The ability of road networks to withstand external disturbances is a crucial measure of transportation system performance, where resilience distinctly emerges as an effective perspective for its unique insights into the system's resistance and recovery capabilities. In the face of unforeseen resilience disturbance events, predictive and accurate assessment of road network resilience is essential for better traffic regulation and emergency response management. However, existing resilience assessment methods of road networks are insufficient: they lack reliable real-time big-data analysis, do not possess predictive capabilities for guiding decision-making, and have a narrow view with single-dimensional resilience indicators. To address these issues, focusing on rainfall disturbance scenarios, this work introduces a novel resilience assessment method, which is predictive and real-time, consisting of two components: a deep learning traffic indicator prediction model and a comprehensive resilience assessment model. Firstly, we propose a two-stage traffic indicator prediction model, namely the Conditional Diffusion-Reconstruction-based Graph Neural Network (CDRGNN), which particularly enhances disturbance-scenario prediction accuracy, thereby providing reliable foresight in aid of the following assessments. Subsequently, we develop a resilience assessment model featuring structural-functional comprehensive resilience indicators established through shortest-path aggregation, and the overall resilience assessment is performed through comparative analysis using indicators obtained in real-time with historical non-disruptive resilience benchmarks. In a case study focusing on heavy rainfall disturbances on a road network in California, the United States, abundant experiments and visualizations are conducted to demonstrate the rationality of our proposed comprehensive resilience indicators as well as the precision and reliability of these predictive resilience assessment outcom

Upper Bounds on Lifetime of Three Dimensional Extended UWB Sensor Networks*

The upper bounds on lifetime of three dimensional extended Time hopping impulse radio Ultrawide band (TH-IR UWB) sensor networks are derived using percolation theory arguments. The TH-IR UWB sensor network consists of $n$ sensor nodes distributed in a cube of edge length $n^{1/3}$ according to a Poisson point process of unit intensity. It is shown that for such a static three dimensional extended TH-IR UWB sensor network, the upper bound on the lifetime is of order $O(n^{-1})$ , while in the ideal case, the upper bound on the lifetime is longer than that of a static network by a factor of $n^{2/3}$ . Therefore sensor nodes moving randomly in the deployment area can improve the upper bound on network lifetime. The results also reveal that the upper bounds on network lifetime decrease with the number of nodes $n$ , thus extended TH-IR UWB sensor networks aren't prone to be employed in large-scale network.

LSR-IGRU: Stock Trend Prediction Based on Long Short-Term Relationships and Improved GRU

Stock price prediction is a challenging problem in the field of finance and receives widespread attention. In recent years, with the rapid development of technologies such as deep learning and graph neural networks, more research methods have begun to focus on exploring the interrelationships between stocks. However, existing methods mostly focus on the short-term dynamic relationships of stocks and directly integrating relationship information with temporal information. They often overlook the complex nonlinear dynamic characteristics and potential higher-order interaction relationships among stocks in the stock market. Therefore, we propose a stock price trend prediction model named LSR-IGRU in this paper, which is based on long short-term stock relationships and an improved GRU input. Firstly, we construct a long short-term relationship matrix between stocks, where secondary industry information is employed for the first time to capture long-term relationships of stocks, and overnight price information is utilized to establish short-term relationships. Next, we improve the inputs of the GRU model at each step, enabling the model to more effectively integrate temporal information and long short-term relationship information, thereby significantly improving the accuracy of predicting stock trend changes. Finally, through extensive experiments on multiple datasets from stock markets in China and the United States, we validate the superiority of the proposed LSR-IGRU model over the current state-of-the-art baseline models. We also apply the proposed model to the algorithmic trading system of a financial company, achieving significantly higher cumulative portfolio returns compared to other baseline methods. A Novel ICD Coding Method Based on Associated and Hierarchical Code Description Distillation

ICD(International Classification of Diseases) coding involves assigning ICD codes to patients visit based on their medical notes. ICD coding is a challenging multilabel text classification problem due to noisy medical document inputs. Recent advancements in automated ICD coding have enhanced performance by integrating additional data and knowledge bases with the encoding of medical notes and codes. However, most of them ignore the code hierarchy, leading to improper code assignments. To address these problems, we propose a novel method based on associated and hierarchical code description distillation (AHDD) for better code representation learning and avoidance of improper code *** utilize the code description and the hierarchical structure inherent to the ICD codes. Therefore, in this paper, we leverage the code description and the hierarchical structure inherent to the ICD codes. The code description is also applied to aware the attention layer and output layer. Sulfate-reducing bacteria（SRB） corrosion is one of the main reasons leading to the service failure of engineering materials in the marine environment. An understanding of SRB corrosion especially under continuous organic carbon starvation is required. In this work, SRB corrosion of X80 pipeline steel under continuous organic carbon starvation was studied using mass loss, electrochemical measurements, and surface analysis. The effects of initial SRB concentrations on steel corrosion were also studied and discussed. The results indicated that more than 99% population of SRB die after 21 d of testing in various conditions, but there are still amounts of SRB survivors. SRB survivors with continued organic carbon starvation have a better adaptive ability and accelerated steel corrosion. Both the uniform and localized corrosion rates are also proportional to the initial SRB concentration as well as SRB survivors. The localized corrosion rate and density of corrosion pits of specimen corresponding to an initial SRB count of 10～8 cells/m L reach bigger values of（0.693 ± 0.114） mm/y and（1.94 ± 0.39） ×10～4 pits/cm2, respectively, which are induced by the combination of the sessile and planktonic SRB.

Spatial-Temporal Interactive Dynamic Graph Convolution Network for Traffic Forecasting

Accurate traffic forecasting is essential for urban traffic control, route planning, and flow detection. Although many spatial-temporal methods are currently proposed, they are still deficient in synchronously capturing the spatial-temporal dependence of traffic data. In addition, most methods ignore the hidden dynamic associations that arise between the road network nodes as it evolves over time. We propose a neural network-based Spatial-Temporal Interactive Dynamic Graph Convolutional Network (STIDGCN) to address the above challenges for traffic forecasting. Specifically, we propose an interactive dynamic graph convolution structure which divides the traffic data by intervals and synchronously captures the divided traffic data‘s spatial-temporal dependence through an interactive learning strategy. The interactive learning strategy motivates STIDGCN effective for long-range forecasting. We also propose a dynamic graph convolution module through a novel dynamic graph generation method to capture the dynamically changing spatial correlations in the traffic network. Based on a priori knowledge and input data, the dynamic graph generation method can generate a dynamic graph structure, which allows exploring the unseen node connections in the road network and simulating the dynamic associations between nodes over time. Extensive experiments on four real-world traffic flow datasets demonstrate that STIDGCN outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

RKSeg+: make full use of Runge–Kutta methods in medical image segmentation

The dynamical system perspective has been used to build efficient image classification networks and semantic segmentation networks. Furthermore, the Runge–Kutta (RK) methods are powerful tools for building networks from the dynamical systems perspective. Hence, the Runge–Kutta segmentation network (RKSeg) for medical image segmentation was born. Skip connections and multiple scaling are often used in common models but lack mathematical explanations. RKSeg interprets and uses skip connections based on the RK methods. Therefore, RKSeg greatly improves segmentation efficiency. However, it does not explain and use multiple scales from a dynamical system perspective but only inherits the multi-scale scheme of existing models. We compensate for this shortcoming by interpreting and using multiple scales based on the RK methods. In addition, the network structure also limits the excellent image classification networks as the backbones of RKSegs. Therefore, we modify the network structure to support more image classification networks as backbones. As a result, we propose a novel network structure RKSeg+. Our proposed RKSeg+ achieves better segmentation results with fewer parameters than RKSeg. Furthermore, RKSeg+, well configured with few parameters, outperforms state-of-the-art models on six of the ten organ datasets in the Medical Segmentation Decathlon. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Correct after Answer: Enhancing Multi-Span Question Answering with Post-Processing Method

Multi-Span Question Answering (MSQA) requires models to extract one or multiple answer spans from a given context to answer a question. Prior work mainly focuses on designing specific methods or applying heuristic strategies to encourage models to predict more correct predictions. However, these models are trained on gold answers and fail to consider the incorrect predictions. Through a statistical analysis, we observe that models with stronger abilities do not predict less incorrect predictions compared with other models. In this work, we propose Answering-Classifying-Correcting (ACC) framework, which employs a post-processing strategy to handle incorrect predictions. Specifically, the ACC framework first introduces a classifier to classify the predictions into three types and exclude "wrong predictions", then introduces a corrector to modify "partially correct predictions". Experiments on several MSQA datasets show that ACC framework significantly improves the Exact Match (EM) scores, and further analysis demostrates that ACC framework efficiently reduces the number of incorrect predictions, improving the quality of predictions.1 © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

The Petri-net-based information flow analysis offers an effective approach for detecting information leakage by the concept of non-interference. Although the related studies propose efficient solutions, they lack quantitative evaluation on information leakage. In this paper, we propose a novel method for quantitative evaluation of information security based on stochastic labeled Petri nets (SLPNs) and information flow analysis. Specifically, we introduce four different levels of security metrics, and provide a methodology for evaluating the information security. Furthermore, a case study is presented to show the feasibility of our method.

Deep generative models, such as Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) and Variational Autoencoders (VAE), are widely used in collaborative filtering. They usually learn users’ preferences for items directly from a highly sparse user rating matrix (URM), and then recommend the top-N items to users. Due to the high sparsity of URM, GAN has limited ability to handle sparse data, while VAE’s encoder can extract features. Therefore, we propose a two-stage collaborative filtering framework based on variational autoencoders and generative adversarial networks, named VCFGAN. It first uses two VAEs to extract features from URM and side information (SI), and then uses the extracted latent vectors to train the GAN network. To evaluate the performance of our proposed VCFGAN model, some experiments are conducted on two real datasets, and the experimental results show that our model outperforms other representative models.
