The proliferation of cloud computing allows scientists to deploy computation and data intensive applications without infrastructure investment, where large generated datasets can be flexibly stored with multiple cloud service providers. Due to the pay-as-you-go model, the total application cost largely depends on the usage of computation, storage and bandwidth resources, and cutting the cost of cloud-based data storage becomes a big concern for deploying scientific applications in the cloud. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm that can automatically decide whether a generated dataset should be 1) stored in the current cloud, 2) deleted and re-generated whenever reused or 3) transferred to cheaper cloud service for storage. The algorithm finds the trade-off among computation, storage and bandwidth costs in the cloud, which are three key factors for the cost of storing generated application datasets with multiple cloud service providers. Simulations conducted with popular cloud service providers' pricing models show that the proposed algorithm is highly cost-effective to be utilised in the cloud.

A robust approach for extracting template from images with relatively poor quality is presented in this paper. The approach combines fast Fourier transformation algorithm and weighted normalized cross correlation algorithm to deal with images taken under weak template. Basically, it consists of three steps: 1) searching candidate template from the target image using prefabricated template, and 2) determining the count of template matching area and adjusting the candidate template by using neighborhood growth method, and 3) evaluating the optimal template among the candidate templates. A set of experiments has been performed and the results shows that the proposed approach can obtain templates accurately and robustly. © 2012 IEEE.

For large amount of computation in elliptic curve cryptography, we combined with Message Linkage Recovery Based on Elliptic Curve and proposed a new signcryption scheme with message link recovery by signcryption equation as the breakthrough point. The signcryption equation of the new scheme was s=k-r-kA mod n and the corresponding verification was X=(s+r)G+PA, which correctness has been verified. The results of analyzed the efficiency of operation and the security of the improved scheme show that, it meets the safety requirements of digital signature scheme, at the same time, it reduces an operation of number multiplication in the process of signature and lowers the number of points multiplication. After, the new scheme was applied to the electronic evidence protection, which has the function of message recovery. © 2012 IEEE.

Association rules mining algorithm based on Rough Set theory is put forward using the idea of Rough Set theory, which applies the improved Apriori algorithm in association rules mining on the basis of Decision Table. The advantage of this method lies in three aspects, including the elimination of redundancy attributes, reducing the number of attributes, while scanning Decision Table just once can produce decision attribute sets. Application example analysis shows that this is an effective and fast data mining method. © 2012 IEEE.

In order to support generating crowd animation roles automatically based on a 3D animation prototype, an evolutionary modeling approach was proposed. The approach could generate a great deal of 3D animation modelings which were alike in appearance but different in characteristics by deforming the 3D animation prototype. An interactive and adaptive genetic algorithm AIAGA was introduced in this approach. In AIAGA, ACIS rule expressions were expressed by three binary trees, which were used to scale 3D entities unevenly in the x-axis, y-axis and z-axis direction separately. New rule expressions, which were used to generate new modelings by evolving, were generated by selection, adaptive crossover and mutation on binary trees. Experiments in the prototype system developed in this paper show that the proposed approach can effectively support generating a series of 3D animation modelings for crowd animation. © 2012 IEEE.

Authentication is the most basic prerequisite for secure communications. Authentication theory and technology play a key role in the application of modern cryptography. Cross-domain authentication among entities of different management domains is an important subject. An in-depth study on this subject and related supporting theory has been made so far. This paper-outlines the status quo and trends of cross-domain authentication, including the study on the cross-domain authentication mechanism and the framework, the security models, the application protocols, key agreement protocols based on groups, key agreement protocols based on password, provable secure cross-domain signcryption and KEM/DEM key encapsulation. Furthermore, it points out problems which should be widely concerned in the future, and gives the view points for the trends of the research field. © 2012 IEEE.

The knowledge structure of the enterprise in cluster causes the difference among cognitive perspectives. In order to overcome the deficiency that the existing researches couldn't describe well the knowledge structure of enterprises, this paper proposed the knowledge transmission model among enterprise clusters based on cognitive perspective. The model proposed the definition of enterprise chromosome based on cognitive perspective, gave the learning strategies and knowledge interactive mechanism by referring to ant colony path selection. Simulations results indicate that the knowledge transmission within a cluster has the principle of cognitive proximity and the knowledge transfer probability is higher when the knowledge structure of two enterprises are similar. © 2012 IEEE.

Task assignment problem is one of the important research topics in a multi-agent system. It is desired to assign each task to a suited agent with a minimum total cost. For the advantages of memory, multi-character, local search and the solution improvement mechanism in artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm, a task assignment approach based on ABC in a multi-agent cooperative design system is proposed in this paper. Experimental results demonstrate that the optimal solutions obtained by the ABC algorithm are better than genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization on solving some task assignment problems. © 2012 IEEE.
