At present, China is in the most prominent time of the social transition. At the same time, population and vehicles are increased rapidly in the urban. Social interaction and large-scale events are also happened frequently in cities. All this are making the problem of urbanization increasingly serious. In order to solve the problem caused by urbanization, city modeling has been rapid developed in recent years. This paper presents a Google map based platform for city modeling and simulation. The platform aims to ease the problem caused by urbanization. It is feasible and cost-effective to develop applications base on this platform. This paper also introduces an application based on Google map API for flex, which implements some functions, such as adding, deleting, modifying points and lines on map, and the property of markers can be dynamically formulated. And all the added data is stored in the local database. On the basis of this platform, city modelers may reduce their burden and concentrate on modeling methods. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Rough set theory, proposed by Pawlak, has been proved to be a mathematical tool to deal with vagueness and uncertainty in intelligent information processing. In this paper, we propose the concept of knowledge granulation in interval-valued information systems, and discuss some important properties. From these properties, it can be shown that the proposed knowledge granulation provides important approaches to measuring the discernibility of different knowledge. It may be helpful for rule evaluation and knowledge discovery in interval-valued information systems. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose an object-oriented attack model to represent a protocol attack in WSN detailedly. The model describes multiple attributes of an attack, including its principle, impact, interdependent relationships with other attacks, etc. Then, on the basis of the attack model and the FSM description method, we present a security testing approach for WSN protocols, in order to evaluate the security of the tested protocols. Finally, we take the TinyPK protocol and Sybil attack for example to implement our design, and the Protocol Security Testing Report shows as expected that the TinyPK cannot resist the Sybil attack. Thus, the security testing approach proposed is feasible.

Virtualization technology improves the resource utilization, but also raises the probability of resource contention. Thus, it arises one problem, namely how about performance isolation among VMs. To answer the question, benchmarks are highly required to evaluate performance isolation. However, few benchmarks to give solutions to the problem are availab.e. Especially, there does not exist a micro-benchmark to measure how the performance of individual primitive operations varies with the type of misbehavior. In the paper, we present VITS - a micro-benchmark to evaluate the performance isolation of virtualization system. VITS Test Suite can test both software and hardware performance isolation. It is mainly consisted of six interference programs, which respectively test the performance isolation of cache, memory bandwidth, memory space, CPU, network and disk. VITS Test Suite provides results for user to analyze the performance isolation problem of the virtualization system along with the underlying hardware. Besides, we test Xen using VITS test suit. The experimental results show that, the cache, memory and disk performance isolation still have some big weak points to improve, in other words, the current virtualization system Xen is still unfair in fine-grained resource share. © 2010 IEEE.

Network Coding-based Reliable Broadcast Transmission in Wireless Networks

Recently, network coding has been applied to the loss recovery of reliable broadcast transmission in wireless networks. Since it was proved that fi nding the optimal set of lost packets for XOR-ing is a complex NP-complete problem, the availab.e time-based retransmission scheme and its enhanced retransmission scheme have exponential computational complexity and thus are not scalab.e to large networks. In this paper, we present an efficient heuristic scheme based on hypergraph coloring and also its enhanced heuristic scheme to improve the transmission efficiency. Basically, our proposed schemes fi rst create a hypergraph according to the packet-loss matrix. Then our schemes solve the problem of generating XORed packets by coloring the edges of hypergraph. Extensive simulation results demonstrate that, the heuristic scheme based on hypergraph coloring and its enhanced scheme can achieve almost the same transmission efficiency as the availab.e ones, but have much lower computational complexity, which is very important for the wireless devices without high computation capacity.

With the growth of hardware and software resources, the management of virtual machine system is becoming more and more difficult. It has become a very difficult problem that how to schedule the system resource in real time and improve the service performance of resource in a multiple virtual machine system. In order to solve this problem, the authors propose a real-time scheduling mechanism of resource for multiple virtual machine system. In the real-time scheduling mechanism of resource, the authors first describe the architecture of multiple virtual machine system. Then, the authors present a real-time scheduling strategy of resource. In order to justify the feasibility and the availab.lity of this resource scheduling mechanism, a series of experiments have been done. The results show that it is feasible to schedule the system resources for tasks in multiple virtual machine system. © 2010 IEEE.

With the development of the computer technology, the virtual machine has been become the main research topic. Understanding of the current technology and future trends of virtual machine system greatly help to improve the service performance of system. Therefore, we describe the current technology and present the future trends of virtual machine system in the paper. In the current technology of virtual machine system, we mainly describe the virtualization technology, the resource scheduling technology, the migration technology, the security technology and the performance evaluation technology. In the future trends of virtual machine system, we mainly present an overview of the future CPU architecture, the management mode of future memory and resource, the future maintaining method of system security and the performance evaluation method of future multiple virtual machine system. © 2010 IEEE.

With the growth of hardware and software resources, It becomes a challenge that how to ensure the Quality of service (QoS) of resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system. In order to solve this problem, the authors propose a control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling. In the control mechanism, we first propose a theoretical model. Then, we present an elicitation algorithm to resolve the optimal model. In order to justify the feasibility and availab.lity of this control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system, a series of experiments have been done. The results show that it is feasible to schedule the system resources and control the QoS of system resources for tasks in multiple virtual machine system. © 2010 IEEE.

Augmented Reality combines real world and virtual information in interactive visualizations. Since phones started integrating GPS, compass and accelerometer, several Augmented Reality browsers for phones have hit the market. These are applications that access large amounts of geo-referenced information from online sources and present it at corresponding physical locations, superimposed onto a live video stream. However, Augmented Reality is constrained by the camera's field of view and restricted to first- person views, limiting the amount of overview that users can gain. We present two zooming interfaces that compensate for these constraints by enabling users to smoothly zoom between the Augmented Reality view and (1) an egocentric panoramic view of 360°, and (2) an exocentric top-down view. We present the results from two studies that show how in most search tasks our zooming interfaces are faster and require less panning than an overlay- based tool, scaling better as the amount of information grows. © 2010 ACM.

Partial order reduction techniques have been used to combat the state explosion problem in model checking procedures for concurrent systems with probabilistic behaviors. There are some results that give criteria on applying partial order reduction for verifying quantitative time properties and reward-based properties on actions. However, there are many situations that reward-based properties are expressed on states rather than on actions because actions are triggered in no time and the quantities can not be obtained easily. This paper presents reduction criteria for a probabilistic temporal logic that allows specification of restrictions on quantitative measures given by spatial resources function for the states of the considered system and provides the proof of the correctness. © 2010 IEEE.
