作者: WHITNEY, DA BENEDICT, TJ David A. Whitneyis a division staff analyst in the Strategic Systems Division at TASC Reading Mass. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics and statistics from Princeton University and the University of Illinois and has completed additional graduate work toward a Ph.D. at MIT. He has directed a number of algorithm development and data analysis activities in support of the U.S. Navy's Trident programs and has authored several technical papers. Mr. Whitney is currently involved in development and field testing of passive sonar signal processing algorithms and directs a R&D activity in the area of parallel processing applications for ASW. Lt Terry J. Benedict USNis an engineering duty officer in the U.S. Navy and is currently assigned as the assistant section head for missile engineering at Strategic Systems Programs Washington D.C. He has a B.S. degree in management from the U.S. Naval Academy and M.S. degree in weapons systems engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. He formerly served as the system software development officer for the Navigation Branch at Strategic Systems Programs and shared responsibilities for the design development testing and configuration control of the Navigation Subsystem software.

Zitzman:is the group supervisor of the Advanced Systems Design Group Fleet Systems Department The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL). He has been employed at JHU/APL since 1972 performing applied research in computer science and in investigating and applying advanced computer technologies to Navy shipboard systems. He is currently chairman of Aegis Computer Architecture Data Bus and Fiber Optics Working Group from which many concepts for this paper were generated. Dr. Zitzman received his B.S. degree in physics from Brigham Young University in 1963 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Illinois in 1967 and 1972 respectively. Stephen M. Falatko:was a senior engineering analyst in the Combat Systems Engineering Department Comptek Research Incorporated for the majority of this effort. He is currently employed at ManTech Services Corporation. During his eight-year career first at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and currently with ManTech Mr. Falatko's work has centered around the development of requirements and specifications for future Navy systems and the application of advanced technology to Navy command and control systems. He is a member of both the Computer Architecture Fiber Optics and Data Bus Working Group and the Aegis Fiber Optics Working Group. Mr. Falatko received his B.S. degree in aerospace engineering with high distinction from the University of Virginia in 1982 and his M.S. degree in applied physics from The Johns Hopkins University in 1985. Mr. Falatko is a member of Tau Beta Pi Sigma Gamma Tau the American Society of Naval Engineers and the U.S. Naval Institute. Janet L. Papach:is a section leader and senior engineering analyst in the Combat Systems Engineering Department Comptek Research Incorporated. Conway:heads the Reliability and Statistics Section of the Information Management Branch in the Management Operations Division of the Naval Ship Systems Engineering Station (NA VSSES). He received his B.A. degree in liberal arts from Mount St. Mary's College in 1950 and his M.S. degree in applied statistics from Villanova University in 1960. He has completed two years of postgraduate studies in mathematical statistics at Temple University and has had over thirty years of experience in the field of applied statistics with E.I. DuPont & Company General Electric Company and NA VSSES. He is a member of the American Statistical Association and the American Society for Quality Control. Adam R. Poh:is a reliability engineer in the Reliability and Statistics Section of the Information Management Branch in the Management Operations Division of NA VSSES. He received his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Newark College of Engineering in 1954 and his M.S. degree in engineering from the University of Alabama in 1962. He taught for six years at the Miami-Dade Community College and was awarded an associate professorship. He has 20 years of other engineering experience with the last seven at NAVSSES. A professional engineer registered in Delaware his memberships include the American Society of Naval Engineers the Society of Reliability Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
