This study investigates the relationship between the diameter of a D-shaped plastic optical fiber (POF) sensor and its optical response as a function of varying salt concentrations. A simple and efficient dry etching polishing technique was employed to create D-shaped POF sensors with a range of diameters. All the fabricated sensors were carefully developed to maintain a consistent length of 20 cm with a sensing region of 1cm. To evaluate the optical intensity response, each sensor, with its respective diameter, was examined with the salt concentration ranging from (0 to 5%) examination utilizing a spectrometer. The sensor response was characterized by quantifying the variations observed in the intensity of the optical signal propagating through the sensing region. The sensors having a diameter of 500 μm, 700 μm, and 900 μm had a sensitivity of 149 A.U/%salt, 66 A.U/%salt, and 11.2 A.U/%salt respectively. The sensitivity of the 500 μm diameter sensor increased 13 times approximately as compared to the sensor having diameter of 900 μm. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In the age of online workload explosion,cloud users are increasing ***,large scale data centers are required in cloud environment that leads to high energy ***,optimal resource utilization is essential to improve energy efficiency of cloud data ***,most of the existing literature focuses on virtual machine(VM)consolidation for increasing energy efficiency at the cost of service level agreement *** order to improve the existing approaches,load aware three-gear THReshold(LATHR)as well as modified best fit decreasing(MBFD)algorithm is proposed for minimizing total energy consumption while improving the quality of service in terms of *** offers promising results under dynamic workload and variable number of VMs(1-290)allocated on individual *** outcomes of the proposed work are measured in terms of SLA,energy consumption,instruction energy ratio(IER)and the number of migrations against the varied numbers of *** experimental results it has been concluded that the proposed technique reduced the SLA violations(55%,26%and 39%)and energy consumption(17%,12%and 6%)as compared to median absolute deviation(MAD),inter quartile range(IQR)and double threshold(THR)overload detection policies,respectively.

Cognitive radio can be considered as a viable frequency access framework that overcomes the disadvantages of the licensed-based transmission procedure by allowing the secondary users to access the spectrum to transmit their data. However, due to the evolution of latency-sensitive real-time communication applications such as gaming and extended reality, it becomes more vital that cognitive radio networks should be studied with latency requirements on the data transmission. Recently, Age of Information has introduced itself as a important metric for evaluating the freshness of the transmitted data. In this paper, we investigate the latency and stability analysis of a two-user cognitive radio network that consists of one primary user, one secondary user and their destinations. The latency requirements of the transmitted data packets are taken into consideration by imposing Age of Information constraints on the data transmission of the users. We present two optimization problems, in the first problem, the secondary user stable throughput is maximized under an Age of Information constraint imposed on the data transmission of the secondary user. While, in the second problem, we maximize the stable throughput of the secondary user with respect to Age of Information constraints set on the data transmission of both the primary and secondary users. The resultant problems are found to be non-linear programming optimization problems. An appropriate algorithm is used to solve the problems and provide the numerical solutions. Our results characterize the impact of setting Age of Information constraints on the stability region of the network;we demonstrate that the stability region, in certain cases, is reduced by only 11% with strict Age of Information restrictions if compared to the scenario where no latency requirements is considered. Our results also show the potential accuracy of the algorithm adopted in this paper to solve the formulated optimization problems. © 2022 IEEE.

Combinatorial test suite generation is a critical aspect of software testing, particularly for systems with variable-strength interactions. Traditional optimization algorithms often struggle to efficiently generate minimal test suites while maintaining coverage. This research introduces the Fuzzy Adaptive Sine Cosine Algorithm (FASCA), a variant of the Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), tailored specifically for optimizing variable-strength combinatorial test suite generation. FASCA incorporates fuzzy adaptation mechanisms to dynamically balance exploration and exploitation, addressing the limitations of standard SCA in handling diverse interaction strengths. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that FASCA significantly reduces test suite size and execution time compared to the original SCA, offering a more efficient solution for combinatorial test optimization. These results highlight FASCA's potential as a robust tool for enhancing the efficiency of software testing processes. © 2024 IEEE.

DNA Barcodes, which are particular fragments derived from brief sections of DNA (such as mitochondrial, nuclear, and plastid sequences), can be used to identify organisms from the major life kingdoms. In addition to supporting conventional taxonomic techniques, DNA barcoding is a potent tool that advances our knowledge of species diversity and their ecological functions. On a variety of organisms, the use of this approach for species categorization has been successful. In this paper, we examine how DNA barcoding has been used to classify species based on DNA barcodes as well as other related research that has been done over the years on the subject. After experimenting with a number of deep learning models, we have propose a Variational Auto Encoder + Feed Forward Neural Network workflow for classifiying species using DNA barcodes. The models have been assessed on the basis of performance factors including accuracy, recall, and precision. COI, rbcL, matK, and ITS are the specific gene sections that have been identified as barcodes. For both simulated and real datasets, the model can attain an average accuracy of greater than 95 percent. This DNA barcoding approach has the ability to simplify DNA barcode-based species identification and serve as a tool for species categorization. © 2023 IEEE.

In electric power transmission and distribution systems, the use of overhead lines instead of underground cables is preferred by power utilities mainly due to the lower construction cost and the easier maintenance access. On the other hand the equipment used in overhead lines is stressed by several factors, such as weather conditions, lightning, vegetation fires, etc. In particular, vegetation fires under the overhead transmission lines could have catastrophic results for the installed equipment and can cause long-lasting electricity interruptions. In this study, condition assessment results are presented for eighteen 150 kV composite insulators exposed to a forest fire event, occurred in the August 2021, in the island of Rhodes, Greece. The evaluation of the fire effects on composite insulators was performed by employing several macroscopic and microscopic diagnostic techniques including visual inspection, hydrophobicity classification, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and optical microscopy analysis. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

Expert systems (ES) rely heavily on effective control mechanisms to navigate complex problem-solving tasks. These mechanisms govern how ES utilizes knowledge and data to make decisions and execute actions. Optimizing these mechanisms, or addressing the "control problem," remains a central challenge. Blackboard architectures, with their separation of knowledge and control processes, offer a promising approach. This study introduces an improved control mechanism for blackboard architectures. It focuses on a critical aspect—trigger mechanisms and feasible conditions—for optimal knowledge source selection to participate in the problem-solving process. By leveraging these features, this study aims to enhance decision-making and problem-solving capabilities within complex domains. This paper focuses on the technical details of exploring how it manages the flow of rule activation and execution throughout the problem-solving process. © 2025 IEEE.

At present, the prediction of user retweeting behavior plays a significant role in perceiving the underlying mechanism of information diffusion in the microblogging network. The problem of retweeting behavior prediction is usually considered as a classification task hence, the effort for the classification of the time-series data in the microblogging network has gained spacious attention. It is challenging to improve the classification accuracy of retweeting behavior prediction models, because the applied classifications still lack a tailored method. To address this, we present a retweeting behavior prediction model based on Dynamic Naïve Bayes classifier that is an appropriate classifier dealing with time-series data classification. In fact, we apply a time discretization approach and incorporate user individual, social and temporal features into our proposed prediction model to estimate accurately user retweeting behavior in the microblogging network over time. The real Twitter(X) microblogging dataset is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model in the user retweeting prediction. The experimental results show that our proposed classifier due to its simple structure can avoid overfitting problem, and outperforms in compared to other baseline methods. ©2024 IEEE.

In Artificial Intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC), growing data and model sizes require distributed processing across multiple nodes due to single-node limitations, increasing inter-node communication. To address these challenges, we propose a novel MPI allgather method leveraging CXL technology, which supports composable architectures and dynamic resource allocation in data centers and HPC systems. Notably, CXL 3.1 facilitates cache coherence among nodes. The proposed allgather method uses the CXL shared memory pool as a communication buffer, outperforming existing algorithms for two reasons: First, CXL provides lower latency than Ethernet and IB, and second, by using the CXL shared memory pool as a shared communication buffer across multiple nodes, it significantly reduces the number of communications. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first to explore combining MPI collective communication with CXL technology to optimize MPI allgather. Our proposed allgather method significantly reduces communication latency compared to traditional allgather methods by up to 42.14x, with a minimum improvement of 2.91x, as measured using the OSU Micro-Benchmark (OMB), a standard MPI benchmarking suite.

This paper presents a K-band CMOS power amplifier (PA) using the 65-nm CMOS process. To improve linearity, an analog predistortion linearizer using a cold-FET and a variable inductor is proposed. Unlike conventional cold-FET linearizers, which face limitations in improving amplitude-to-phase (AM-PM) distortion at high output power, the proposed linearizer compensates both AM-PM distortion and amplitude-to-amplitude (AM-AM) distortion of the PA. Especially, the linearizer has a phase-lag characteristic at medium output power and phase-lead characteristic at high output power, which compensates for AM-PM distortion of the PA up to high output power. The implemented PA achieved a peak power-added efficiency (PAE) of 34.4%, saturation output power (P sat ) of 22.1 dBm, and P 1dB of 19.44 dBm at 27 GHz. Also, AM-PM distortion of only 0.9° was achieved through the proposed linearization technique. Linear output power satisfying error vector magnitudes (EVMs) of -25 dB and -30 dB were measured at 16.5 dBm and 14.9 dBm, respectively.
