Trajectory tracking and speed control for intelligent vehicles are put forward higher requirements on accuracy by the high traffic density scenario. A standard Model Predictive control (MPC) algorithm focuses on the trajectory tracking but ignores the speed control. This paper proposes a simultaneous trajectory tracking and speed control algorithm based on MPC approach to address fine control in both space and time dimensions for intelligent vehicles. A threefold cost function including lateral and longitudinal speed as well as comfort has been proposed to improve the control algorithm. The simulations and comparisons demonstrate that the proposed method has a better tracking and speed control performance than the existing method.

This paper revisits the stabilization problem of switched linear systems with time-varying delay via state dependent switching strategies. In contrast to the existing works, the commonly adopted stable convex combination assumption is relaxed in this paper. For switched systems satisfying the relaxed assumption, we design a state dependent switching strategy, under which the considered system is asymptotically stable at the origin in the presence of time-varying delay. An optimization problem is formulated to estimate the upper bound of tolerable time delay. Numerical examples are presented to show that our method is applicable to a larger class of switched systems and leads to greater delay bound.

Spatial non-locality induced non-markovian EIT in a single giant atom

In recent experiments, electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) were observed with giant atoms, but nothing unconventional were found from the transmission spectra. In this letter, we show that unconventional EIT does exist in giant atoms, and indicate why it has not been observed so far. Different from these existing works, this letter presents a consistent theory including a real space method and a time delayed master equation for observing unconventional EIT. We discover that this phenomenon is a quantum effect which cannot be correctly described in a semi-classical way as those in recent works. Our theory shows that it can be observed when the time delay between two neighboring coupling points is comparable to the relaxation time of the atom, which is crucial for a future experimental observation. This new phenomenon results from inherent non-locality of the giant atom, which physically forces propagating fields to be standing waves in space and the atom exhibiting retardations in time. Our theory establishes a framework for application of nonlocal systems to quantum information processing. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Water is the source of life and the correct assessment of water resources is an important prerequisite for the rational utilisation of water resources. In this paper, water resources are evaluated and predicted by three different algorithms, including Bat Algorithm (BA), Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) and Pigeon-Inspired Optimisation (PIO). Comparing the errors of water resources assessed for the three algorithms, we select an algorithm of the minimum error to predict the future water demand. In the experiments, firstly, the water data from 2003 to 2012 are used to find the optimal weights of the models. Then, the weight factor is combined with the given model to gain the error between predicted value and the remaining data (2013–2015). Finally, the simulation results show that PIO algorithm has a better performance compared with the BA and PSO algorithms. Copyright © 2019 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Recent object detection models have achieved satisfactory performance by deep learning with large-scale annotated datasets. However, these models often perform poorly when the training examples are not sufficient enough, especially for one-shot object detection where there is only one training example of each target class. In this paper, we propose a network parameter generation framework for effective one-shot object detection. By leveraging the semantic relationship between the source-domain and the target-domain (new classes), our framework can generate network parameters for the new classes directly. Furthermore, we develop two implementation schemes for this framework: weighting-based parameter generation and regression-based parameter generation. These two schemes use different information to construct the relationship and transfer knowledge from the source-domain to the target-domain. Experiments on the PASCAL-OSCD benchmark show that our methods can significantly boost the performance of one-shot object detection. © 2019 IEEE.

This work investigates the coordinated motion control and obstacle-crossing problem for a four wheel-leg independent motor-driven robotic system via a model predictive control (MPC) approach based on an event-triggering mechanism. The modeling of a wheel-leg robotic control system with a dynamic supporting polygon is organized. The system dynamic model is 3 degrees of freedom ignoring the pitch, roll, and vertical motions. The single wheel dynamic is analyzed considering the characteristics of the motor-driven and the Burckhardt nonlinear tire model. As a result, an over-actuated predictive model is proposed with the motor torques as inputs and the system states as outputs. As the supporting polygon is only adjusted at certain conditions, an event-based triggering mechanism is designed to save hardware resources and energy. The MPC controller is evaluated on a virtual prototype as well as a physical prototype. The simulation results guide the parameter tuning for the controller implementation in the physical prototype. Distributed Observer Design for Achieving Asymptotical Omniscience over Time-variant Disconnected Networks ⁎

This paper investigates the distributed observer design for linear system under time-variant disconnected communication network. By constructing basic eigenvectors of 0-eigensubspace of disconnected Laplacian Matrix and using LMIs method, we prove the distributed observer cannot achieve omniscience asymptotically under switching topology without constraining the system matrix or alternative topologies set. To deal with this problem, this paper investigates three kinds of constraints and the system matrix only needs to satisfy any one of them. Then a group of sufficient conditions corresponding to the asymptotic omniscience of distributed observer under switching topology are proved by Lyapunov analysis. Finally, a numerical simulation shows the validity of our method.

Chaos is shown to occur in the flexible shaft rotating-lifting (FSRL) system of the mono-silicon crystal puller. Chaos is, however, harmful for the quality of mono-silicon crystal production. Therefore, it should be suppressed. Many chaos control methods have been proposed theoretically and some have even been used in applications. For a practical plant displaying harmful chaos, engineers from a specified area usually face with the challenge to identifying chaos and to suppressing it by using a proper method. However, despite of the existing methods, chaos control method selection in the FSRL system is not a trivial task. For example, for the OGY method, if one cannot find a practical adjustable parameter, then the OGY method cannot be applied. An impulsive control method is being proposed which is efficiently able to suppress chaos in the FSRL system. The selection of the control parameters is obtained by using the Melnikov method. Simulation results show the correctness of our theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed chaos control method. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, a novel approach combining Q-learning method and two-stage optimization is proposed to solve linear quadratic tracking(LQT) problem for unknown discrete-time switched system. An augmented system consisting of switched subsystem and reference trajectory is built and Q-learning method is introduced to identify each subsystem without requiring any knowledge of augmented system state dynamics. Then, based on the optimal control laws for each subsystem obtained by Q-learning in advance, the optimal hybrid control law including switching mode and control input is obtained by the two-stage optimization framework. Furthermore, the optimality of the algorithm is proved. Finally, a simulation case is used to testify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
