The Banda Sea is an essential part of the Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI) III, which is strategic but still minimally explored. The crucial position of the Banda Sea in international shipping lanes and maritime defense operations requires a more in-depth oceanographic study related to underwater defense strategies. In this study, the Arvor I profiling float operated by BMKG provides real-time data with Iridium satellite communication to observe oceanographic parameters such as temperature, salinity, and depth. This study aims to analyze the shadow zone, which has essential implications for underwater acoustic operations, especially submarine navigation. The research methodology includes analysis of vertical temperature and salinity profiles to identify the thermocline layer. The speed of sound is calculated using the McKenzie equation by considering variations in temperature, salinity, and sea depth. Acoustic propagation simulations were performed using the spherical spreading model approach to map the distribution of the shadow zone. The analysis results indicate the presence of a thermocline at a depth range of 44.7 to 1016.4 meters, with a minimum point of sound speed at a depth of around 992 meters. Understanding the distribution of this shadow zone can significantly contribute to the optimization of underwater acoustic operations in the Banda Sea region, including in supporting submarine operations and other acoustic monitoring activities. © 2024 IEEE.

The availability of spatially and temporally consistent rainfall observation data is needed in various fields. Fields of research related to hydrometeorology are no exception. The limitations of rainfall measuring tools and stations encourage the use of alternative rainfall data derived from estimates based on satellite data. The condition of limited tools and stations to measure rainfall is also experienced in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency. This study aims to test how far the Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station (CHIRPS) satellite rainfall data can be used as standard rainfall data in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency. In this study, monthly rainfall forecasts from CHIRPS satellite data are validated by rainfall observations from four station locations. Validation is carried out to determine the level of correlation and the magnitude of the error value from satellite data. The method used is descriptive statistics by calculating the correlation coefficient and error value. The validation results show that the CHIRPS satellite data has a fairly strong correlation greater than 0.6 with observation data from four locations. Therefore, CHIRPS satellite data can be used as an alternative to rainfall data in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency, especially in areas with the same elevation and topographic conditions as the station location, with the best validation results. © 2022 IEEE.

The potential for future energy crises is a problem the world is currently facing. Many countries are switching from fossil to renewable energy to prevent an energy crisis. One of the most developed renewable energy today is solar energy. Easy installation makes solar energy installation not only on a large scale but also on a home scale. Urban areas will be very suitable for building solar photovoltaic (PV) roofs due to minimal open areas. In installing rooftop solar PV, sound planning is needed to predict the energy potential that can be provided by solar energy on the rooftop of a building. Spatial modeling can be done to determine the energy potential and suitable location for rooftop solar PV installation. In building rooftop solar PV modeling, the level of detail of the building will affect the results of the model. The rooftop's shape and the building's height will affect the amount of solar radiation going into the building. However, the higher the level of detail of the building, the higher the cost and processing time will be. This study will review the differences in modeling the potential of rooftop solar PV using different levels of detail. This research will integrate solar radiation data from remote sensing to determine the energy potential of solar radiation and digital surface model data from photogrammetry to create a level of detail for buildings. Integration of solar radiation data and the level of detail of the building will use hillshade analysis. Hillshade analysis can review the shadow effect on the rooftop of a building which will be directly related to the potential of solar energy on the rooftop of the building. This study determines the energy potential on the rooftop of the building with different levels of detail, namely 0, 1, and actual shape, to determine the difference in energy potential in the three scenarios. In 2022, there are 1,524 flood events out of a total of 3,531 disasters occurring in Indonesia. East Kalimantan Province ranked 20th among the 35 provinces in Indonesia with 28 flood occurrences in 2022, resulting in two fatalities. This highlights the urgent need for addressing flood hazard to prevent future casualties. There are some methods that can be used to determine the flood hazard in a region. In this research aims to identify flood-prone areas in East Kalimantan Province and evaluate the effectiveness of different mapping methods. The methodology that compares are the Pairwise Comparison method and Geomorphic Flood Index (GFI). The study's results provide flood-prone area maps of East Kalimantan Province using both methods, recommend the more efficient method for flood-prone area identification, and offer mitigation strategies based on the findings. This research is intended to serve as a reference for selecting the best method for identifying flood-prone areas and for informing policy decisions to mitigate flood impacts in East Kalimantan Province. © Author(s) 2025.

Access to healthcare facilities is crucial in the present day. Healthcare facilities must be proportional to the population in a given area. Therefore, it is important to increase the number of healthcare facilities in regions where there is an imbalance. Proper planning and a sustainability review are necessary when determining locations for healthcare facilities. Environmental changes can affect the suitability of a location in the future. Thus, planning that can predict future suitability conditions is required to ensure that the built locations have high sustainability. This study predicts the suitability of healthcare facility locations in 2030 in West Java using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS). Both static and dynamic data processed at 30×30 meter intervals across West Java will be used. Geospatial and remote sensing data are utilized in the study. Dynamic parameter extrapolation uses data from 2000 to 2018. The random forest machine learning method is employed to obtain the suitability values for healthcare facility locations using existing health facility training data in West Java. The results show changes in the suitability classes of healthcare facilities in each region from 2018 to 2030, with some areas experiencing an increase or decrease in class. This research highlights consistently suitable locations, ensuring their sustainability as healthcare facility sites. © 2024

Indonesia is located in three collision zones of the world's three major plates, namely the Eurasian Plate, the Indo-Australian Plate, and the Pacific Plate. As a result of the plate collision, there were many earthquakes in Indonesia. One of the characteristics of the earthquake in this study is an active fault. Active faults are things that can cause earthquakes. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the differences in the accuracy of the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) method with various types of satellites to identify earthquake characteristics. This literature review is limited by analysis of active faults on land using SAR imagery in the territory of Indonesia. Indonesia is located in the equator causes high cloud coverage throughout the year in Indonesian region. The advantages of this SAR image are that it can monitor the earth's surface without weather disturbances, can penetrate clouds, and can be used during the day or night. The results of this literature review show that to identify the impact of earthquakes with high slip fault sources, medium resolution SAR images can be used (such as using Sentinel-1 imagery), and to identify the effect of earthquakes with low slip faults, high resolution can be used (such as using ALOS-2/PALSAR imagery). Knowing the impact of deformation due to earthquakes can be used to improve disaster preparedness, particularly those caused by earthquakes.

This Rembang and Blora Regencies are one of the areas that store natural resources, especially limestone (karst) in Kendeng Mountain. Assessment the condition of the mining area requires the preparation of systematic image data to determine the change data. Remote sensing technology has the ability to observe earth objects in a certain period of time and can be used as a tool to monitor the environmental conditions of the mining *** research methodology broadly includes data collection, raster data, vector, textual, initial processing, field surveys, and image analysis. With the study of remote sensing technology, it is expected to provide fast and accurate information to the Regional Government regarding the consequences of mining activities and directions for mitigation. Landsat-7 satellite image technology and GIS-based Thematic Maps can provide land cover information on the impact of mining activities quickly, but must be supported by the accuracy and data validation resulting from the field *** on these data it can be seen that the exploitation of limestone mining can affect the area of critical land and cause environmental damage, with illustration in the extent of the negative impact from exploitation that has been done. Using the spatio-temporal (analysis) approach, it can be seen how much the forest changes in limestone mining activities for the period 2012-2017 on Kendeng Mountain, Blora - Rembang Regency in relation to the above mentioned features. Spatio-temporal analysis is a method of combining analysis between spatial and multi-time analysis. © 2018 IEEE.

Vehicle type classification method using artificial neural network (ANN) is proposed in this paper. The presented method relies on ANN to recognize between car, motorcycle and non-vehicle images. Extended Haar feature (EHF) was used to extract unique features from motorcycle and car images. These features were used to train four designed ANNs. The focus of this research is to determine the most optimum ANN for future development, which is good in the term of accuracy and speed. The experimental results show that a more complex ANN has a good accuracy but with a slower processing speed. The most optimum ANN gives 94% of accuracy and 51ms of processing speed to classify a single image. © 2018 IEEE.
