Reinforcement learning (RL) aims to formulate the recommendation task as a Markov decision process (MDP) and trains an agent to automatically learn the optimal recommendation policy from interaction trajectories through trial-and-error and reward mechanisms. However, most existing RL-based approaches overlook the correlation between items and the dynamics of user interests implied in temporally close interactions. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a reinforcement learning method that incorporates a "recent-k items"distribution to capture users' local preferences. Specifically, we model the output layer as two distinct branches. The "recent-k items"branch, formulated with a Kullback-Leibler divergence loss, learns the recent interests of users, whereas the other branch utilizes a one-step temporal difference error to capture long-term preferences. The proposed structure is integrated into deep Q-learning and actor-critics, resulting in two enhanced methods named R k Q and R k AC, respectively. Furthermore, a novel soft inter-reward is carefully designed to enhance the proposed method, and we theoretically prove the convergence of the proposed algorithm. We perform extensive experiments on two large real-world datasets and conduct further analysis of the influences of different action sequences, time intervals, and enhancement capabilities for state-of-the-art models. Deep learning techniques have become increasingly prevalent in hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. However, convolutional neural network (CNN)-based approaches often struggle with inefficient utilization of spectral sequence data and inadequate processing of fine-grained spectral details. In contrast, transformer models are inherently designed to capture sequence dependencies across spectral bands. Yet, most existing approaches tend to focus on either local or global feature extraction separately, which limits their ability to fully exploit the spectral information. To overcome these limitations, we propose the Local and Global Fusion Spectral Transformer (LGFST), an innovative architecture that combines Swin Transformer blocks, standard Transformer blocks, and a novel Local-Global Fusion (LGF) module. This architecture is designed to simultaneously capture both local and global features, thereby improving the extraction of detailed spectral information. The Swin Transformer block, integrated with patch merging and hierarchical attention mechanisms, expands the receptive field and enhances local feature representation through both intra- and cross-window interactions. Meanwhile, the Transformer block performs self-attention across all tokens to extract global features. The fusion of local and global features from these two blocks effectively improves the texture and discriminative power of spectral data, leading to enhanced classification performance, especially in scenarios with dense class distributions. Finally, the LGF module facilitates interaction between local and global feature sets, ensuring a seamless integration of information from both blocks. Extensive experiments on three benchmark HSI datasets demonstrate that LGFST outperforms conventional transformer models and sets new benchmarks in performance compared to state-of-the-art methods.

This paper presents a novel controller design for dealing with the challenges posed by Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks in the context of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIOT). The proposed design employs a prediction approach that utilizes uniform quantization for both encoder and decoder, aiming to effectively mitigate data loss during data transmission in scenarios involving DoS attacks. Furthermore, the study investigates the application of dynamic system design as a means to enhance the security defense mechanisms of AIOT, consequently bolstering the overall resilience of the system. The effectiveness and practicality of the proposed approach are validated through comprehensive simulations, providing empirical evidence of its efficacy. © 2023 IEEE.

The pursuit of quality improvements and accountability in the food supply chains, especially how they relate to food-related outcomes, such as hunger, has become increasingly vital, necessitating a comprehensive approach that encompasses product quality and its impact on various stakeholders and their communities. Such an approach offers numerous benefits in increasing product quality and eliminating superfluous measurements while appraising and alleviating the broader societal and environmental repercussions. A traceable impact management model (TIMM) provides an impact structure and a reporting mechanism that identifies each stakeholder’s role in the total impact of food production and consumption stages. The model aims to increase traceability’s utility in understanding the impact of changes on communities affected by food production and consumption, aligning with current and future government requirements, and addressing the needs of communities and consumers. This holistic approach is further supported by an ontological model that forms the logical foundation and a unified terminology. By proposing a holistic and integrated solution across multiple stakeholders, the model emphasizes quality and the extensive impact of championing accountability, sustainability, and responsible practices with global traceability. With these combined efforts, the food supply chain moves toward a global tracking and tracing process that not only ensures product quality but also addresses its impact on a broader scale, fostering accountability, sustainability, and responsible food production and consumption. © 2025, CC BY.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly permeating all aspects of human life, involving a network of devices that share sensitive data. A notable application is the e-healthcare systems, which employ connected sensors, medical servers, and wearable devices. However, the public nature of communication in e-healthcare systems poses challenges such as security, privacy, and authentication of participating entities. Recently, many authentication protocols have been introduced to address these challenges. However, most of these protocols remain vulnerable to various security attacks, including device or medical server impersonation, denial of service, physical or cloning, and de-synchronization attacks. Therefore, we introduce an authenticated key-management protocol utilizing hash functions and Cipher-Block Chaining-Advanced Encryption Standard encryption (CBC-AES) encryption. The proposed protocol also employs the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF), which makes it more robust and efficient in resisting physical or cloning attacks. Additionally, the proposed scheme resists various security threats, including impersonation, session key leakage, ephemeral secret leakage, and de-synchronization attacks. We analyze the scheme’s security and reliability through formal and informal analysis. The informal analysis demonstrates that the scheme encompasses crucial security features, while the formal analysis substantiates. Moreover, performance analysis of the proposed protocol with various competing results indicates that our protocol achieves an average reduction in communication and computation overheads by 36.03.% and 41.79%, respectively. © 2014 IEEE.

Hyperspectral super-resolution involves combining low-resolution hyperspectral images with high-resolution multispectral images to produce a high-resolution hyperspectral image. Recently, although many methods for hyperspectral image super-resolution have been proposed, they often fail to fully utilize the high similarity among adjacent bands to enhance fusion performance. Therefore, we propose a grouping strategy-based progressive fusion network (GPFNet) for hyperspectral super-resolution. The core of GPFNet is the grouping strategy fusion block (GPF block), in which grouping-based spatial-spectral information fusion and spatial information refinement are performed. We design the spatial-spectral information fusion module (SSIFM) based on grouped convolutions to capture the feature differences from adjacent bands. To refine spatial details, we develop the spatial information enhancement module (SpaEM), which leverages the hierarchical features extracted by the multi-scale feature extraction module (MIEM). Additionally, a progressive fusion strategy, which involves using multiple upsampled hyperspectral images and downsampled multispectral images, further preserves spectral integrity and spatial details. Extensive experiments show that GPFNet outperforms state-of-the-art methods both qualitatively and quantitatively.

In order to solve the impact of the temporal and spatial characteristics of traffic on network routing optimization, this paper proposes convolution long-short memory neural network deep reinforcement learning (CLSDRL) model for routing optimization. The CLSDRL model consists of deep deterministic policy gradients (DDPG) deep couple with convolution neural network (CNN) and long-short memory neural network (LSTM). After extracting the spatial and temporal characteristics of network traffic with CNN and LSTM, routing decisions are made with DDPG algorithm. Experiments are conducted under different load intensities, and the network performance is evaluated by the average network delay and packet loss rate, experimental results show that this method can improve significantly network performance. © 2021 IEEE.

Nowadays, text detection has infiltrated various industries like banking, education, criminal investigation, network public opinion, and more. However, the traditional way of text detection is largely dependent on the characteristics of manual design, which is time-consuming, laborious and inaccuracy. With the emergence of deep learning technology, text detection has already been transformed from text detection in static documents to more practical text detection in natural scenes. To address such challenges as complex background, improper acquisition, and multilingual text in natural scene images, there have been various improved neural network structures constructed. Especially, the performance of text detection in various scenes has been significantly improved. In learning in different scenes are summarized in detail. According to the different text objects in detection, the existing methods are classified into two categories as top-down and bottom-up, and the logic structure, advantages and disadvantages of various algorithms are summarized. In addition, the commonly used data sets and performance evaluation indexes are analyzed and explained, the practical application of text detection in different fields is introduced, and the future trend of research and development are indicated. © 2022 IEEE.

Heterogeneous datasets induce local gradient variance and global gradient variance in distributed learning, collectively referred to as gradient heterogeneity. Gradient heterogeneity increases the system's vulnerability to Byzantine attacks, affecting performance. To address this issue, the paper proposes a Gradient Heterogeneity Twofold Optimization (GHTO) algorithm to enhance the Byzantine robustness of the system in non-independent and identically distributed environments. Specifically, a Local Gradient Correction (LGC) algorithm is proposed, which aims to reduce the local gradient variance. By further integrating LGC with momentum and bucketing techniques to achieve dual optimization of local and global gradient variance. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed LGC algorithm diminishes local gradient variance, and the GHTO method optimizes both local and global gradient variance, which further strengthens the robustness of the system against Byzantine attacks.

Visual question answering requires a system to provide an accurate natural language answer given an image and a natural language question. However, it is widely recognized that previous generic VQA methods often tend to memorize biases present in the training data rather than learning proper behaviors, such as grounding images before predicting answers. Therefore, these methods usually achieve high in-distribution but poor out-of-distribution performance. In recent years, various datasets and debiasing methods have been proposed to evaluate and enhance the VQA robustness, respectively. This paper provides the first comprehensive survey focused on this emerging fashion. Specifically, we first provide an overview of the development process of datasets from in-distribution and out-of-distribution perspectives. Then, we examine the evaluation metrics employed by these datasets. Thirdly, we propose a typology that presents the development process, similarities and differences, robustness comparison, and technical features of existing debiasing methods. Furthermore, we analyze and discuss the robustness of representative vision-and-language pre-training models on VQA. Finally, through a thorough review of the available literature and experimental analysis, we discuss the key areas for future research from various viewpoints. Copyright © 2023, The Authors.
