In ultrasound imaging Wiener postfilter and coherent factor (CF) concepts were combined with minimum variance (MV) and eigenspace-based MV (ESBMV) beamformers to future suppress sidelobes and to improve the imaging contrast and the spatial resolution. CF, which can be considered as a scaled Wiener postfilter with high noise power weighting, provides high imaging resolution. The high resolution, however, is achieved with the contrast as a sacrifice. On other hand, Wiener postfilter, provides better signal intensity restoration and imaging contrast than CF but with lower imaging resolution. To pursue the optimal imaging contrast of Wiener postfilter and the high resolution of CF at the same time, an adaptive scaled Wiener postfilter beamformer (ASC-Wiener) is proposed. In proposed method, the noise power weighting of Wiener postfilter is adjusted adaptively so that related to the output SNR inversely needless to estimate the input SNR. Simulation and real data experiment for target point imaging show the high performance of the proposed beamformer in terms of the imaging resolution and sidelobes suppression. Cyst phantom imaging also shows that the ASC-Wiener preserves the speckle intensity and improves the imaging contrast. The contrast ratio (CR) and the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) are improved by 6.2/0.35 dB over ESBMV-Wiener and by 20.7/0.65 over ESBMV-CF. These results solidly prove that the imaging contrast and the imaging resolution are improved significantly and simultaneously.

Study of ultrasound contrast imaging is of great importance in recent years thanks to its wide application in ultrasonic diagnosis. Plane wave imaging has been considered as a good method with high frame rate and low mechanical index. High frame rate can improve the temporal resolution of contrast imaging. Meanwhile, low mechanical index is essential to contrast imaging since high mechanical index in traditional B-mode imaging could break micro-bubbles easily. However, plane wave contrast imaging suffers from low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast (CR) which leads to poor image quality. In this paper, adaptive beamformer and pulse inversion (PI) technique were combined to solve the shortcomings of the plane wave contrast imaging. For the adaptive beamformer, eigenspace based minimum variance (ESBMV) with coherence factor (ESBMVCF) was proposed. Experimental results show that ESBMVCF offers an enhancement of 1.1dB, 13dB and 0.8dB in CR, contrast-to-tissue ratio (CTR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) respectively compared with minimum variance and coherence factor (MVCF). Besides, PI offers 1.5dB, 15dB and 15dB enhancement in CR, CTR and CNR compared with traditional pulse-echo imaging.

Text-to-image generation has important implications for generation of diverse and controllable images. Several attempts have been made to adapt Stable Diffusion (SD) to the medical domain. However, the large distribution difference between medical reports and natural texts, as well as high computational complexity in common stable diffusion limit the authenticity and feasibility of the generated medical images. To solve above problems, we propose a novel light-weight transformer-based diffusion model learning framework, Chest-Diffusion, for report-to-CXR generation. Chest-Diffusion employs a domain-specific text encoder to obtain accurate and expressive text features to guide image generation, improving the authenticity of the generated images. Meanwhile, we introduce a light-weight transformer architecture as the denoising model, reducing the computational complexity of the diffusion model. Experiments demonstrate that our Chest-Diffusion achieves the lowest FID score 24.456, under the computation budget of 118.918 GFLOPs, which is nearly one-third of the computational complexity of SD.

Backscatter and attenuation parameters are not easily measured in clinical applications due to tissue inhomogeneity in the region of interest (ROI). A least squares method(LSM) that fits the echo signal power spectra from a ROI to a 3- parameter tissue model was used to get attenuation coefficient imaging in fatty liver. Since fat's attenuation value is higher than normal liver parenchyma, a reasonable threshold was chosen to evaluate the fatty proportion in fatty liver. Experimental results using clinical data of fatty liver illustrate that the least squares method can get accurate attenuation estimates. It is proved that the attenuation values have a positive correlation with the fatty proportion, which can be used to evaluate the syndrome of fatty liver. © 2014 - IOS Press and the authors.

Nowadays, surface electromyography (sEMG) signal plays an important role in helping physically disabled people during daily life. The development of electronic information technology has also led to the emergence of low-cost, multi-channel, wearable sEMG signal acquisition devices. Therefore, this paper proposes a new motion recognition model based on deep learning to improve the accuracy of motion recognition of sEMG signals. The model uses architecture including 6 convolutional layers and 6 pooling layers which enables the Batch Normalization layer to enhance network performance and prevent overfitting. In the experiment, NinaPro DB5 data set was used for training and testing. The data set consists of sEMG signal data collected by the double Myo armbands which contains data of 52 movements for 10 subjects. The results show that the accuracy of about 90% can be achieved when using 52 sEMG signal data from every single subject or all subjects. © 2019, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology which is widely used in medical area, especially in surgery room. In many cases, cumbersome equipments or complicated algorithm are introduced to establish the whole system, which would make it inefficient and unsuitable for surgery environment. This paper presents a convenient method for video see-through augmented reality on the basis of existing image-guided surgery system developed by our research center. We describe the prototype of the system, the registration of virtual objects in a marker coordinate system, and the motion tracking of the Head Mounted Display (HMD) using A Toolkit. Finally, we present the experiment results which show that the proposed AR technology can provide augmented information for the surgeons and work well with existing image-guided surgery system.

In recent years, much achievement have been made in the field of 3D clothed human reconstruction. However, most of researches performed not well for reconstruction from in-the-wild images due to the domain gap between the synthetic images of training datasets and the in-the-wild images. In this study, a modular model, including clothes encoder, body encoder and cloth generator, is proposed to perform 3D clothed human reconstruction from one single-view in-the-wild RGB image. In particular, we introduce the adaptive aggregation of convolution and multi-head attention into the cloth encoder and apply the adjustment of the segmentation at the preprocessing stage. According to experiments on MSCOCO and 3DPW datasets, the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on 3D clothed human reconstruction from in-the-wild images compared with previous works.
