Energy management of solid oxide fuel cell/lithium battery hybrid system

The research of fuel cell and lithium battery hybrid system has attracted more and more researchers because of its advantages of low emission. However, the lower efficiency of energy management has been a critical factor that obstruct the commercialization of hybrid system. In this work, based on finite element ideas, a solid oxide full cell node model is developed to accurately estimate the operating status of the fuel cell. As for lithium battery, previous energy management studies generally only focused on state of charge, however, state of health is also a key parameter for lithium battery. In this paper, considering the strong coupling between variables we use particle filter algorithm to jointly estimate the state of charge and state of health. To reasonably distribute and manage the energy in the hybrid system, a T-S fuzzy controller for the hybrid system is designed by controlling the state variables in the SOFC model and the state of lithium battery. Finally, our algorithm is verified by DSPACE simulation platform. The result shows that the hybrid system with the energy management strategy not only meets the real-time sharply changing demand but also ensures the hybrid system working efficiently and safely. © 2022 China Electric Power Research Institute. A new automatic mass detection method for breast cancer with false positive reduction

Mass localization is a crucial problem in computer-aided detection (CAD) system for the diagnosis of suspicious regions in mammograms. In this paper, a new automatic mass detection method for breast cancer in mammographic images is proposed. Firstly, suspicious regions are located with an adaptive region growing method, named multiple concentric layers (MCL) approach. Prior knowledge is utilized by tuning parameters with training data set during the MCL step. Then, the initial regions are further refined with narrow band based active contour (NBAC), which can improve the segmentation accuracy of masses. Texture features and geometry features are extracted from the regions of interest (ROI) containing the segmented suspicious regions and the boundaries of the segmentation. The texture features are computed from gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) and completed local binary pattern (CLBP). Finally, the ROIs are classified by means of support vector machine (SVM), with supervision provided by the radiologist׳s diagnosis. To deal with the imbalance problem regarding the number of non-masses and masses, supersampling and downsampling are incorporated. The method was evaluated on a dataset with 429 craniocaudal (CC) view images, containing 504 masses. Among them, 219 images containing 260 masses are used to optimize the parameters during MCL step, and are used to train SVM. The remaining 210 images (with 244 masses) are used to test the performance. Masses are detected with 82.4% sensitivity with 5.3 false positives per image (FPsI) with MCL, and after active contour refinement, feature analysis and classification, it obtained 1.48 FPsI at the sensitivity 78.2%. Testing on 164 normal mammographic images showed 5.18 FPsI with MCL and 1.51 FPsI after classification. Experiments on mediolateral oblique (MLO) images have also been performed, the proposed method achieved a sensitivity 75.6% at 1.38 FPsI. A three-dimensional (3D) thermal lattice Boltzmann model of crystal growth is presented to study the magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) mixed convection in the melt of Czochralski silicon single crystal growth in this paper. In order to solve the problem of lattice Boltzmann method's difficulty in solving the flow of 3D cylindrical cavity, the 3D physical model of crystal growth is transformed from the Cartesian coordinate system to the Curvilinear coordinate system. And the irregular grids in the Cartesian coordinate system are transformed into regular grids in the Curvilinear coordinate system to facilitate the establishment of the Lattice Boltzmann model. Under the above operations, two coupled distribution functions are established to solve the governing equations. Two D3Q19 models are adopted to solve the melt velocity and temperature. And the 3D lattice Boltzmann modeling of crystal growth with cylinder boundary is realized by interpolation in Curvilinear coordinate system. The comparison with the experiment and other references proves that the proposed model and boundary treatment scheme is correct and it proposes a new way for studying the 3D crystal growth or other similar 3D cylindrical cavity simulations. Furthermore, the unstable melt flow for two cases are also simulated in this paper and the critical Reynolds number are also obtained. Results show that the introduction of the transverse magnetic field enhances the stability of the crystal growth system and increases the adjustable range of crystal rotation parameter. The obtained conclusion has an important reference for adjusting the process parameters during the CZ crystal growth. © 2024 The Author(s)

The phenomenon of cracks on the surface of buildings is widespread. The existence of cracks affects the normal use of buildings, shortening the service life, seriously damaging the structure of buildings, resulting in safety accidents. Therefore, regular detection and reinforcement of cracks on the surface of buildings is a necessary link to ensure safety. At present, the detection of building surface cracks is mainly carried out by manpower with means of equipment assisted. However, there are some problems in manpower detection, such as high manpower consumption, low *** paper presents a method of detecting and inspecting cracks on building surface based on image processing technology in machine vision, which includes image gray transformation, image denoising etc. Curve fitting and least square method are used to obtain crack parameters, so as to improve the inspecting efficiency and realize the automation of building surface inspection. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this paper, an insulator missing defect detection method is proposed based on unmanned aerial vehicles to solve the problem of glass insulator burst fault detection in high-voltage transmission lines. Firstly, the proposed method utilizes the improved Mask R-CNN (region-based convolutional neural network) algorithm to segment insulator strings in aerial images. Then, the constructed encoder-decoder network is used to extract and reconstruct features of the insulators, resulting in residual images. Finally, the residual images preserve the location information of the fault and obtains the result of missing insulators. The experiment shows that the proposed algorithm has high segmentation accuracy for insulators and high recognition accuracy for insulator missing faults.

Architectural distortion is the third most common sign of breast cancer in mammograms. The accurate recognition is important for computer aided diagnosis of breast cancer. However, due to the subtle symptom and complex structures in the mammogram images, it is difficult to recognize whether a region of interest (ROI) is truly an architectural distortion. In this paper, we proposed a new method for architectural distortion recognition. In the proposed method, several texture features are extracted for each region of interest, including features from GLCM matrix, spiculated related features, entropy features, etc. Feature selection is obtained by a sub-classes clustering based multi-task learning method (SMTL), which can utilize the discriminative label information and reflect the multi-clustering characteristic of the data samples. Finally, the powerful sparse representation based classifier is used for the classification of AD or non-AD. The proposed method has been tested on DDSM dataset and compared with several other methods, the experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this paper, we propose a cooperative motion planning method for a group of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) crossing a lane-free intersection without using explicit traffic signaling. This multi-vehicle motion planning task is formulated as a centralized optimal control problem. However, the solution to this optimal control problem is numerically intractable due to the high dimensionality of the collision-avoidance constraints and the nonlinearity of the vehicle kinematics. A two-stage strategy is proposed for generating online solutions: at Stage 1, the CAVs are requested to reach a standard formation before entering the intersection;at Stage 2, the vehicles cross the intersection. As the motion planning sub-problem at Stage 2 begins with a standard configuration, the optimal solution to this standard sub-problem can be computed offline in advance and applied online directly. On the other hand, the formation reconfiguration sub-problem at Stage 1 is easy to solve online. Through dividing the entire dynamic process into two periods, the difficulties in the original optimal control problem are significantly reduced so that the real-time performance is achieved. © 2018 IEEE.

Practice shows that the case teaching method can effectively enhance students' self-learning ability, improve students' comprehensive innovation ability, and promote the development of artificial intelligence teaching.

As the largest class of small non-coding RNAs, piRNAs primarily present in the reproductive cells of mammals, which influence post-transcriptional processes of mRNAs in multiple ways. Effective methods for predicting piRNA and mRNA target relationships can help identify piRNA functions, investigate the possibility of piRNAs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this study, we propose a computational approach for classifying the relationships of piRNA-mRNA pairs based on an interactive inference network (IIN). First, we gather piRNA-mRNA target data, collect sequence data by position alignment, and construct a benchmark dataset. Furthermore, a reliable negative set is constructed by positive-unlabeled learning. Finally, we view a piRNA and a mRNA sequence as a premise and hypothesis sentence, respectively, and IIN model is used to predict the relationship between them. The experiments demonstrate that our method effectively characterizes piRNA-mRNA interaction and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate piRNA functions.
