The advancement of intelligent transportation systems underscores the importance of data-driven approaches in traffic forecasting, which plays a crucial role in tasks such as traffic signal control and route guidance, among others. However, the inherent uncertainty stemming from regional traffic dynamics, coupled with intricate spatio-temporal correlations, poses formidable challenges to accurate traffic prediction. Moreover, the complexities inherent in sequence forecasting across varying scales further exacerbate the accuracy dilemma. Recognizing the need for integrating information across spatial and temporal dimensions to enhance forecasting precision, a novel solution termed Spatial Temporal Masked Autoencoder (STMAE) is introduced. The STMAE framework addresses these challenges through a two-stage learning process. In the pre-training phase, an autoencoder architecture is employed to extract spatio-temporal features from the data. In the fine-tuning phase, the pre-trained encoder of the STMAE model undergoes further refinement to specifically target traffic forecasting tasks. Extensive evaluations validate the effectiveness of the proposed STMAE model. Notably, STMAE demonstrates competitive performance, achieving 3.32 Vehs MAE for long-term (60 min) traffic forecasting while operating within a reduced computational budget. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Federated Learning enables collaboratively model training among a number of distributed devices with the coordination of a centralized server, where each device alternatively performs local gradient computation and communication to the server. FL suffers from significant performance degradation due to the excessive communication delay between the server and devices, especially when the network bandwidth of these devices is limited, which is common in edge environments. Existing methods overlap the gradient computation and communication to hide the communication latency to accelerate the FL training. However, the overlapping can also lead to an inevitable gap between the local model in each device and the global model in the server that seriously restricts the convergence rate of learning process. To address this problem, we propose a new overlapping method for FL, AOCC-FL, which aligns the local model with the global model via calibrated compensation such that the communication delay can be hidden without deteriorating the convergence performance. Theoretically, we prove that AOCC-FL admits the same convergence rate as the non-overlapping method. On both simulated and testbed experiments, we show that AOCC-FL achieves a comparable convergence rate relative to the non-overlapping method while outperforming the state-of-the-art overlapping methods.

Real-world data ubiquitously exhibit long-tailed distribution, which sparks the increasing interest in long-tailed object detection (LTOD). However, existing methods neglect that a lack of diverse data in tail classes will cause underrepresented tail class features, making their efforts for balancing foreground classes tend to over-fit tail classes and be less effective. In this paper, we propose a multi-class co-attention generation network to increase data diversity of tail classes by generating augmented samples. To alleviate imbalance, we develop a distribution-aware up-sampling strategy, performing differential up-sampling for different classes and design a bi-directional regulation loss to adjust both positive and negative gradients. Moreover, we construct a new dataset LVIS-X with more rare classes based on existing LTOD benchmark dataset LVIS. Experiments on LVIS and LVIS-X demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.

generating new molecules is very important for drug design. Currently, many deep generative models have been designed, such as variational autoencoder (VAE), adversarial autoencoder (AAE), and reinforcement learning (RL). However, many problems are also existed in these models. Firstly, the information among molecules could be not utilized in optimizing these models. Secondly, some useful molecule information could be not used, such as fingerprint. Thirdly, the information contained in different molecule representations could be not used together. To overcome the above problems, in this paper, a multi-label learning and adversarial autoencoder (MLAAE) based de novo drug design method is designed. MLAAE enhances its learning ability with a new designed multi-label classifier and a new designed double AAEs collaborative optimization framework. These new designs can learn a better latent space whose global distribution is similar with the random distribution, but local distribution contains much information. As a result, the generator can be trained by more information, and the input of generator in testing is similar with that in training. The conducted experiments validate the effectiveness of our MLAAE. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel method for multi-lane convoy formation control that uses large language models (LLMs) to tackle coordination challenges in dynamic highway environments. Each connected and autonomous vehicle in the convoy uses a knowledge-driven approach to make real-time adaptive decisions based on various scenarios. Our method enables vehicles to dynamically perform tasks, including obstacle avoidance, convoy joining/leaving, and escort formation switching, all while maintaining the overall convoy structure. We design a Interlaced formation control strategy based on locally dynamic distributed graphs, ensuring the convoy remains stable and flexible. We conduct extensive experiments in the SUMO simulation platform across multiple traffic scenarios, and the results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective, robust, and adaptable to dynamic environments. The current image-text cross-modal retrieval faces challenges due to the heterogeneous nature of different modalities. This paper proposes an improved model based on multi-scale modal distance learning to enhance the performance of coarse-grained and fine-grained image-text matching. In the image encoding part, an improved ResNet architecture is adopted, utilizing upsampling techniques to better preserve key semantic information. For text encoding, BERT and Bi-LSTM models are combined to extract shallow and deep textual features, respectively. We design a coarse-fine granularity interaction mechanism, leveraging a bidirectional stacked Transformer to achieve local similarity interaction between image regions and text words, while also using Bi-LSTM-extracted contextual features to interact with global image features for global similarity matching. Additionally, this paper introduces a novel multi-scale modal contrastive loss, which dynamically adjusts the distance between samples of different modalities, thereby improving the model's sensitivity to semantic similarity. Experimental results on the COCO 5K and Flickr30K datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing mainstream methods in both retrieval accuracy and efficiency, achieving complementary advantages between coarse- and fine-grained features. This provides an effective solution and new research direction for cross-modal retrieval.

The existing group public key encryption with equality test schemes could only support one-to-one data sharing and are not suitable for cloud-assisted autonomous transportation systems, which demand one-to-many data sharing. To tackle this problem efficiently, in this article, we put forward the group-attribute-based encryption with equality test (G-ABEET) scheme. The presented G-ABEET allows sensors equipped in vehicles to encrypt traffic data with an expressive access policy before sharing it. Only users with attributes required by the access policy ought to access the shared ciphertexts, thus achieving selective one-to-many data sharing. Meanwhile, the authorized cloud server could provide group users with equality tests over the ciphertexts, realizing ciphertext search ability. Furthermore, with the group mechanism, the G-ABEET scheme could resist offline message recovery attacks. Besides, in the standard model, we give rigorous security proof of the G-ABEET construction. The feasibility and efficiency of G-ABEET are demonstrated by experimental simulations. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Deep Learning-Enabled ISAC-OTFS Pre-equalization Design for Aerial-Terrestrial Networks

Orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation has been viewed as a promising technique for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems and aerial-terrestrial networks, due to its delay-Doppler domain transmission property and strong Doppler-resistance capability. However, it also suffers from high processing complexity at the receiver. In this work, we propose a novel pre-equalization based ISAC-OTFS transmission framework, where the terrestrial base station (BS) executes pre-equalization based on its estimated channel state information (CSI). In particular, the mean square error of OTFS symbol demodulation and Cramér-Rao lower bound of sensing parameter estimation are derived, and their weighted sum is utilized as the metric for optimizing the pre-equalization matrix. To address the formulated problem while taking the time-varying CSI into consideration, a deep learning enabled channel prediction-based pre-equalization framework is proposed, where a parameter-level channel prediction module is utilized to decouple OTFS channel parameters, and a low-dimensional prediction network is leveraged to correct outdated CSI. A CSI processing module is then used to initialize the input of the pre-equalization module. Finally, a residual-structured deep neural network is cascaded to execute pre-equalization. Simulation results show that under the proposed framework, the demodulation complexity at the receiver as well as the pilot overhead for channel estimation, are significantly reduced, while the symbol detection performance approaches those of conventional minimum mean square error equalization and perfect CSI. In this paper, we propose a simple but effective method for dealing with the challenging fine-grained cross-modal retrieval task where it aims to enable flexible retrieval among subor-dinate categories across different modalities. Specifically, in order to enhance information interaction in different modalities for fine-grained objects, a channel mix method is developed and performed upon the channels of deep activations across dif-ferent modalities. After that, a 1 x 1 convolution is employed to aggregate the mixed channels into a unified feature vector. Moreover, equipped with a novel fine-grained cross-modal cen-ter loss, our method can further improve the intra-class separa-bility as well as inter-class compactness for multi-modalities. Experiments are conducted on the fine-grained cross-modal benchmark dataset and show our superiority over competing methods. Meanwhile, ablation studies also demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposals. © 2022 IEEE.
