Code comments play an essential role in aiding developers understand and maintain source code. Current code comment generation techniques can be classified into categories: extractive methods and abstractive methods. Extractive methods use text retrieval techniques to extract important code tokens to constitute comments. Such comments contain important factual details articulated explicitly in code tokens, but are poor in naturalness. Abstractive methods usually regard code comment generation as a neural machine translation task. By leveraging powerful deep learning-based language models, abstractive methods can generate comments that resemble human writing. However, compared with natural language, programming language code is more complex. Comments generated by abstractive methods often leave out important factual details. In this paper, we propose a novel method for code comment generation by integrating extractive and abstractive models. Our extractive model is built on the Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) model, effectively extracting important factual details in code snippets. Meanwhile, our abstractive model is built on a deep learning-based encoder-decoder model, enabling it to generate concise and human-written-like comments. We evaluate the effectiveness of our method, called ICS, by conducting extensive experiments on the CodeSearchNet dataset involving six programming languages. The results demonstrate that ICS outperforms state-of-the-art techniques in three widely used metrics: BLEU, METEOR, and ROUGE-L. Moreover, the outcomes of the human evaluation indicate that the comments generated by ICS exhibit superior naturalness and informativeness, and closely align with the provided code snippets. © 2023 IEEE.

A basic model of data illustrates the logical structure of a database including the relations and the constraints which determine how the data is stored and its accessibility. Individual database models are based upon the rules and concepts of a broader data model adopted by designer. Most data models can be represented with basic tables and diagrams. This paper will address the data model semantic and their interaction with Query languages. It will also discuss the general methods for implementing data models and data concepts, as they are applied to a wide range of semantic data models. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.

Web frameset is used to organize multiple frames and nested framesets to make the layout of some Web pages more identical and bring the development of Web applications easier, which was wildly used in today's Web applications. Web applications can only be accessed through dedicated client systems called Web browsers. The behaviors of Web frameset and Web browser interactions influence the functionalities and navigation of Web applications. In this paper, special care on Web frameset and Web browser interactions is paid and an approach to modeling the Web application's navigation and test generation with Web frameset and browser interactions is proposed. The extended FSM is employed to formalize the navigation models and a FSM-TT (FSM Test-Tree) is constructed. At last, test generation is given out from FSM-TT which satisfies the corresponding coverage criteria. ©2009 IEEE.

As large language models (LLMs) rapidly advance, rigorous testing and evaluation of these models grows increasingly crucial. To address this need, we have developed three types of questions: Chinese contextual, English contextual, and language context-independent. testing in both Chinese and English probes the LLMs' hallucination tendencies. We investigate the impact of language on hallucinations from two perspectives: The type of language used in the input prompt and the cultural context underlying the prompt's content. Additionally, 52 multi-domain single-choice questions from C-EVAL are presented in original and randomized order to assess robustness to perturbations. Among the five LLMs, the tests demonstrate GPT-4 has the strongest anti-hallucination and robustness capabilities, answering with greater accuracy, consistency, and reliability. ChatGLM ranks second and outperforms GPT-4 on Chinese context-dependent questions. Emergent testing phenomena are analyzed from the user's perspective. Hallucinated responses are categorized and potential causal factors leading to hallucination and fragility are examined. Based on these findings, viable avenues for improvement are proposed. © 2023 IEEE.

A concurrent program is intuitively associated with probability. In this paper we propose a platform independent approach, called ProbPP, to analyzing the probabilities on the execution paths of the multithreaded programs. The main idea of ProbPP is to calculate the probabilities on the basis of two kinds of probabilities: Primitive Dependent Probabilities (PDPs) representing the control dependent probabilities among the program statements and Thread Execution Probabilities (TEPs) representing the probabilities of threads being scheduled to execute. We have also conducted two preliminary experiments to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of ProbPP, and the experimental results show that ProbPP can provide engineers with acceptable accuracy. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper studies the software scenario testing, which is commonly used in black-box testing. In the paper, the workflow model based on task-driven, which is very common in scenario testing, is analyzed. According to test business model in scenario testing, the model is designed to corresponding test case suite. The test case suite that conforms to the scenario test can be obtained through test case generation and test item design. In the last part of the paper, framework of test case suite design is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

A SOFL specification can be written with errors inside, leading to an untrustable situation for implementation. Some techniques, such as specification review and testing, have been proposed to detect and remove the errors from the specification as early as possible. Meanwhile these techniques face strong challenges when applied to practice in that they strongly rely on human intelligence to either cautiously design a review task tree for directing the whole review process, or design some test inputs to "run" the specification. The completeness of the review or testing tasks also remains a problem. In this paper we propose a hybrid approach to checking the internal consistency of a SOFL specification. The internal consistency is an important property indicating that the entire specification can work properly. The essential idea of the hybrid approach is to adopt the different strategies to check the different aspects of the specification: concrete or abstract values are used to check the satisfiability of a process, and the symbolic execution and the deduction techniques can be used to check the internal consistency of the specification at the integration level. We also use a Sort-Search example to illustrate the use of the hybrid approach. © 2014 Springer International Publishing Switzerland.

The lack of systematic approach for product family modeling leads to difficulties in developing a series of high-quality software products simultaneously. This paper tackles this challenge by combining product line approach and formal specification technique. After constructing the feature model of the target family, our approach will start the formalization of the bottom-level features. For each feature, a formal model will be built according to its inner structure and function details. Any problem occurred during this process will cause the evolvement of the feature model under the guidance of a set of pre-defined evolution rules. The final product family model will be established when no problem can be found in both feature model and feature specification. This interleaving of feature model evolvement and feature formalization facilitates consistent and complete product family modeling from both abstract and concrete levels. A case study is given to illustrate the validity of the approach. © 2019 IEEE.

Photographs captured with sufficient exposure under low-light conditions are usually blurred if there are moving objects. Under some circumstances, the restoration is challenging because of complicated motion blur such as rotation and distortion. In this paper, we propose a novel method to replace the motion blur objects of blurred image with the corresponding sharp objects of flash image using Poisson interpolation. First, assisted by the sufficient exposure blurred image, we adopt graph-cut to minimize a simple cost function and extract the intensely lightened sharp objects in the flash image. Second, we interpolate the extracted sharp objects into the blurred image, and then remove the remnant blur around the sharp objects through gradient domain Poisson interpolation. Further, a simple method is designed that the user can interactively adjust the brightness and contrast of flash area in the synthetical image. The experiments demonstrate that our algorithms are efficient. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides a popular and convenient way for the user to freely interact with the systems which makes it widely used in various software applications;it has become an important and indispensable part of today's software. Owing to the characteristics of GUIs different from the traditional software, traditional test techniques and methods cannot satisfy the requirements of GUI testing. Modeling and testing of GUIs-based system is a difficult and challenging work. GUIs-based application is an event-driven application. In GUIs, there exist not only the input events and output events, but also the internal events. In this paper, we identify the input events, output events and internal events and propose an approach to modeling and testing of GUIs-based system using the IOLTS, and input events, output events and internal events are also taken into account. Constraints on events and regular expressions on validation of data are given out. The interactions of GUIs are constructed by the corresponding output events. Finally, tests generation and tests instantiation are given out. © 2014 IEEE.
