Document-level event extraction faces numerous challenges in accurately modeling real-world financial scenarios, particularly due to the inadequacies in existing datasets regarding data scale and fine-grained annotations. The development of datasets is a crucial factor in driving research progress;therefore, we present a high-quality Chinese document-level event extraction dataset, CFinDEE. This dataset, grounded in real-world financial news, defines 22 event types and 116 argument roles, annotating 26,483 events and 107,096 event arguments. CFinDEE aims to address these shortcomings by providing more comprehensive annotations and data augmentation, offering richer resources for document-level event extraction in the financial domain. CFinDEE extends data both horizontally and vertically, where horizontal expansion enriches the types of financial events, enhancing the diversity of the dataset;vertical expansion, by increasing the scale of the data, effectively boosts the practical value of the dataset. Experiments conducted on multiple advanced models have validated the high applicability and effectiveness of the CFinDEE dataset for document-level event extraction tasks in the financial field. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). To endow the simulated quadruped robot with autonomous action control capabilities, this paper proposes the use of the PPO (Proximal Policy Optimization) algorithm, a deep reinforcement learning technique, to enable the quadruped robot to make autonomous decisions during walking tasks. Since walking tasks involve continuous actions that depend not only on the current state but also on past actions and states, this paper improves the PPO algorithm with LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) to enhance the autonomous decision-making ability of the quadruped robot during walking. Using PyBullet to simulate the walking environment of the quadruped robot, experiments have verified that the improved PPO algorithm significantly outperforms the unimproved PPO algorithm in terms of performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Elastic scaling in response to changes on demand is a main benefit of serverless computing. When bursty workloads arrive, a serverless platform launches many new containers and initializes function environments (known as cold starts), which incurs significant startup latency. To reduce cold starts, platforms usually pause a container after it serves a request, and reuse this container for subsequent requests. However, this reuse strategy cannot efficiently reduce cold starts because the schedulers are agnostic of container lifecycle. For example, it may ignore soon available containers or evict soon needed containers. We propose a container lifecycle-aware scheduling strategy for serverless computing, CAS. The key idea is to control distribution of requests and determine creation or eviction of containers according to different lifecycle phases of containers. We implement a prototype of CAS on OpenWhisk. Our evaluation shows that CAS reduces 81% cold starts and therefore brings a 63% reduction at 95th percentile latency compared with native scheduling strategy in OpenWhisk when there is worker contention between workloads, and does not add significant performance overhead. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Video stream analytics (VSA) systems fuel many exciting applications that facilitate people’s lives, but also raise critical concerns about exposing too much individuals’ privacy. To alleviate these concerns, various frameworks have been presented to enhance the privacy of VSA systems. Yet, existing solutions suffer two limitations: (1) being scenario-customized, thus limiting the generality of adapting to multifarious scenarios, (2) requiring complex, imperative programming, and tedious process, thus largely reducing the usability of such systems. In this paper, we present X-Stream, a privacy-preserving video transformer that achieves flexibility and efficiency for a large variety of VSA tasks. X-Stream features three major novel designs: (1) a declarative query interface that provides a simple yet expressive interface for users to describe both their privacy protection and content exposure requirements, (2) an adaptation mechanism that dynamically selects the most suitable privacy-preserving techniques and their parameters based on the current video context, and (3) an efficient execution engine that incorporates optimizations for multi-task deduplication and inter-frame inference. We implement X-Stream and evaluate it with representative VSA tasks and public video datasets. The results show that X-Stream achieves significantly improved privacy protection quality and performance over the state-of-the-art, while being simple to use.

It is well-established that terrestrial communication systems may fail during emergencies such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods. Fortunately, with the rapid advancement of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network technology, deploying UAV nodes as aerial base stations (BSs) is assuming an increasingly crucial role in facilitating downlink transmissions and restoring ground communication capabilities. However, a single UAV node is not sufficient to meet the requirements. Inspired by distributed communication, we introduce a performance analysis framework based on stochastic geometry to analyze the distributed coordinated multi-point (CoMP) UAV-assisted communication network. Specifically, we assume that all UAV nodes follow a homogeneous Poisson point process (PPP) and maintain a constant altitude. The entire space is tessellated by multiple hexagons, with multiple UAV nodes within each hexagonal region working together to serve terrestrial user equipments (UEs). For this region-centric cooperative model, we derive an exact expression for the coverage probability to quantify the performance improvement enabled by UAVs, analyze the upper bound of the coverage probability, and provide a simplified approximation. We then compare this model to a user-centric model. Our numerical findings demonstrate that the cooperation of UAV nodes can significantly enhance the coverage probability and save spectrum resources. © 2024 IEEE.

This study introduces the research methods for detecting changes in the mangroves of Dongzhaigang, Hainan from 2019 to 2023. Mangrove ecosystems play a crucial role in providing habitats and have ecological and economic value, but in recent years, they have faced degradation and management issues. In order to effectively monitor mangrove changes, researchers have utilized remote sensing techniques and machine learning methods for mangrove cover information extraction and classification. The paper describes the methods of estimating mangrove cover using remote sensing satellite imagery and spectral indices and explores the applications of clustering, decision trees, support vector machines, and deep learning in mangrove change detection. The research results indicate that the support vector machine algorithm performs well in classifying mangrove and non-mangrove areas. This study provides a basis for the management and decision-making of Dongzhaigang Mangrove Nature Reserve in Hainan Province and highlights the future research potential in the application of multi-source and multi-resolution data and deep learning techniques. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Colored Petri Nets (CPNs) provide descriptions of the concurrent behaviors for software and hardware. Model checking based on CPNs is an effective method to simulate and verify the concurrent behavior in system design. However, the model checking method traverses the full state space, which suffers from the state space explosion problem. A reduced state space generation method related to the property of concurrent systems is proposed. Specifically, we extend CPNs to define a property-related model (CPN-PR) and give a property-related analysis method whose results can be used to generate the CPN-PR model. A reduced state space generation method is developed based on enabled binding element filtering rules. The stutter trace equivalence between the state spaces of CPN and CPN-PR has been proven by showing that the reduced state space may not change the model checking result. A comparison experiment is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Recently, graph neural networks(GNNs) have played a key crucial in many recommendation situations. In particular, contrastive learning-based hypergraph neural networks (HGNNs) are gradually becoming a research focus for addressing issues of data sparsity and noise. Despite many studies proving their outstanding performance, there are still some shortcomings: i) Most contrastive learning-based HGNNs primarily rely on cross-view contrastive learning, while neglecting contrastive learning on the interaction graph. ii) Utilizing node embedding for hypergraph structure learning is susceptible to the influence of low-quality representations, thereby constraining the learning capability of HGNNs. To address these issues, we offer a Semantic Similarity-based Graph Contrastive Learning framework (SSGCL), which aims to jointly learn representations with rich semantic information through within-view and cross-view contrastive learning. Specifically, we first introduce consistency contrastive learning, which captures self-supervised signals through semantic similarity between nodes and their neighborhoods. It better captures the unique features of nodes through the connections between nodes and their neighborhoods. Then, we utilize interaction graph learning hypergraph structure, promoting it to extract potential node connections and thus improving its ability to describe homogeneous node relationships. In recent times, appropriate decision-making in challenging and critical situations has been very well supported by multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. The technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is the most widely used MCDM method for solving decision problems. However, it restricts decision-makers to use only one type of Quality of Service (QoS) information, and it suffers from the rank reversal problem. Restriction to only one type of QoS makes the decision problems more challenging, as it restricts the decision-makers freedom. Further, the rank reversal problem makes the decision result unreliable. To address these issues of TOPSIS, we have proposed a reliable rank reversal robust modular TOPSIS (RMo-TOPSIS). RMo-TOPSIS allows crisp, interval, fuzzy, intuitionistic and neutrosophic fuzzy QoS metrics. It does not suffer from the rank reversal problem. Cloud computing provides computing services on-demand basis without involving maintenance by its users. The availability of many cloud service providers and their services makes cloud service selection a challenging problem. To validate RMo-TOPSIS, we select the cloud service selection consisting of different types of QoS metrics as an application.
