This paper explores distributed neighbor selection in matrix-weighted networks, where a matrix-valued weight captures the interdependencies among agents’ states. We demonstrate the feasibility of preserving and, in certain cases, improving the convergence rate of matrix-weighted networks by having agents exclusively engage with a subset of their neighbors. Leveraging the inherent monotonicity of Laplacian matrix eigenvectors, we introduce a novel neighbor selection criterion that reduces network connections while enhancing convergence rates. Existing neighbor selection strategies often require acquiring information from all nodes before making decisions. In order to propose a distributed neighbor selection strategy for matrix-weighted networks, we establish a numerical relationship between Laplacian eigenvectors and a locally measurable metric. In essence, this paper extends prior findings from scalar-weighted networks to matrix-weighted networks.

sEMG (surface electromyography) signal control of bionic prostheses has been widely studied over the past few years. In particular, sparse sEMG signals are rapidly developing in the field of gesture recognition for their convenience, noninvasiveness, and ease of access. However, compared with high-density EMG signals, sparse EMG signals lack rich feature information, which in turn affects gesture recognition accuracy. In order to reduce the loss of feature information of sparse EMG signals in the spatio-temporal dimension, this paper proposes a hybrid neural network Res-LSTM combining residual network and long short-term memory network. The ordinary convolutional blocks in the CNN network are replaced with residual blocks, and the final fully connected layer is removed and a constant mapping layer is added to adequate extraction of spatial feature information of the data. The Res layer’s output is utilized as the input for the long and short-term memory (LSTM) network, which further extracts the features of the data in the temporal dimension, and finally completes the categorization output through a fully connected layer. The average accuracy of 91.11% for gesture-motion classification was verified by training on a homebrew dataset;and tested on a public dataset, NinaPro DB1, with an average accuracy of 91.03%. The experimental findings indicate that the proposed Res-LSTM network framework contributes to solving the problem of lack of feature information of sparse sEMG signals and improves the pattern recognition accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

TCP ensures reliable transmission through its stateful implementation and remains crucial today. TCP performance profiling is essential for tasks like diagnosing network performance problems, optimizing transmission performance, and developing new TCP variants, etc. Existing profiling methods lack enough attention to TCP state transition to provide detailed insights on TCP performance. Thus, we build TcpSight, a tool focusing on TCP state transition throughout connection lifetimes. TcpSight conducts stateful analysis by capturing key events using an efficient per-connection lock-free data management mechanism. Besides, TcpSight enhances profiling by integrating application layer information collected from the TCP stack. With the profiling results, users can identify the culprit of TCP performance degradation, and evaluate the performance of TCP algorithms. We design optional modules and filtering mechanisms to reduce TcpSights overhead. Our evaluation presents that TcpSight incurs an additional CPU consumption of about 16.6% (without filtering) and 10.6% (with filtering) when the server's load is 55.7%, and generates storage consumption about 1.88 KB per connection on average. We also give application cases of TcpSight and the deployment experiences in Alibaba Cloud. TcpSight helps in revealing meaningful findings and insights into exploiting TCP in the production deployment. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

This paper examines the cluster consensus design problem on higher-order interaction networks. Specifically, the higher-order interaction mechanism is captured by matrix-weighted networks that allow the interdependency across the dimensions of the agents' states, and the matrix-valued weight matrices $A_{ij}\in \mathbb{R}^{d\times d}$ associated with specific edges are further assumed to share the same nullspace for design purposes. Under mild assumptions on network connectivity, we first examine the case that the nullspace of positive semi-definite edges is spanned by a nonzero vector $\boldsymbol{\xi}\in \mathbb{R}^{d}$ and show that the predictable cluster consensus can be achieved, which is eventually located in the 1-dimensional linear space determined by span $\{\boldsymbol{\xi}\}$ and the average of agents' initial states. Moreover, the transient state of agents in each cluster can also be explicitly characterized. Namely, the derivative of the average state of agents in each cluster is perpendicular to span $\{\boldsymbol{\xi}\}$ . To generalize the above results, we proceed to examine the case that the nullspace of positive semi-definite edges is spanned by more than one linearly independent $d$ -dimensional vector, in which case, analogous results can be obtained, and the explicit geometric interpretation is also provided.

In this paper,the entrapping control problem of discrete-time AUVs with local coordinate frames is *** achieve entrapment in arbitrarily shaped orbits and formations,we design a bearingbased leader-following framework fully in the discrete-time domain with four parts:the orientation estimation unit,estimator unit,controller unit and parameters tuning *** bearing measurements and communication information,the orientation estimation unit can estimate orientations of local coordinate frames infinite time,and the estimator unit can achieve local *** on estimation,the controller unit can drive each AUV to track the desired orbit or formation with an arbitrary *** present su±cient conditions under which stability of the overall system is proved using the theorem offinite-time stability and LaSalle's theorem for the discrete-time ***,the parameters tuning unit can calculate optimal parameters to improve overall ***,we extend our schemes to nonholonomic AUVs with unicycle ***,simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Identifying influential nodes is a recognized challenge for the tremendous number of nodes in complex networks. Most of proposed methods detect the influential nodes based on their degree or topological location, which only consider the local or global information of the network causing inaccuracy. In this paper, we propose a k-orders entropy-based method to identify influential nodes. The influence of node is determined by its entropy with local and global information. The entropy reflecting local information is measured by the different order neighbors' information of nodes while the entropy reflecting global information by the betweenness centrality. The experiments conducted on real-world networks demonstrate the proposed method is more accurate than other methods. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper explores the size-invariance of evaluation metrics in Salient Object Detection (SOD), especially when multiple targets of diverse sizes co-exist in the same image. We observe that current metrics are size-sensitive, where larger objects are focused, and smaller ones tend to be ignored. We argue that the evaluation should be size-invariant because bias based on size is unjustified without additional semantic information. In pursuit of this, we propose a generic approach that evaluates each salient object separately and then combines the results, effectively alleviating the imbalance. We further develop an optimization framework tailored to this goal, achieving considerable improvements in detecting objects of different sizes. Theoretically, we provide evidence supporting the validity of our new metrics and present the generalization analysis of SOD. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. The security of mobile robotic networks (MRNs) has been an active research topic in recent years. This paper aims to secure the ubiquitous formation control of MRNs against the replacement attack, where an external robot can replace a formation robot by compromising the communication and physically interfering with the victim simultaneously. To counter this advanced attack, the novel idea of this work is to leverage the physical proximity of the formation shape and the interaction topology among robots for defense design. First, from the physical proximity perspective, we propose the convex neighbor polygon (CNP) to capture the geometric characteristic of the formation robots, and design a CNP-based security mechanism for the robots during the replacement attack. Then, from the interaction perspective, we introduce the indirect controllability to characterize the possibility that the attacker leverages the interaction between robots to deactivate the CNP mechanism, and establish the conditions regarding the topology structure and the attack input to counter the replacement. Finally, based on the obtained conditions, we demonstrate how to design the initiatory topology among the formation robots to enhance the defense performance. Comparative simulations verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In order to mitigate the adverse impact of denial of service (DoS) attacks, this work designs a parameter self-tuning controller based on fuzzy rules for vehicle platoons with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. Aiming at achieving the cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) of the vehicles with a required inter-vehicle distance and the same velocity, while considering the possible DoS attacks, we propose a parameter self-tuning longitudinal controller combining linear control and fuzzy control to enhance the stability and resilience of the platoon systems. Firstly, by analyzing the dynamic characteristics of vehicles and the mechanism of DoS attacks, we establish the dynamic model of vehicle platoons and model the impact of random DoS attacks as a constant data transmission delay, whose probability distribution can be defined using the Bernoulli random variable. Then, a linear controller based on fuzzy control is designed for longitudinal control to guarantee that the platoon keeps a reference velocity and the specified inter-vehicle distance under DoS attacks. Finally, thorough simulations are performed and the detailed results show the performance of the secure longitudinal control scheme for vehicle platoons in terms of stability and security.

Virtual Reality is an important development direction in recent years. Minecraft, a popular sandbox game, has a great potential to become a virtual reality platform for building immersive environments. Traditional methods of building virtual reality scenes rely heavily on massive human labors and require high levels of proficiency. To address these limitations, we propose an automatic, voxelated 3D modeling method with foreground and background environment segmented that can reduce modeling costs and achieve effective application in Minecraft virtual reality scenes such as virtual campuses. The proposed method leverages the use of point cloud reconstruction using a voxelization approach. A pipeline of converting point cloud to Minecraft scene is developed. Through preprocessing, segmenting, coloring, and exporting, a Minecraft virtual reality scene can be automatically generated based on voxel point cloud. Due to the noise in point cloud may cause defect during voxelization, a denoising and smoothing method using slice scanning and voxel connectivity segmentation has been implemented. It can generate building structures with clear outlines and uniform colors. And the entire process requires low computational complexity and achieves fast generation. We conducted experiments based on this method in indoor scenes, outdoor building landmarks, and complex underground scenes, and obtained results with clear structures and smooth surfaces, saving a lot of time for subsequent detailed modeling. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
