The Banda Sea is an essential part of the Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI) III, which is strategic but still minimally explored. The crucial position of the Banda Sea in international shipping lanes and maritime defense operations requires a more in-depth oceanographic study related to underwater defense strategies. In this study, the Arvor I profiling float operated by BMKG provides real-time data with Iridium satellite communication to observe oceanographic parameters such as temperature, salinity, and depth. This study aims to analyze the shadow zone, which has essential implications for underwater acoustic operations, especially submarine navigation. The research methodology includes analysis of vertical temperature and salinity profiles to identify the thermocline layer. The speed of sound is calculated using the McKenzie equation by considering variations in temperature, salinity, and sea depth. Acoustic propagation simulations were performed using the spherical spreading model approach to map the distribution of the shadow zone. The analysis results indicate the presence of a thermocline at a depth range of 44.7 to 1016.4 meters, with a minimum point of sound speed at a depth of around 992 meters. Understanding the distribution of this shadow zone can significantly contribute to the optimization of underwater acoustic operations in the Banda Sea region, including in supporting submarine operations and other acoustic monitoring activities. © 2024 IEEE.

The availability of spatially and temporally consistent rainfall observation data is needed in various fields. Fields of research related to hydrometeorology are no exception. The limitations of rainfall measuring tools and stations encourage the use of alternative rainfall data derived from estimates based on satellite data. The condition of limited tools and stations to measure rainfall is also experienced in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency. This study aims to test how far the Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station (CHIRPS) satellite rainfall data can be used as standard rainfall data in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency. In this study, monthly rainfall forecasts from CHIRPS satellite data are validated by rainfall observations from four station locations. Validation is carried out to determine the level of correlation and the magnitude of the error value from satellite data. The method used is descriptive statistics by calculating the correlation coefficient and error value. The validation results show that the CHIRPS satellite data has a fairly strong correlation greater than 0.6 with observation data from four locations. Therefore, CHIRPS satellite data can be used as an alternative to rainfall data in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency, especially in areas with the same elevation and topographic conditions as the station location, with the best validation results. © 2022 IEEE.

Using MD5 hashing of passwords in web logins is highly vulnerable to dictionary attacks. One online application for cracking hashed passwords using a dictionary attack that is free and easy to use is ***. Even so, the use of hashing passwords using MD5 which has a low level of security is still commonly found to secure web login passwords. This research presents an increase in security through a combination of salt hash passwords when using MD5. The methodology of this study uses a quantitative experimental method to apply hash salt passwords using the MD5 combination. The password cracking test was carried out using the *** online hash cracking application on weak passwords such as 'admin' with the addition of a password hash salt using the MD5 combination. The results showed that Salt Password using the MD5 combination could not be cracked by *** using a dictionary attack. © 2023 IEEE.

In 2022, there are 1,524 flood events out of a total of 3,531 disasters occurring in Indonesia. East Kalimantan Province ranked 20th among the 35 provinces in Indonesia with 28 flood occurrences in 2022, resulting in two fatalities. This highlights the urgent need for addressing flood hazard to prevent future casualties. There are some methods that can be used to determine the flood hazard in a region. In this research aims to identify flood-prone areas in East Kalimantan Province and evaluate the effectiveness of different mapping methods. The methodology that compares are the Pairwise Comparison method and Geomorphic Flood Index (GFI). The study's results provide flood-prone area maps of East Kalimantan Province using both methods, recommend the more efficient method for flood-prone area identification, and offer mitigation strategies based on the findings. This research is intended to serve as a reference for selecting the best method for identifying flood-prone areas and for informing policy decisions to mitigate flood impacts in East Kalimantan Province. © Author(s) 2025.

The potential for future energy crises is a problem the world is currently facing. Many countries are switching from fossil to renewable energy to prevent an energy crisis. One of the most developed renewable energy today is solar energy. Easy installation makes solar energy installation not only on a large scale but also on a home scale. Urban areas will be very suitable for building solar photovoltaic (PV) roofs due to minimal open areas. In installing rooftop solar PV, sound planning is needed to predict the energy potential that can be provided by solar energy on the rooftop of a building. Spatial modeling can be done to determine the energy potential and suitable location for rooftop solar PV installation. In building rooftop solar PV modeling, the level of detail of the building will affect the results of the model. The rooftop's shape and the building's height will affect the amount of solar radiation going into the building. However, the higher the level of detail of the building, the higher the cost and processing time will be. This study will review the differences in modeling the potential of rooftop solar PV using different levels of detail. This research will integrate solar radiation data from remote sensing to determine the energy potential of solar radiation and digital surface model data from photogrammetry to create a level of detail for buildings. Integration of solar radiation data and the level of detail of the building will use hillshade analysis. Hillshade analysis can review the shadow effect on the rooftop of a building which will be directly related to the potential of solar energy on the rooftop of the building. This study determines the energy potential on the rooftop of the building with different levels of detail, namely 0, 1, and actual shape, to determine the difference in energy potential in the three scenarios. This research explores the use of a modified infrared (IR) camera equipped with a high-pass filter to distinguish between natural objects (vegetation) and artificial objects (synthetic military uniforms) in an environment where vegetation makes objects difficult to detect. In military operations, especially guerrilla warfare in tropical forests, detecting enemies camouflaged in vegetation makes it difficult to distinguish targeted objects. Visible light cameras usually struggle to distinguish between synthetic and natural colors. This methodology involves the use of Python programming and various libraries, such as Computer Vision (CV), to process images captured by modified cameras. A graphical user interface (GUI) was developed to analyze color values, focusing on the red, green, and blue spectra. The results show that the modified IR camera can more effectively separate synthetic and natural object color peaks compared to a standard visible light camera, offering potential applications in military reconnaissance and sniper operations. This research demonstrates how image processing can improve object detection in complex environments. © 2024 IEEE.

Border and Inland areas are often faced with communication problems due to limited infrastructure and extreme geographical conditions. This research has produced three APRS-based communication system devices in border and inland areas that can be used to report emergency positions, namely Tracker, Digipeater, and Internet Gateway (IGate). Two APRS testing scenarios were conducted, namely sending beacons from Tracker and Ground Station, and sending beacons from Tracker, Digipeater, and Ground Station. The first scenario test results recorded a maximum distance of 2.36 kilometers (straight line) for sending and receiving information. Meanwhile, the second scenario test results can send and receive information with a maximum distance of 4.21 kilometers (straight line). This result confirms that the range of sending information signals using the digipeater device can expand the range of receiving information up to two times. Based on these results, the second scenario between Tracker, Digipeater, and Ground Station is more effectively used to increase communication coverage in border and inland areas.
