An edge-based model for non-Markovian sexually transmitted infections in coupled network

In this paper,allowing for general transmission and recovery times distributions,we proposed an edge-based age-structured-like compartmental model for STIs(EBACMS)in a coupled *** considered sexual transmissions between men with also heterosexual ***,we gave the general approach of proving the nonnegativity of solutions for the system coupling ordinary and partial differen-tial equations,which can be applied to all edge-based compartment *** then analyzed the epidemic threshold Ro with different distributions which couples the thresholds of the single-layer and bipartite networks in the percolation *** also studied the global stability of disease-free equilibrium with R0<1 and the final epidemic size F(the proportion of the population experiencing infection during the epidemic)with R0>*** addition,numerical simulations indicated that given a fixed exponential transmission distribution,a higher variance(with same mean)in general recovery distribution gives smaller R0 and *** analysis on Ro and F in terms of the parameters illustrated that male-to-male transmission routes have a greater impact on Rg and F than the heterosexual transmission routes for the Markovian transmission process and arbitrary recovery *** results provide a good theoretical guideline to consider the distributions of real-world STIs.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of coordination between economic dispatch (ED) and demand response (DR) in multi-energy systems (MESs), aiming to improve the economic utility and reduce the waste of energy in MESs. Since multiple energy sources are coupled through energy hubs (EHs), the supply-demand constraints are nonconvex. To deal with this issue, we propose a linearization method to transform the coordination problem to a convex social welfare optimization one. Then a decentralized algorithm based on parallel Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) and dynamic average tracking protocol is developed, where each agent could only make decisions based on information from their neighbors. Moreover, under the assumption of convexity, we show convergence of the algorithm estimates to the global optimal solution. Finally, a case study on the modified IEEE 14-bus network verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of our algorithm.

Recent progresses have revealed that quantum systems with multiple position-dependent couplings, e.g., giant atoms, can exhibit some unconventional phenomena, such as non-exponential decay etc. However, their potential applications are still open questions. In this paper, we propose a giant-cavity-based quantum sensor for the first time, whose performance can be greatly enhanced compared to traditional cavity-based sensors. In our proposal, two cavities couple to a dissipative reservoir at multiple points while they couple to a gain reservoir in a single-point way. To detecting a unknown parameter using this sensor, a waveguide is coupled to one of the cavities where detecting fields can pass through for homodyne detection. We find that multiple position-dependent couplings can induce an inherent non-reciprocal coupling between the cavities, which can enhance the performance of sensors. Output noise in our scheme can be reduced to the shot noise level, which is about one order magnitude lower than the results in Ref. [Lau and Clerk (2018)]. Besides, the signal-to-noise ratio per photon is also enhanced by about one order of magnitude. These results show that the multiple-point-coupling structure is beneficial to nowadays quantum devices. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a new reduced-order dynamic output-feedback protocol to solve the bipartite consensus problem of homogeneous linear multi-agent systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the bipartite consensus problem are derived and the consensus state trajectories are obtained in an explicit form. Compared with existing results, the novelties of the proposed protocol are two-fold: Firstly, the protocol relies on relative output information of agents within each group and secondly, the protocol state ultimately converges to zero if bipartite consensus is reached. Furthermore, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed protocol.

Joint Offloading Decision and Resource Allocation for Vehicular Fog-Edge Computing Networks: A Contract-Stackelberg Approach

With the popularity of mobile devices and development of computationally intensive applications, researchers are focusing on offloading computation to Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) server due to its high computational efficiency and low communication delay. As the computing resources of an MEC server are limited, vehicles in the urban area who have abundant idle resources should be fully utilized. However, offloading computing tasks to vehicles faces many challenging issues. In this paper, we introduce a vehicular fog-edge computing paradigm and formulate it as a multi-stage Stackelberg game to deal with these issues. Specifically, vehicles are not obligated to share resources, let alone disclose their private information (e.g., stay time and the amount of resources). Therefore, in the first stage, we design a contract-based incentive mechanism to motivate vehicles to contribute their idle resources. Next, due to the complicated interactions among vehicles, road-side unit (RSU), MEC server and mobile device users, it is challenging to coordinate the resources of all parties and design a transaction mechanism to make all entities benefit. In the second and third stages, based on Stackelberg game, we develop pricing strategies that maximize the utilities of all parties. The analytical forms of optimal strategies for each stage are given. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed incentive mechanism, reveal the trends of energy consumption and offloading decisions of users with various parameters, and present the performance comparison between our framework and existing MEC offloading paradigm in vehicular networks. © 2022, CC BY.

Due to the light absorption and scattering induced by the water medium, underwater images usually suffer from some degradation problems, such as low contrast, color distortion, and blurring details, which aggravate the difficulty of downstream underwater understanding tasks. Therefore, how to obtain clear and visually pleasant images has become a common concern of people, and the task of underwater image enhancement (UIE) has also emerged as the times require. Among existing UIE methods, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) based methods perform well in visual aesthetics, while the physical model-based methods have better scene adaptability. Inheriting the advantages of the above two types of models, we propose a physical model-guided GAN model for UIE in this paper, referred to as PUGAN. The entire network is under the GAN architecture. On the one hand, we design a Parameters Estimation subnetwork (Par-subnet) to learn the parameters for physical model inversion, and use the generated color enhancement image as auxiliary information for the Two-Stream Interaction Enhancement subnetwork (TSIE-subnet). Meanwhile, we design a Degradation Quantization (DQ) module in TSIE-subnet to quantize scene degradation, thereby achieving reinforcing enhancement of key regions. On the other hand, we design the Dual-Discriminators for the style-content adversarial constraint, promoting the authenticity and visual aesthetics of the results. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate that our PUGAN outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both qualitative and quantitative metrics. Maintaining energy balance and economical operation is significant for multi-energy systems such as the energy hub (EH). However, it is usually challenged by the frequently changing and unpredictable uncertain parameters at different timescales. Under this scope, this paper investigates the coordinated energy management problem for day-ahead and intra-day conditions considering uncertainties of source-load and market prices concurrently. Note that the precise knowledge of distributions about uncertainties may be unaccessible before the decision-making in day-ahead phase. A two-stage chance-constrained model based on distributionally robust approach with ambiguous moment information is proposed to immunize scheduling strategies against the worst-case probability distributions. The first stage is dedicated to obtaining more energy arbitrage and operation flexibility by optimizing bidding strategies in day-ahead power, natural gas and carbon trading markets. The second stage focuses on the optimization of the worst-case expected operation cost. It provides a robust energy equipment and load scheduling strategy for the reference of subsequent intra-day arrangements. With respect to different variations of electrical and thermal components, an intra-day two-timescale coordination is implemented step by step. The energy scheduling is re-dispatched circularly to minimize the operation and penalty costs. The possible energy imbalance is also compensated by this way. As the energy management program is nonlinear, chance-constrained and multi-stage, some linearization and dual transformation techniques are designed to enhance tractability of the program. Experimental results show that the developed multi-level framework results in a carbon emission decrease of 37%, and reduces energy cost averagely 3% compared with corresponding contrasting cases. Panoptic segmentation combines the advantages of semantic and instance segmentation, which can provide both pixel-level and instance-level environmental perception information for intelligent vehicles. However, it is challenged with segmenting objects of various scales, especially on extremely large and small ones. In this work, we propose two lightweight modules to mitigate this problem. First, Pixel-relation Block is designed to model global context information for large-scale things, which is based on a query-independent formulation and brings small parameter increments. Then, Convectional Network is constructed to collect extra high-resolution information for small-scale stuff, supplying more appropriate semantic features for the downstream segmentation branches. Based on these two modules, we present an end-to-end Scale-aware Unified Network (SUNet), which is more adaptable to multi-scale objects. With the increase of research on autonomous vehicles, the evaluation research of autonomous vehicles has gradually attracted attention. Effective evaluation of autonomous vehicles can ensure the safety of autonomous vehicles and improve their level of intelligence. The current related research focuses on the evaluation of vehicles in terms of safety and comfort, while there are few studies on the evaluation of the learning ability of autonomous vehicles from the time dimension. Therefore, this article proposes three learning indicators: learning time, learning speed and learning capacity. These three indicators are used to measure the learning ability of autonomous driving algorithms. By analyzing the learning curve of the vehicle algorithm, the evaluation results of three learning indicators can be obtained. Thus the learning ability of the automatic driving algorithm can be evaluated. The differences in different vehicle algorithms can also be compared. In this article, taking the parking algorithm based on reinforcement learning as an example, simulation examples and analysis of the three learning indicators proposed are carried out.
