This paper presents a practical and general coder and decoder of network coding (NC) with HDL (Hardware Description Language) logic for wire-speed nodes in multisource multicast networks. The NC coders apply random linear network coding (RLNC) and the decoders recover the original packets by Cramer's rule. All these mathematical operations are carried out in the Galois Field (2 8). The structures and algorithms of NC coder and decoder were designed in detail and implemented in HDL with NetFPGA boards provided by Stanford University. Comparing with traditional stored-and-forward mechanism, network emulations showed that networks with wire-speed NC coder and decoder nodes could achieve the capacity bound of max-flow min-cut theorem in case of bottlenecks, and the end-to-end delay was guaranteed on a small constant. © 2011 IEEE.

The traditional multicast switch fabrics, which were mainly developed from the unicast switch fabrics, currently are not able to achieve high efficiency and flexible large-scale scalab.lity. In the light of lattice theory and multicast concentrator, a novel multistage interconnection multicast switch fabric is proposed in this paper. Comparing to traditional multicast switch fabrics, this multicast switch fabric has the advantages of superior scalab.lity, wire-speed, jitter-free multicast with low delay, and no queuing buffer. This paper thoroughly analyzes the performance of the proposed multicast switch fabric with supporting prioritybased multicast. Simulations on packet loss rate and delay are discussed and presented at normalized load. Moreover, a detailed FPGA implementation is given. Practical network traffic tests provide evidence supporting the feasibility and stability of the proposed fabric. © 2014 The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.

The method of network coding has been proven a promising solution to fanin conflict problems (traffic flows conflicting at input ports) in multicast switches in previous work. However, this approach is inefficient when applied to frame-based switches because of over-splitting with conventional algorithms. These algorithms do not support the benefits of network coding to be fully realized when ignoring the impact of fanout splitting. In this paper, we employ a self-defined weight for the Maximum Weight Matching (MWM) scheme for multicast switches. The corresponding scheduling algorithm avoids over-splitting to any traffic flow. The so-called Coding-Driven scheduling algorithm can remarkably decrease the minimum time slots required for scheduling, therefore improve the efficiency of network coding method in multicast switches as showed in the empirical results. © 2011 IEEE.

Vector-space distributed representations of words can capture syntactic and semantic regularities in language and help learning algorithms to achieve better performance in natural language processing tasks by grouping similar words. With progress of machine learning techniques in recent years, much attention has been paid on this field. However, many NLP tasks such as text summary and sentence matching treat sentences as atomic units. In this paper, we introduce a new model called DRWS which can learn distributed representations for words and variable-length sentences. Feature vectors for words and sentences are learned based on their probability of co-occurrence between words and sentences using a neural network. To evaluate feature vectors learned by our model, we applied our model on the tasks of detecting word similarity and text summarization. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model in learning vector representations for words and sentences. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

This paper presents an efficient hardware prototype for network coding (NC). First, a packet synchronization mechanism is introduced to settle the problem of packet arriving mismatch between different incoming channels. Then a high-speed lookup-table-based circuit is designed to perform dot product over Galois Field, which forms the basic calculation unit of NC operation. Taking the speed advantage of FPGA hardware, this prototype is able to perform network coding operations within several hundred nanoseconds. Thus further studies and emulations on NC are able to be carried out upon this platform in the real network scenario.

Full virtualization is vastly applied in desktop virtualization. Although hardware-assisted virtualization greatly improves the performance, the interactive performance is still a bottleneck for full virtualization. Interactive performance is mainly influenced by I/O devices. In one hand, I/O devices are slow device. In another hand, they are often shared by multiple virtual machines through simulation. Our study focuses on the interactive performance optimization, and can mainly be classified into three categories: (1) Targeting multi-core system, we investigate virtual machine deployment to ensure stable performance of the whole system and individual virtual machine. (2) Dynamically adjust the resource among virtual machines based on the individual machine's interactive behavior. (3) Optimize the I/O request scheduler in term of the virtualization implementation. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

With the prevalence of web-based learning, the application of concept mapping, as a powerful diagnostic and instructional tool, has been widely exploited in both education and computer science. In recent years, several methods have been presented toautomatically construct concept map that achieved encouraging results, while ignoring some critical issues when applied in actual E-learning system. In this paper,we propose a practical approach for constructing concept map,which is adapted tothe dynamic character of a real ***, we apply fuzzy set theory and fuzzy reasoning basis on fuzzy rules for similarity degree between twoconcepts, tofind direct prerequisite relationship among concepts. It provides a useful way toimprove accuracy and reduce complexity of the concept map.

Cache sharing among multiple computing units on chip is common in today's multi-core processors, and a lot of research has focused on the effective management of shared cache. A software management method called page coloring is commonly used to divide the cache among different applications competing for the same cache entries. Both static and dynamic cache partition mechanism have been implemented in operating system or user-space level. However, few efforts have been made under virtualization environments. Our previous work has provided a static cache partition method based on page coloring in Xen, following that, a dynamic cache partition mechanism called Colored Page Migration (CoPaM) is presented in this paper. © 2012 IEEE.

Network coding is able to address output conflicts when fanout splitting is allowed for multicast ***,it successfully achieves a larger rate region than non-coding approaches in crossbar ***,network coding requires large coding buffers and a high computational cost on encoding and *** this paper,we propose a novel Online Network Coding framework called Online NC for multicast switches,which is adaptive to constrained ***,it enjoys a much lower decoding complexity by a Vandermonde matrix based approach,as compared to conven-tional randomized network coding Our approach realizes online coding with one coding algo-rithm that synchronizes buffering and ***,we significantly reduce requirements on buffer space,while also sustaining high *** confirm the superior advantages of our contributions using empirical studies.
