Asynchronous Graph Neural Network (AGNN) has attracted much research attention because it enables faster convergence speed than the synchronous GNN. However, existing software/hardware solutions suffer from redundant computation overhead and excessive off-chip communications for AGNN due to irregular state propagations along the dependency chains between vertices. This paper proposes a chain-driven asynchronous accelerator, CDA-GNN, for efficient AGNN inference. Specifically, CDA-GNN proposes a chain-driven asynchronous execution approach into novel accelerator design to regularize the vertex state propagations for fewer redundant computations and off-chip communications and also designs a chain-aware data caching method to improve data locality for AGNN. We have implemented and evaluated CDA-GNN on a Xilinx Alveo U280 FPGA card. Compared with the cutting-edge software solutions (i.e., Dorylus and AMP) and hardware solutions (i.e., BlockGNN and FlowGNN), CDA-GNN improves the performance of AGNN inference by an average of 1,173x, 182.4x, 10.2x, and 7.9x and saves energy by 2,241x, 242.2x, 12.4x, and 8.9x, respectively. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). With the growth of hardware and software resources, It becomes a challenge that how to ensure the Quality of service (QoS) of resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system. In order to solve this problem, the authors propose a control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling. In the control mechanism, we first propose a theoretical model. Then, we present an elicitation algorithm to resolve the optimal model. In order to justify the feasibility and availab.lity of this control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system, a series of experiments have been done. The results show that it is feasible to schedule the system resources and control the QoS of system resources for tasks in multiple virtual machine system. © 2010 IEEE.

With the development of the computer technology, the virtual machine has been become the main research topic. Understanding of the current technology and future trends of virtual machine system greatly help to improve the service performance of system. Therefore, we describe the current technology and present the future trends of virtual machine system in the paper. In the current technology of virtual machine system, we mainly describe the virtualization technology, the resource scheduling technology, the migration technology, the security technology and the performance evaluation technology. In the future trends of virtual machine system, we mainly present an overview of the future CPU architecture, the management mode of future memory and resource, the future maintaining method of system security and the performance evaluation method of future multiple virtual machine system. © 2010 IEEE.

It has become a very difficult problem that how to schedule the system resource in real time and improve the service performance of resource in a multiple virtual machine system. In order to solve this problem, the authors propose a real-time scheduling mechanism of resource for multiple virtual machine system. In the real-time scheduling mechanism of resource, the authors first describe the architecture of multiple virtual machine system. Then, the authors present a real-time scheduling strategy of resource. In order to justify the feasibility and the availab.lity of this resource scheduling mechanism, a series of experiments have been done. Partial order reduction techniques have been used to combat the state explosion problem in model checking procedures for concurrent systems with probabilistic behaviors. There are some results that give criteria on applying partial order reduction for verifying quantitative time properties and reward-based properties on actions. However, there are many situations that reward-based properties are expressed on states rather than on actions because actions are triggered in no time and the quantities can not be obtained easily. This paper presents reduction criteria for a probabilistic temporal logic that allows specification of restrictions on quantitative measures given by spatial resources function for the states of the considered system and provides the proof of the correctness. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper proposes a generalized model by extending Markov chain with spatial resources lab.ls, which can describe the functional and performance properties and some basic characteristics such as nondeterminacy and randomicity. The syntax and semantics of the new model are shown based on the existing temporal logics such as CSRL and pathCSRL. The model checking procedure is discussed and thus the practicability of the new model is intuitive. Based on the existing models, the proposed model includes spatial resources lab.ls only by adding the spatial information to the existing lab.ls of states, so the treatment of the state explosion problem is similar to that in the existing models. ©2010 IEEE.

With the emerging of smart metering around the world, there is a growing demand to analyse the residential energy usage. In this paper, we propose a Deep Neural Network (DNN)-based approach for non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM), which can achieve effective and efficient estimation of individual appliance usage according to a single main meter reading in a non-intrusive manner. Considering practical situations, two training methods are provided. The first training approach is fully supervised learning, which requires a ground truth of lab.l, indicating the state of the appliance (ON/OFF), to build a prediction model. The second training approach is semi-supervised learning, leading to better performance by F-Measure metric while only requiring some more unlab.lled training data. Experimental results on the low-sample rate REDD dataset demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed DNN-based method compared with Hidden Markov Model (HMM)based and Graph Signal Processing (GSP)-based approaches. © 2019 IEEE.

Thanks to the large-scale smart meters deployments around the world, non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NILM) is receiving popularity. It aims to disaggregate the total electricity load of a home into individual appliances without resorting to any specific appliance power monitors. NILM is worthy of broad attention owing to its facilitation in energy savings. This paper regards NILM as a classification task and proposes a two-step method based on graph signal processing (GSP). In the first step, a smoothest solution is obtained by minimizing the regularization term. In the second step, gradient projection method, which uses the obtained minimizer as a start point, is adopted to optimize the while objective function, where NILM is regarded as a constrained nonlinear programming problem. The experiment results based on the open-access data set REDD clearly demonstrate that the proposed GSP-based method achieves improved performance compared with other state-of-the-art low-rate NILM approaches. © 2019 IEEE.

The essence characteristics of software trustworthiness are software execution effect and behavior can be anticipated, which is an important index of software quality. Under the open and dynamic environments, some uncertainty factors cause the behavior of software to be uncontrolled, uncertainty and unpredictable. Behavior-aware networked software trustworthiness research methods are proposed in the paper. Firstly, we propose the analysis methods of the consistency between the inferred specification models with component specification model. Then, for analyzing the component interaction behavior, the behavior relativity analyzing method is presented based on Petri net. Finally, aimed to the outer factors, we analyze the behavioral congruence between theoretical composite models with dynamic behavior model based on running logs. Theoretical analysis and the example analysis indicated that this method is benefit to analyze the trustworthiness of networked software. © 2010, the authors.

Cache pollution, by which weak-locality data unduly replaces strong-locality data, may notably degrade application performance in a shared-cache multicore machine. This paper presents NightWatch, a cache management subsystem that provides general, transparent and lowoverhead pollution control to applications. NightWatch is based on the observation that data within the same memory chunk or chunks within the same allocation context often share similar locality property. NightWatch embodies this observation by online monitoring current cache locality to predict future behavior and restricting potential cache polluters proactively. We have integrated NightWatch into two popular allocators, tcmalloc and ptmalloc2. Experiments with SPEC CPU2006 show that NightWatch improves application performance by up to 45% (18% on average), with an average monitoring overhead of 0.57% (up to 3.02%). © 2015 USENIX Annual Technical Conference.
