic epilepsy detection techniques. The multi-head self-attention mechanism recognises long-distance dependencies with the same proficiency as it does temporal dynamic correlations between short-term temporal pattern characteristics and sequential relationships. The contextual representations are inputted into a bidirectional long short-term memory network (BiLSTM) so that information can be extracted in both directions. Classification and training are carried out utilising the log SoftMax algorithm. The experiments utilised scalp EEG data from the CHB-MIT database. Sensitivity, specificity, F1-score, and accuracy were computed to be 96.5 percent, 97.04 percent, 96.6 percent, and 96.2 percent, respectively. The results of the experiment show how well the technique works for detecting seizures in several patients utilising multi-channel EEG recordings. The results also demonstrate the method's improved generalisation capabilities and resilience and consistency in collecting seizure patterns. This is particularly critical for the tertiary diagnosis of epilepsy, and the findings indicate that the proposed method significantly improves the accuracy of detection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Rubber cultivation plays a vital role in the global economy as a primary natural rubber source necessitates efficient plantation management for sustainability and latex quality. This paper introduces an integrated mobile app that enhances rubber plantation management through real-time monitoring of tapping, disease identification via image processing, weed detection, and latex quality assessment. Addressing these challenges becomes pivotal to improving latex quality, minimizing waste, and promoting sustainable practices in the rubber industry. In conclusion, the proposed mobile application serves as a prospective solution for estate owners, utilizing selected algorithms to tackle these challenges effectively.

In recent years,there has been an increasing demand to improve cellular communication services in several *** aspect that received the most attention is improving the quality of coverage through using smart antennas which consist of array *** paper investigates the main characteristics and design of the three types of array antennas of the base station for better coverage through simulation(MATLAB)which provides field and strength patterns measured in polar and rectangular coordinates for a variety of conditions including broadsides,ordinary End-fire,and increasing directivity End-fire which is typically used in smart *** method of analysis was applied to twenty experiments of process design to each antenna type separately,so sixty results were obtained from the radiation pattern indicating the parameters for each radiation ***,nineteen design experiments were described in this *** is hoped that the results obtained from this study will help engineers solve coverage problems as well as improve the quality of cellular communication networks.

HVQ-VAE: Variational auto-encoder with hyperbolic vector quantization

Vector quantized-variational autoencoder (VQ-VAE) and its variants have made significant progress in creating discrete latent space via learning a codebook. Previous works on VQ-VAE have focused on discrete latent spaces in Euclidean or in spherical spaces. This paper studies the geometric prior of hyperbolic spaces as a way to improve the learning capacity of VQ-VAE. That being said, working with the VQ-VAE in the hyperbolic space is not without difficulties, and the benefits of using hyperbolic space as the geometric prior for the latent space have never been studied in VQ-VAE. We bridge this gap by developing the VQ-VAE with hyperbolic vector quantization. To this end, we propose the hyperbolic VQ-VAE (HVQ-VAE), which learns the latent embedding of data and the codebook in the hyperbolic space. Specifically, we endow the discrete latent space in the Poincaré ball, such that the clustering algorithm can be formulated and optimized in the Poincaré ball. Thorough experiments against various baselines are conducted to evaluate the superiority of the proposed HVQ-VAE empirically. We show that HVQ-VAE enjoys better image reconstruction, effective codebook usage, and fast convergence than baselines. We also present evidence that HVQ-VAE outperforms VQ-VAE in low-dimensional latent space. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.

Parkinson's disease (PD) profoundly impacts millions in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the importance of early detection for better patient outcomes. We introduce “NeuraTrace PD,” an innovative application for early PD screening, combining brain MRI, hand-drawn image analysis, facial expression assessment, and voice analysis. For brain MRI analysis, we employed a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN), achieving an impressive accuracy of 91% and identifying distinct graph connectivity patterns using graph theory. We also use a deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to reach 90% accuracy in analyzing hand-drawn images, while optimizing image resolution for efficiency and information retention. Facial expression analysis is a vital component, leveraging CNN and Constrained Local Models (CLM) to accurately extract Facial Action Units (FAUs), which contribute to a remarkable 95% accuracy using the XGBoost machine learning model. We introduce a Machine Learning (ML) algorithm and advanced signal processing to enhance voice feature analysis, offering a thorough understanding and classification of PD patients. It reaches 99% accuracy. In summary, our approach holds significant promise for advancing early PD diagnosis, ultimately improving the quality of life for those affected by this challenging condition.

Dynamic programming is a fundamental algorithm that can be found in our daily lives easily. One of the dynamic programming algorithm implementations consists of solving the 0/1 knapsack problem. A 0/1 knapsack problem can be seen from industrial production cost. It is prevalent that a production cost has to be as efficient as possible, but the expectation is to get the proceeds of the products higher. Thus, the dynamic programming algorithm can be implemented to solve the diverse knapsack problem, one of which is the 0/1 knapsack problem, which would be the main focus of this paper. The implementation was implemented using C language. This paper was created as an early implementation algorithm using a Dynamic program algorithm applied to an Automatic Identification System (AIS) dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

A HYBRID SWARM INTELLIGENCE APPROACH FOR OPTIMIZING MULTIMODAL LARGE LANGUAGE MODELS DEPLOYMENT IN EDGE-CLOUD-BASED FEDERATED LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

The combination of Federated Learning (FL), Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs), and edge-cloud computing enables distributed and real-time data processing while preserving privacy across edge devices and cloud infrastructure. However, the deployment of MLLMs in FL environments with resource-constrained edge devices presents significant challenges, including resource management, communication overhead, and non-IID data. To address these challenges, we propose a novel hybrid framework wherein MLLMs are deployed on edge devices equipped with sufficient resources and battery life, while the majority of training occurs in the cloud. To identify suitable edge devices for deployment, we employ Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is utilized to optimize the transmission of model updates between edge and cloud nodes. This proposed swarm intelligence-based framework aims to enhance the efficiency of MLLM training by conducting extensive training in the cloud and fine-tuning at the edge, thereby reducing energy consumption and communication costs. Our experimental results show that the proposed method significantly improves system performance, achieving an accuracy of 92%, reducing communication cost by 30%, and enhancing client participation compared to traditional FL methods. These results make the proposed approach highly suitable for large-scale edge-cloud computing systems. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.
