With the exponential growth of cross-modal information in railway data-to-service platforms, including accumulated text, images, files, and audiovisual materials, efficiently managing and utilizing these valuable resources has become an important issue for optimizing data organization and improving retrieval efficiency. This paper innovatively proposes a design scheme for an intelligent cross-modal data retrieval system tailored to the railway domain. The system aims to overcome the limitations of traditional single-modal retrieval by integrating multiple data types such as images and files, using names as core indices, to achieve seamless retrieval and integrated presentation of cross-modal information. This system not only accurately retrieves all modal information related to specific individuals, such as academic papers, on-site photos, research reports, and related news links, but also deeply extracts and categorizes key information, such as providing file paths, report titles, and enabling download operations, greatly enhancing the efficiency and precision of railway data utilization and retrieval. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co-salient object detection (CoSOD) aims to detect common salient objects across multiple related images. However, existing methods often struggle with limited attention coverage, missing some co-salient objects. To address this, we propose a two-stage feature processing module (FPM) comprising comprehensive feature extraction module (CFE) and feature enhancement module (FEM). CFE extracts comprehensive cosalient features while reducing background noise, and FEM enhances feature representation and adjusts attention weights for full object coverage. Additionally, we introduce an adversarial learning module (ALM) to improve prediction quality by reducing noise in the co-salient regions. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets—CoCA, CoSOD3k, and CoSal2015—demonstrate that our model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. Existing visual saliency prediction methods mainly focus on single-modal visual saliency prediction, while ignoring the significant impact of text on visual saliency. To more comprehensively explore the influence of text on human attention in images, we propose a text-guided diffusion saliency prediction model, named TDiffSal. In specific, recent studies on stable diffusion models have shown promising performance in unifying tasks due to their inherent generalization ability. Inspired by this, a novel diffusion model for generalized visual-text saliency prediction is proposed, which formulates the prediction issue as a conditional generative task of the saliency map by employing input visual and text as the conditions. Meanwhile, we introduce a multi-head fusion module to effectively integrate text features and image features, which can efficiently guide the image denoising process and progressively refine the generated saliency map to make it semantically relevant to the text. Additionally, we employ an efficient pre-training strategy to enhance the robustness and generalization of the proposed model. We conduct extensive experiments on benchmark datasets to demonstrate its superior performance compared to other state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Hyperspectral super-resolution involves combining low-resolution hyperspectral images with high-resolution multispectral images to produce a high-resolution hyperspectral image. Recently, although many methods for hyperspectral image super-resolution have been proposed, they often fail to fully utilize the high similarity among adjacent bands to enhance fusion performance. Therefore, we propose a grouping strategy-based progressive fusion network (GPFNet) for hyperspectral super-resolution. The core of GPFNet is the grouping strategy fusion block (GPF block), in which grouping-based spatial-spectral information fusion and spatial information refinement are performed. We design the spatial-spectral information fusion module (SSIFM) based on grouped convolutions to capture the feature differences from adjacent bands. To refine spatial details, we develop the spatial information enhancement module (SpaEM), which leverages the hierarchical features extracted by the multi-scale feature extraction module (MIEM). Additionally, a progressive fusion strategy, which involves using multiple upsampled hyperspectral images and downsampled multispectral images, further preserves spectral integrity and spatial details. Extensive experiments show that GPFNet outperforms state-of-the-art methods both qualitatively and quantitatively.

In the domain of facial recognition security, multimodal Face Anti-Spoofing (FAS) is essential for countering presentation attacks. However, existing technologies encounter challenges due to modality biases and imbalances, as well as domain shifts. Our research introduces a Mixture of Experts (MoE) model to address these issues effectively. We identified three limitations in traditional MoE approaches to multimodal FAS: (1) Coarse-grained experts’ inability to capture nuanced spoofing indicators; (2) Gated networks’ susceptibility to input noise affecting decision-making; (3) MoE’s sensitivity to prompt tokens leading to overfitting with conventional learning methods. To mitigate these, we propose the Bypass Isolated Gating MoE (BIG-MoE) framework, featuring: (1) Fine-grained experts for enhanced detection of subtle spoofing cues; (2) An isolation gating mechanism to counteract input noise; (3) A novel differential convolutional prompt bypass enriching the gating network with critical local features, thereby improving perceptual capabilities. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets demonstrate significant generalization performance improvement in multimodal FAS task. The code is released at https://***/murInJ/BIG-MoE.

The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding assigns standardized codes to diseases. Automating this process enhances the efficiency and accuracy of clinical records processing. However, current methods struggle with noisy and lengthy clinical texts, making it difficult to ensure the reliability of feature extraction. Furthermore, they typically make separate binary predictions for each code, overlooking the dependencies between them. To address these issues, we propose a novel model called Hierarchical Feature Optimization and Rescorer (HiRes). We employ a cascaded convolution architecture to mitigate noise and enhance feature representation. Additionally, a masked autoencoder-based rescorer is introduced to capture ICD code interdependencies, refining initial predictions for improved accuracy. The model also considers the inconsistencies in code representations. Experiments on the MIMIC datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our model.

Learning with Open-world Noisy Data via Class-independent Margin in Dual Representation Space

Learning with Noisy Labels (LNL) aims to improve the model generalization when facing data with noisy labels, and existing methods generally assume that noisy labels come from known classes, called closed-set noise. However, in real-world scenarios, noisy labels from similar unknown classes, i.e., open-set noise, may occur during the training and inference stage. Such open-world noisy labels may significantly impact the performance of LNL methods. In this study, we propose a novel dual-space joint learning method to robustly handle the open-world noise. To mitigate model overfitting on closed-set and open-set noises, a dual representation space is constructed by two networks. One is a projection network that learns shared representations in the prototype space, while the other is a One-Vs-All (OVA) network that makes predictions using unique semantic representations in the class-independent space. Then, bi-level contrastive learning and consistency regularization are introduced in two spaces to enhance the detection capability for data with unknown classes. To benefit from the memorization effects across different types of samples, class-independent margin criteria are designed for sample identification, which selects clean samples, weights closed-set noise, and filters open-set noise effectively. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and achieves an average accuracy improvement of 4.55% and an AUROC improvement of 6.17% on CIFAR80N. Multimodal image fusion aims to merge features from different modalities to create a comprehensively representative image. However, existing medical image fusion methods often struggle to handle noise generated during image acquisition, significantly diminishing their impact on visual quality. To address these challenges, we propose a semantically text-guided medical image fusion model, named TDMF. Specifically, TDMF guides classical image fusion through textual semantics and effectively coordinates the resolution of degradation and interaction issues during the fusion process. By integrating text encoders and interactive fusion modules, TDMF establishes a unified framework for denoising and interactive fusion of medical images. Extensive experiments have demonstrated that our proposed text-guided image fusion strategy offers significant advantages over state-of-the-art methods in medical image fusion performance.

Centralized training of deep learning-based network intrusion detection systems (DLNIDS) raises privacy concerns and incurs huge overhead. Federated learning (FL), while preserving privacy, confronts challenges including size imbalance, heterogeneous and global imbalance. To address these issues, this paper proposes a Self-Balancing Federated learning Network Intrusion Detection system (SBFedNIDS) for accurate and efficient network intrusion detection while preserving privacy and tackling negative impact caused by multiple imbalances resulting from FL. SBFedNΠ)S can efficiently mitigate model bias cause by multiple imbalances and addresses imbalances at data-level via federated cost sensitive learning (FCSL) and client synthetic minority over-sampling technique (CSMOTE), without requiring additional training resources, unlike generative models. Extensive experiments on a benchmark dataset show that SBFedNIDS outperforms baselines in multiple imbalanced scenarios and even surpasses centralized training in several settings.

As an emerging distributed technology, Federated learning enables model training while protecting privacy without sharing local data. However, the heterogeneity of geographic locations and devices leads to response delays from stragglers. Client grouping in federated learning can tolerate stragglers from a global perspective, but differences in data distribution within groups may result in local performance bias. To address this issue, we propose a federated learning method called FedSimRep, which selects representative clients based on data distribution similarity. FedSimRep performs group training by collecting readiness signals from topological communications and maintains synchronization tables and graphs to track training progress. Additionally, it selects representative clients by leveraging the relationship between local optimization similarity and data distribution similarity to optimize the global model. Experiments and theoretical analyses on public datasets such as MNIST, CIFAR-10, and UEU-Fed demonstrate that FedSimRep achieves significant advantages in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
