In this short paper, we present our solution to index, store and retrieve the domain knowledge. The main principle exploits Lucene to index the domain knowledge under guide of the domain schema. The method to map domain knowledge structure into Lucene index structure, store and update the indices, and to transfer RDF-based query into Lucene's query are presented. Copyright 2007 ACM.

P2P technology has been widely adopted in live streaming system for its scalab.lity and low commercial cost. However, tree based system or mesh based system still has to face the constraint or tradeoff caused by its solo shaped overlay construction. To address this problem, this paper introduces a tree-mesh based hybrid overlay and an optimized scheduling method. These works have been proven efficient in terms of low control overhead and better streaming experience compared with other systems. All algorithms and methods have been implemented in Anysee2. © 2007 IEEE.

A series of problems arises with the emergence and fast development of grid. Among all the problems, one of them is how to smoothly connect heterogeneous grid platforms. There are a number of ways to solve this problem and the relatively more efficient one is using ontology. Based on this method, we focus on alleviating semantic inconsistency of various platforms and designing a novel ontology. This ontology is depicted by Resource Description Framework (RDF) and transacted by adapters. Finally, we test our method and analyze its performance. © 2007 IEEE.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks have been shown to be a promising approach to provide instant voice services over the Internet for its potential high scalab.lity. However, for one paired peers, how to efficiently transmit voice data among peers in such networks remains a major challenge. Hereby this paper proposed some hybrid routing schemes for P2P transmitting system, which include improved random detection algorithm, delay binary tree search algorithm, AS-aware discovery algorithm. With the help of these novel routing schemes, we can choose the correct algorithm to transfer media data, in small size but low delay, among peers in P2P network. Simulations show that these new routing strategies achieve obvious effect. © 2008 ACM.

In this paper, we propose a scalab.e service scheme for secure group communication in grid. In the service scheme, a series of methods and strategies are presented, such as the initialization methods for group member, administrative domain and virtual organization, the key distribution strategy and the rekeying strategy. In order to improve the scalab.lity of this service scheme, the services for a group are logically divided into two hierarchical levels, which is in accordance with the characteristics of group communication in grid. In addition, in order to show the efficiency and the scalab.lity of the service scheme, simulation experiments are done. The results show that the service scheme is efficient and scalab.e. Thus, the service scheme can satisfy the requirement of people in large-scale, dynamic grid environment. © 2007 IEEE.

It is still a challenging task to provide large scale video-on-demand (VoD) streaming services based on overlay network due to its inherent dynamicity and heterogeneity. Most of previous work has focused on how to construct a structured overlay to tackle this issue, i.e., tree-based overlay and DHT. However, they always suffer from inefficient resource utilization and poor reliability. In this paper, we propose a new solution based on unstructured overlay, called GridCast, in which a directional gossip protocol and a score-based partner selection algorithm are designed to explore multiple data suppliers for each joined peer. In this way, GridCast can make efficient use of the availab.e upload bandwidth of peers to achieve better scalab.lity and reliability. The experimental results from our early deployment show that it is feasible to provide scalab.e VoD services based on unstructured overlay. © 2007 IEEE.

Compliance checker is an important component for automated trust negotiation (ATN) to examine whether the credentials match the access control policies. A good design for compliance checker helps to speed up trust establishment between parties during the negotiation, and can also improve negotiation efficiency. Unfortunately, it has been noted that compliance checker has got little attention in design and implementation. On the contrary, more work has been spent on the algorithms on how to protect sensitive information. A RT0 based compliance checker (RBCC) model for ATN is presented in this paper. We give its architecture and workflow, and illustrate how it works through a practical example. The case study shows that the model satisfies compliance checker's basic requirements and provides good information feedback mechanism to protect sensitive information. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

The bandwidth bottleneck and the high rate of losing packets are the major obstacles when extending P2P live streaming system to WLAN. To tide over them, a new wireless multicast agent mechanism (WiMA) based on the IP multicast buffering schedule is proposed. Wireless multicast agent gains media data by interacting with wired neighbor peers as a common P2P node, and sends data to other wireless peers in WLAN by means of multicast pushing and multicast patching. A normal wireless peer requests data according to the strategy of "emergent ones first". Experiments show that WiMA can save bandwidth in WLAN obviously with acceptable start delay and satisfied playing continuity. © 2007 IEEE.

VCA (virtual client access) based grid information integration strategy is proposed in this paper that brings forward one efficient application framework with loosely coupled architecture. It encapsulates the virtual clients that are realized based on the API of the information systems as grid services to enable the grid can access the information systems as real client. VCA mode can be combined with local access control and task management seamlessly, and solve the resource conflicts between grid and local users so as to support the information sharing and cooperation widely and efficiently. The experiment shows that VCA modes can support the information sharing and cooperation widely and efficiently.

Impedance matching for microwave amplifiers have been investigated extensively using different methods such as stub matching for broadband applications. In the present communication broadband impedance matching technique has been developed by combining the amplifier module with series microstrip transmission lines with optimum characteristic impedance (Z c ) and electrical length. Resistive loading are used at both the source and load terminals to ensure unconditional stability. Different variable parameters like resistance values, characteristics impedance and length of the transmission line are used to design the amplifier. . The analysis of the design circuit has been carried out using multiplication of transmission matrices. This unique method hitherto unpublished can be used as a broadbandning technique for designing microwave amplifiers.
