The real solutions number of the switching angles for the SHEPWM inverter has been discussed in this paper. Firstly, the SHEPWM equations were transformed to polynomial equations with inequality constrains by using the multiple-angle formulas and variables substitution, then, the equivalent groebner bases of the polynomial equations were computed, finally, the real solutions number of the SHEPWM equations were discussed with the mechanical proving theory and algorithm of the semi-algebraic systems. The conclusion of there is only one solutions for the single phase SHEPWM inverter with less than 7 switching points in a quarter period and the theoretical maximum modulation ratio were derived for the first time. The experiments and simulations verify the correctness of these conclusions.

In this paper, we propose a simplified cubic polynomial R-D model with corresponding rate control methods for Versatile Video Coding (VVC) intra frame coding. First, we explore the rate-distortion (R-D) characteristics of VVC intra coding. By comparing several potential R-D modeling approaches, a new intra coding R-D model has been proposed based on the simplified cubic polynomial function. Subsequently, we derive the corresponding $R-\lambda$ model and introduce a complexity measurement to improve the performance of intra frame rate control. Furthermore, we propose a Coding Tree Unit (CTU)-level rate control method based on the newly proposed R-D model and further develop a pre-compression-based approach on this basis. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve 1.87% and 0.55% bit rate reduction for All-Intra (AI) and Random-Access (RA) configurations over the original rate control in VVC Test Model (VTM), while the computational complexity increment is negligible. Meanwhile, the enhanced bit rate accuracy from rate control has been observed in the proposed methods.

Latency, as a critical attribute influencing scalability and consistency in blockchain systems, has attracted significant research attention. This paper addresses the issue of latency evaluation by presenting a novel framework. We thoroughly analyze the factors affecting latency in blockchain system, including concurrency, consistency, and contention. To accurately model the correlation between latency and the quantity of nodes in permissioned blockchain setup, we introduce the Latency Regression Loss (LRL) function. By utilizing Newton’s interpolation and least squares methods, we determine the hyperparameters. Subsequently, we devise the framework for the Quantitative Dynamic Latency (QDL) evaluation model, which accounts for both the growth rate and magnitude of latency. Utilizing the parameters derived from the LRL function facilitated the calculation of latency growth rate, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of latency. Finally, we validated the accuracy of the LRL function through extensive experiments and simulated the adaptability of the QDL model in latency assessment.

Aiming at the problem that the robustness of gesture recognition is difficult to guarantee, this paper presents a method based on multi-features and sparse representation. Hu invariant moments and HOG features of training samples are extracted in training phase. The K-SVD algorithm is used to train the initial value of dictionary formed by two features so as to obtain two sub-dictionaries. In recognition phase, sparse coefficients of corresponding training dictionary are derived by solving minimum l1-norm. Finally, the overall reconstruction error is calculated to judge the categories of test samples. In experimental simulation, five kinds of grasp gesture are collected to create gesture sample library. After selecting optimal HOG parameters and the weight of two features, the recognition effect of the method is analysed. Compared with the commonly used classification, the results show that the method has better recognition rate and robustness. Copyright © 2016 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

RoIPool/RoIAlign is an indispensable process for the typical two-stage object detection algorithm, it is used to rescale the object proposal cropped from the feature pyramid to generate a fixed size feature map. However, these cropped feature maps of local receptive fields will heavily lose global context information. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel end-to-end trainable framework, called Global Context Aware (GCA) RCNN, aiming at assisting the neural network in strengthening the spatial correlation between the background and the foreground by fusing global context information. The core component of our GCA framework is a context aware mechanism, in which both global feature pyramid and attention strategies are used for feature extraction and feature refinement, respectively. Specifically, we leverage the dense connection to improve the information flow of the global context at different stages in the top-down process of FPN, and further use the attention mechanism to refine the global context at each level in the feature pyramid. In the end, we also present a lightweight version of our method, which only slightly increases model complexity and computational burden. How does the urban spatial landscape(USL)pattern affect the land surface urban heat islands(SUHIs)and canopy urban heat islands(CUHIs)?Based on satellite and meteorological observations,this case study compares the impacts of the USL pattern on SUHI and CUHI in the central urban area(CUA)of Beijing using the satellite land-surface-temperature product and hourly temperature data from automatic meteorological stations from 2009 to *** USL metrics—building height(BH),building density(BD),standard deviation of building height(BSD),floor area ratio(FAR),frontal area index(FAI),roughness length(RL),sky view factor(SVF),urban fractal dimension(FD),vegetation coverage(VC),impervious coverage(IC),and albedo(AB)—with a 500-m spatial resolution in the CUA are extracted for comparative *** results show that SUHI is higher than CUHI at night,and SUHI is only consistent with CUHI at spatial-temporal scales at night,particularly in ***,all 11 metrics are strongly correlated with both the SUHI and CUHI at night,with stronger correlation between most metrics and ***,AB,and SVF have the greatest impact on both the SUHI and *** SUHI and CUHI values tend to appear in areas with BD≥0.26,VC≤0.09,AB≤0.09,and SVF≤*** summer,most metrics have a greater impact on the SUHI than CUHI;the opposite is observed in *** variation is affected primarily by VC in summer and by VC and AB in winter,which is different for the CUHI *** collective contribution of all 11metrics to SUHI spatial variation in summer(61.8%)is higher than that to CUHI;however,the opposite holds in winter and for the entire year,where the cumulative contribution of the factors accounts for 66.6%and 49.6%,respectively,of the SUHI variation.

Phishing websites are typical starting points of online social engineering attacks, including many recent online scams. The attackers develop web pages mimicking legitimate websites, and send the malicious URLs to victims to lure them to input their sensitive information. Existing phishing defense mechanisms are not sufficient to detect with new phishing attacks. In this paper, we aim to improve phishing detection techniques using machine learning techniques. In particular, we propose a learning-based aggregation analysis mechanism to decide page layout similarity, which is used to detect phishing pages. Our experiment results shows that our approach is accurate and effective in detecting phishing pages.

We propose a two-phase test generation method to generate patterns targeting maximal path delay caused by multiple crosstalk effects. A timing analysis method based on transition map is proposed to manage the timing information of aggressor lines and victim lines in the first phase, followed by an ordinary ATPG engine with a few alterations in the second phase. This two-phase method avoids complex timing processing in ATPG algorithm. Using transition map instead of timing window in timing analysis, our method can more efficiently calculate the accumulative crosstalk-induced delay and find the sub-paths which cause maximal coupling effects. We can trade off accuracy and efficiency by controlling the size of timescale used in transition map, which makes this approach highly scalable.

Information and communication technology (ICT) has been an essential part of modern society. However, the current communication systems are not sufficient to meet the demands of emerging applications. Intellicise (intelligent and concise) wireless networks, with their inherent characteristics of intelligence-endogenous and primitive-concise, have been proposed as a promising research direction. In this paper, we focus on intellicise wireless networks from semantic communication (SemCom). We present a comprehensive framework of intellicise wireless networks, including components such as brain for intellicise wireless networks (BIWN), intellicise signal processing, intellicise information transmission, intellicise network organization, and intellicise service bearing. We also investigate the enabling technologies and driving factors of intellicise wireless networks. Subsequently, we introduce the applications of intellicise wireless networks and envision new services. Finally, we outline the challenges of implementing intellicise wireless networks from a broad perspective and discuss possible solutions. IEEE

Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as one of the key features of the next generation wireless networks, where timely delivery of status update packets is essential for many real-time IoT applications. To provide users with context-aware services and lighten the transmission burden, the raw data usually needs to be preprocessed before being transmitted to the destination. However, the effect of computing on the overall information freshness is not well understood. In this work, we first develop an analytical framework to investigate the information freshness, in terms of peak age of information (PAoI), of a computing enabled IoT system with multiple sensors. Specifically, we model the procedure of computing and transmission as a tandem queue, and derive the analytical expressions of the average PAoI for different sensors. Based on the theoretical results, we formulate a min-max optimization problem to minimize the maximum average PAoI of different sensors. We further design a derivative-free algorithm to find the optimal updating frequency, with which the complexity for checking the convexity of the formulated problem or obtaining the derivatives of the object function can be largely reduced. The accuracy of our analysis and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are verified with extensive simulation results. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.
