Content-Centric Networking (CCN), is built on the notion of content-based security. With the integration of Network Coding (NC) into CCN to contribute to the best performance, security, one of the key features of CCN has been left behind. Though the permission for encoding/recoding content packets at producers and intermediate routers provides performance benefits, it also introduces additional security issues and disables existing security practices. In this paper, we fill the gap by analyzing new security challenges brought accordingly and proposing an Autonomous Systems (AS-s) based security mechanism for NC applications in CCN. It can not only guarantee the optimal performance of NC, but also offer the assurance for Integrity, Origin Authentication and Correctness of content packets, together with proving trustworthiness among border routers. More importantly, we also shed light on the performance issues and implementation problems of the mechanism. © 2017, Springer International Publishing AG.

With the prevalence of web-based learning, the application of concept mapping, as a powerful diagnostic and instructional tool, has been widely exploited in both education and computer science. In recent years, several methods have been presented to automatically construct concept map that achieved encouraging results, while ignoring some critical issues when applied in actual E-learning system. In this paper, we propose a practical approach for constructing concept map, which is adapted to the dynamic character of a real system. Moreover, we apply fuzzy set theory and fuzzy reasoning basis on fuzzy rules for similarity degree between two concepts, to find direct prerequisite relationship among concepts. It provides a useful way to improve accuracy and reduce complexity of the concept map.

Cache technology has emerged as a promising approach for distributed web systems to mitigate the web server's data access performance bottleneck. In this paper, we propose a decentralized load balancing architecture. The cache system takes advantage of the decentralized architecture for providing scalability and high availability. It can provide content requested by a user if it is cached in any of the cache servers in the system. Moreover, it can reduce the network traffic for web servers if the requested contents are cached in the system. We also propose a dynamic load balancing algorithm called Adaptive Dynamic Algorithm to dispatch requested contents that are not cached in the cache system to different cache servers. In Adaptive Dynamic Algorithm, we combine load metrics (CPU, memory) and number of alive requests to predict the real load of cache server. The balance strategy prevents the cache servers to be skew, improves cache hit rate, and reduces response time effectively. Experimental results support that our proposed load balancing algorithm is faster than Round Robin and Least Connection, and the content hit rate is higher than Round Robin and Least Connection too.

Uplink control information (UCI) and discontinuous reception (DRX) play important roles for massive machine type communication (mMTC). Despite their standalone significance, a conspicuous gap exists in comprehensively exploring the synergy between UCI and DRX concerning both energy conservation and latency reduction for mMTC. In this letter, we propose a UCI-based clustered access and DRX management (UCADM) scheme that strikes a balance between these two critical performance metrics, reducing energy usage while preserving low latency in uplink-downlink interaction for mMTC. Specifically, we present a strictly feasible solution for the proposed UCADM scheme by using the spectral radius and the constraint projection, which can effectively solve DRX switching operations as indicated by scheduling information from UCI. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of our scheme. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

In the blockchain,the consensus mechanism plays a key role in maintaining the security and legitimation of contents recorded in the *** blockchain consensus mechanisms have been ***,there is no technical analysis and comparison as a guideline to determine which type of consensus mechanism should be adopted in a specific scenario/*** this end,this work investigates three mainstream consensus mechanisms in the blockchain,namely,Proof of Work(PoW),Proof of Stake(PoS),and Direct Acyclic Graph(DAG),and identifies their performances in terms of the average time to generate a new block,the confirmation delay,the Transaction Per Second(TPS)and the confirmation failure *** results show that the consensus process is affected by both network resource(computation power/coin age,buffer size)and network load *** addition,it shows that PoW and PoS are more sensitive to the change of network resource while DAG is more sensitive to network load conditions.

Regenerating codes (RGC) are a class of distributed storage codes that can provide efficient repair of failure nodes in distributed storage systems. In general, the reduction of repair bandwidth of RGC is at the expense of a small increase in storage cost and computational cost. The high computational complexity of data coding over a finite field of large size makes it unsuitable for practical distributed storage systems. BASIC codes, which stands for Binary Addition and Shift Implementable Convolutional codes, is introduced in [1] with the aim of reducing computational complexity, while retaining the benefits of RGC. In this paper, we present a construction of exact-repair BASIC codes at the minimum-storage point (MSR). A helper node needs no coding to repair a failure node for the minimum-storage BASIC codes. The results of simulation show minimum-storage BASIC codes outperform Cauchy Reed-Solomon codes in both repairing cost and coding cost.

We investigate the phase sensitivity of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) with an input of a non-Gaussian quantum entangled state, two-mode photon-subtracted squeezed vacuum states (TMPSSV). Parity detection is carried out at the output of the interferometer to obtain the phase uncertainty, which is a physical parameter that can quantify the sensitivity of interferometry. According to the simulation results, TMPSSV has a smaller phase uncertainty than the two-mode squeezed vacuum state (TMSV) in the entire range of the squeezing parameter which means the sensitivity of interferometry based on TMPSSV is higher than that of TMSV. Therefore, non-Gaussian entanglement based on TMPSSV provides a promising quantum resource for an ultra-sensitivity optical interferometer far beyond the standard quantum limit. © 2024 SPIE.

Characterizing a material's thermo-optic coefficient lays the foundation for optimizing thermal tuning of photonic integrated devices, a key feature for applications in optical communication, sensing, and signal processing. Unlike traditional bulk measurements, determining the thermo-optic coefficient (TOC) in microscale photonic devices offers significant advantages in data processing and provides more direct relevance to real-world device performance. In this work, we characterize the TOC of gallium phosphide (GaP) films using an air-cladded ring resonator, built on a GaP-on-insulator (GaP-OI) architecture. The resonator is fabricated via an optimized "etch-n-transfer" process, which incorporates silicon dioxide hard masks to enhance the precision of pattern transfer and improve the waveguide surface cleanliness, reducing defects and ensuring better device performance. The fabricated resonator exhibits a loaded quality factor of (2.18 ± 0.1)×104 at 1550 nm by using contact lithography, with a waveguide propagation loss of 23.8 ± 0.3 dB/cm. At 780 nm, the propagation loss decreases to 16.7 dB/cm. The resonator also shows a temperature-dependent wavelength shift of 65.8 pm/K, allowing us to extract a TOC of 1.19 × 10−4/K for GaP. This high temperature sensitivity empowers the GaP-OI platform particularly well-suited for rapid thermal turning, which is beneficial for a range of applications including optical sensing, optical signal processing, and highly efficient nonlinear conversion. © 2025 Author(s).

We investigate the photon statistics of two-mode photon-subtracted squeezed vacuum states (TMPSSV), which are important factors to affect the sensitivity and resolution of optical interferometers. The comparison between the photon statistics of TMPSSV and two-mode squeezed vacuum states (TMSV) shows that the non-Gaussian operation has the effect of narrowing the characteristic widths of photon number probability distributions. Different from the super-Poissonian statistical distribution of TMSV, when the initial squeezing parameter is lower, TMPSSV shows a sub-Poissonian statistical distribution which is desirable for enhancing the sensitivity and resolution of interferometers. Therefore, non-Gaussian entanglement based on TMPSSV provides a promising quantum resource for an ultra-sensitivity and super-resolution optical interferometer far beyond the standard quantum limit. © 2023 SPIE.
