A Learning Convolutional Neural Network Approach for Network Robustness Prediction

Network robustness is critical for various societal and industrial networks again malicious attacks. In particular, connectivity robustness and controllability robustness reflect how well a networked system can maintain its connectedness and controllability against destructive attacks, which can be quantified by a sequence of values that record the remaining connectivity and controllability of the network after a sequence of node- or edge-removal attacks. Traditionally, robustness is determined by attack simulations, which are computationally very time-consuming or even practically infeasible. In this paper, an improved method for network robustness prediction is developed based on learning feature representation using convolutional neural network (LFR-CNN). In this scheme, higher-dimensional network data are compressed to lower-dimensional representations, and then passed to a CNN to perform robustness prediction. Extensive experimental studies on both synthetic and real-world networks, both directed and undirected, demonstrate that 1) the proposed LFR-CNN performs better than other two state-of-the-art prediction methods, with significantly lower prediction errors;2) LFR-CNN is insensitive to the variation of the network size, which significantly extends its applicability;3) although LFR-CNN needs more time to perform feature learning, it can achieve accurate prediction faster than attack simulations;4) LFR-CNN not only can accurately predict network robustness, but also provides a good indicator for connectivity robustness, better than the classical spectral measures. © 2022, CC BY.

This paper investigates the distributed observer design for linear system under time-variant disconnected communication network. By constructing basic eigenvectors of 0-eigensubspace of disconnected Laplacian Matrix and using LMIs method, we prove the distributed observer cannot achieve omniscience asymptotically under switching topology without constraining the system matrix or alternative topologies set. To deal with this problem, this paper investigates three kinds of constraints and the system matrix only needs to satisfy any one of them. Then a group of sufficient conditions corresponding to the asymptotic omniscience of distributed observer under switching topology are proved by Lyapunov analysis. Finally, a numerical simulation shows the validity of our method.

TCP ensures reliable transmission through its stateful implementation and remains crucial today. TCP performance profiling is essential for tasks like diagnosing network performance problems, optimizing transmission performance, and developing new TCP variants, etc. Existing profiling methods lack enough attention to TCP state transition to provide detailed insights on TCP performance. Thus, we build TcpSight, a tool focusing on TCP state transition throughout connection lifetimes. TcpSight conducts stateful analysis by capturing key events using an efficient per-connection lock-free data management mechanism. Besides, TcpSight enhances profiling by integrating application layer information collected from the TCP stack. With the profiling results, users can identify the culprit of TCP performance degradation, and evaluate the performance of TCP algorithms. We design optional modules and filtering mechanisms to reduce TcpSights overhead. Our evaluation presents that TcpSight incurs an additional CPU consumption of about 16.6% (without filtering) and 10.6% (with filtering) when the server's load is 55.7%, and generates storage consumption about 1.88 KB per connection on average. We also give application cases of TcpSight and the deployment experiences in Alibaba Cloud. TcpSight helps in revealing meaningful findings and insights into exploiting TCP in the production deployment. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

This paper examines the event-triggered consensus of the multi-agent system on matrix-weighted networks, where the interdependencies among higher-dimensional states of neighboring agents are characterized by matrix-weighted edges in the network. Specifically, a novel distributed dynamic event-triggered coordination strategy is proposed for this category of generalized networks, in which an auxiliary system is employed for each agent to dynamically adjust the triggering threshold, which plays an essential role in guaranteeing that the triggering time sequence does not exhibit Zeno behavior. Distributed event-triggered control protocols are proposed to guarantee leaderless and leader-follower consensus for multi-agent systems on matrix-weighted networks, respectively. Remarkably, the spectrum of matrix-valued weights is crucial in event-triggered mechanism design for matrix-weighted networks, generalizing those results only applicable for scalar-weighted networks. The proposed approach allows each agent to broadcast and receive information only at its triggering instants. Finally, simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the theoretical results. The improvement of urban greening level makes sanitary work more complicated and difficult, especially, for the seasonal leaf cleaning on roads in the park, campus etc.. With the rapid development of computer vision, it is a feasible and innovative way to detect and clean the fallen leaves effectively with intelligent robot. However, since the irregular shape and size, uneven distribution of fallen leaves and complex outdoor conditions, especially the densely stacked leaves, even current advanced object detection algorithm has no satisfactory effect on detection of fallen leaves. To deal with the dense leaves detection problem and improve navigation efficiency, we propose a Non-Maximum Fusion(NMF) algorithm. NMF scales the high-confidence box with the pre-defined δ to fuse intersecting and adjacent boxes instead of supressing these boxes. The experiments on the fallen leaves data set shows that NMF improves the fallen leaves detection coverage significantly and the coverage reaches to 95%. Also, NMF greatly reduces the number of goal nodes for path planning. Since NMF functions at the back end of detector to process detection boxes without training, it can be intergrated into any fallen leaves detection pipeline easily.

Detecting the marking characters of industrial metal parts remains challenging due to low visual contrast, uneven illumination, corroded surfaces, and cluttered background of metal part images. Affected by these factors, bounding boxes generated by most existing methods could not locate low-contrast text areas very well. In this paper, we propose a refined feature-attentive network (RFN) to solve the inaccurate localization problem. Specifically, we first design a parallel feature integration mechanism to construct an adaptive feature representation from multi-resolution features, which enhances the perception of multi-scale texts at each scale-specific level to generate a high-quality attention map. Then, an attentive proposal refinement module is developed by the attention map to rectify the location deviation of candidate boxes. Besides, a re-scoring mechanism is designed to select text boxes with the best rectified location. To promote the research towards industrial scene text detection, we contribute two industrial scene text datasets, including a total of 102156 images and 1948809 text instances with various character structures and metal parts. Extensive experiments on our dataset and four public datasets demonstrate that our proposed method achieves the state-of-the-art performance. The current of the distribution networks under 66kV is widely operating in small current grounding mode. The problem of extracting the fault feature in each line would be quite difficult due to the short duration of the transient zero sequence current with the non-stationary and non-linear characteristics when the single-phase-to-ground fault occurs in the system. Therefore, a novel method of single-phase-to-ground fault line selection for small current based on Fast S-transform (FST) is developed in this paper. Firstly, FST is presented to transform the transient electric current signal in each feeder, after that the one-dimension modulus and phase angle value can been obtained. Then, the feeder with the largest energy value calculated by the modulus obtained above is selected as the alternative possible fault line. Finally, line failure or bus failure can been determined by evaluating the difference of the phase angle between the fault line and the comparison line that has been selected from the non-alternative feeders before. The results of the simulative and experimental circuits reveal that the proposed method using FST can avoid the influence of neural point grounding type. Additionally, the method of line selection is quite accurate and real-time. © 2018 IEEE.
