In real clinical scenarios, diagnosis algorithms may face the complex concurrent presence of multiple common, rare, or even unknown disease conditions. In particular, rare disease categories may be underrepresented or even absent from the class-imbalanced training set, leaving safe and trustworthy diagnostic decision-making extremely challenging. In this work, we first formalize the medical image diagnosis as a multi-label open set recognition under class-imbalanced training data and propose a novel Multi-label Open set Diagnosis (MOSD) solution to address this problem. Our MOSD first employs a Balanced Multi-label Data Augmentation (BMDA) module to augment multi-label image data to alleviate the class imbalance in model training more effectively. Then it also boasts a Multi-label Evidential Deep Learning (MEDL) module with tailored learning objectives to better estimate the uncertainty for multi-label open set prediction. Experimental results on the ODIR-5K benchmark successfully demonstrate its superiority in both close set known class classification and open set unknown class detection. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper focuses on the two problems of the similar objects distraction and the lack of robustness for unseen object categories in semi-supervised video object segmentation task. Existing methods have achieved great results on the benchmark dataset, but these two problems still have not been completely solved. We propose the Robust Video Object Segmentation With Restricted Attention (RVOSR), which can suppress the effects caused by similar objects and filter out noise confusion from other irrelevant regions. Meanwhile augmenting the semantic information of features, which makes the features more suitable for video object segmentation task. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach and achieve the state-of-the-art performance on the widely-used VOS benchmarks including DAVIS-2016 (92.1% J& F), DAVIS-2017 (86.8% J& F) and YouTubeVOS-2019 (84.8%). © 2023 IEEE.

Few-shot Font Generation (FFG) is a practical technology widely used in designing artistic characters, handwriting imitation, and identification, etc., which aims to generate realistic font images with a few reference samples. Typically, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are employed to learn the representations of style and content from the font images. However, owing to the locality of convolutional operations, CNNs are not good at capturing the global structure of fonts, which leads to the generated images with blurry components and distorted space layouts. To address this problem, we consider cascading self-attention modules to exploit long-range dependencies for font generation and propose a transformer-based approach called FGTr. Following the style-content disentanglement paradigm, FGTr contains two different transformer encoders to extract the style and content sequences. A multi-layer transformer decoder is adopted to merge the two sequences and generate target images. In order to smoothen the transition of patch edges, we utilize a Local Self-Attention Mask (LSAM) to restrict the attention scope of each patch to a fixed-size sliding window, which plugs into the Transformer with no extra parameters. We also propose an Auxiliary Generation Module (AGM) in favor of generating glyphs closer to the real. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our method compared with state-of-the-art CNN-based models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) plays a pivotal role in autonomous driving and robotics. Existing methods often rely on hand-craft feature extraction and cross-modal fusion techniques, resulting in limited feature representation capability and reduced robustness. To address this challenge, we introduce DeepPointMap2, a novel learning-based LiDAR-Visual SLAM architecture that leverages neural descriptors to tackle multiple SLAM sub-tasks in a unified manner. Our approach employs neural networks to extract multi-modal tokens, which are then adaptively fused by the Visual-Point Fusion Module to generate sparse 3D neural descriptors, ensuring precise and robust performance. As a pioneering work, our method achieves state-of-the-art localization performance among various Visual-, LiDAR-, and Visual-LiDAR-based methods in widely-used benchmarks, as shown in the experiment results. Furthermore, the approach proves to be robust in scenarios involving camera failure and LiDAR obstruction. © 2024 ACM.

Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) is a challenging task. Although no visual samples of unseen classes are provided during training, the classifier must learn to recognize all classes (i.e. both seen and unseen classes). Due to the ability to generate unseen classes samples, generative models have been widely used in GZSL. However, these generative models only learn from the seen classes, so the discriminability of the unseen class features they generate is usually poor, resulting in low unseen class classification accuracy. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel semantic-related feature generative (SRFG) model to improve visual-semantic consistency and alleviate seen-unseen bias effectively. SRFG can generate any number of semantic-related discriminative features for both seen and unseen classes. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets show that the proposed model significantly outperforms the state of the arts. © 2022 IEEE.

Since stroke is the main cause of various cerebrovascular diseases, deep learning-based stroke lesion segmentation on magnetic resonance (MR) images has attracted considerable attention. However, the existing methods often neglect the domain shift among MR images collected from different sites, which has limited performance improvement. To address this problem, we intend to change style information without affecting high-level semantics via adaptively changing the low-frequency amplitude components of the Fourier transform so as to enhance model robustness to varying domains. Thus, we propose a novel FAN-Net, a U-Net-based segmentation network incorporated with a Fourier-based adaptive normalization (FAN) and a domain classifier with a gradient reversal layer. The FAN module is tailored for learning adaptive affine parameters for the amplitude components of different domains, which can dynamically normalize the style information of source images. Then, the domain classifier provides domain-agnostic knowledge to endow FAN with strong domain generalizability. The experimental results on the ATLAS dataset, which consists of MR images from 9 sites, show the superior performance of the proposed FAN-Net compared with baseline methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Determining the physical locations of CDN Points of Presence (PoPs) is fundamental to understanding and diagnosing CDN services. Yet, the popular deployment of IP Anycast in CDNs has rendered existing geolocation tools unreliable. To fill this gap, we present an HTTP-based solution that leverages subtle geographic hints in HTTP responses to locate CDN PoPs at the city-level granularity. The evaluation shows that our technique achieves over 90% accuracy with an average error distance of less than 40 km. © 2022 Owner/Author.
