computer-aided instruction (CAI) technology has an important influence in the stage of music education and teaching, no matter in educational concept, educational content or curriculum form. With people paying more and more attention to music education, the application of CAI in music teaching has become a hot spot in today's education. This article presents a computer-aided visual music instructional model based on emotional feature detection. In this model, the graph-convolution network (GCN) is used to identify the emotional characteristics of music, and the emotional information in music is extracted and transformed into a visual form to help students better understand and feel the emotional expression in music. The application of this model can transform the audio characteristics of music works into visual images through image processing technology, so that students can better understand the emotional characteristics of music works. Moreover, the flexibility and operability of CAI system also provide more possibilities and creativity for music teaching. The model proposed in this article has a wide application prospect and can provide an effective auxiliary tool for music teaching and music emotion research. © 2024 U-turn Press LLC.

The Linux-based desktop operating systems now dominate China's Market of Information technology Application Innovation, as well as the kernel drivers and application companions. All of them can be arranged as software packages, such as Linux kernels, system configurations, core dynamic libraries. Building such a sophisticated and dynamic ecosystem urges for a clear and pipelined architecture of the build system. In this paper we elaborate our design and practice of the openKylin build and management system, including a property-extended modular package management system, an incremental upgrading and updating scheme, a remote maintenance system, and an enhanced modular code management system. The deployment results show that the openKylin build system has coherent procedure.

Consensus protocols can help guarantee security and sustainability to maintain the decentralized Blockchain system used in different scenarios and applications due to their different features. There are two main prevalent protocols, Proof of Work (PoW) used in Bitcoin and Proof of Stake (PoS) used in Ethereum. This paper reviews these two consensus protocols, PoW and PoS, and their related improvements and applications. We first introduce the basic concepts, implementations, advantages, and disadvantages of PoW and PoW and make a detailed comparison between these two protocols. We find that though providing security when honest participants are the majority, PoW may lead to excessive power consumption. While PoS is relatively insecure and leads to monopoly (centralization), though energy efficient by discarding complex hash operations. Therefore, some newly proposed consensus protocols have attempted to find a pleasant compromise between these two classic protocols. After a detailed analysis, we investigate the researches related to the defect improvements of PoS and PoW. Finally, we describe various applications of PoS and PoW, including cryptocurrencies and information storage. © 2021 IEEE.

Covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) is a successful evolutionary algorithm for continuous optimization. The cumulative step size adaptation (CSA) is the default method for adapting the step size in CMA-ES and achieves remarkable performance in practice. It follows the idea of exploiting the correlations between search directions in consecutive generations. In this paper, we investigate the effects of the update directions and the length in CSA. We find that sampling from uniform sphere distribution can yield comparative performance to the default setting, and normalizing the update direction in CSA does not hurt the performance. Further, the CSA with actual search direction cannot perform well, and the correlation between the default direction of CSA and the actual search direction is rather small. It indicates that CSA does not accumulate the actual search directions. We argue that the step size and the covariance matrix should be updated by decoupled search information, and accumulating the actual search direction results in inferior performance due to the same update direction in two evolution paths for the step size and covariance matrix updates.

Rethinking Quality of Experience for Metaverse Services: A Consumer-based Economics Perspective

The Metaverse is considered to be one prototype of the next-generation Internet, which contains people’s expectations for the future world. However, the academic discussion of the Metaverse still mainly focused on the technical system design, and few research studied Metaverse challenges from the perspective of consumers, i.e., Metaverse users. One difficulty is that the analysis from the consumer’s perspective requires interdisciplinary theoretical framework and quantifiable Quality of Experience (QoE) measurements. In this article, pioneering from consumers’ point of view, we explore an interaction between Metaverse system design and consumer behaviors. Specifically, we rethink QoE and propose an framework that encompasses both the Metaverse service providers (MSPs) and consumer considerations. From the macro perspective, we introduce a joint optimization scheme that simultaneously considers the Metaverse system design, consumers’ utility, and profitability of the MSPs. From the micro perspective, we advocate the Willingness-to-Pay (WTP) as an easy-to-implement measurement for future Metaverse system studies. To illustrate the usability of the proposed integrated framework, a use case, i.e., virtual traveling, is presented. We show that our framework can benefit the MSPs in offering competitive and economical service design to consumers while maximizing the profit. © 2022, CC BY.

Special relationship exists between environmental conditions and discharge characteristic parameters in electrostatic discharge (ESD) events. The neural network can explore the potential law between input and output if taken discharge condition parameters as a neural network input. Characteristics of discharge results are affected by environmental conditions, and hence discharge parameters can be described with the output of a neural network. Two algorithms of artificial intelligence were used to analyzing discharge results in electrostatic discharge. The nonlinear relationship between discharge conditions and discharge effect may be a new potential discharge feature. Noise in discharge current can be suppressed with wavelet and Kalman filter method. The characteristics measured in the real experiment were compared with the prediction parameters from the neuro-network calculation result. According to the prediction data, the discussion was conducted on correctness accuracy and the discharge process trend analysis.

Thanks to the unparalleled advantages of environmentally friendly and low-cost, carbon-based materials have been a hot research topic as potassium ion anode materials. The key to future practical applications lies in the development of carbon anode with high capability and long life. Recent studies suggest that N, O-doping can improve the ion transfer and provide abundant active sites. Herein, density functional theory calculations are carried to confirm these functions of N, O-doping and vacancy defects. The results reveal that potassium ion adsorbability is increasing in order of N-doping, O-doping, and vacancy defects. And the existence of vacancy defects and heteroatom doping induce the spontaneous migration of potassium ion. Furthermore, rich vacancy defects can inhibit the increasing of layer distance to restrain volume variation after potassium ion intercalation. Inspired by the calculations, nanoblow-like structured carbon with abundant vacancy defects and N, O heteroatoms is elaborately designed through the structural engineering. On account of the synergistic effects between vacancy defects, heteroatom doping, and unique nanobowl-like structure, the N, O-doped carbon nanobowls achieve a high capacity of 178.0 mA h g-1 over 2000 cycles at 2 A g-1 and a high-rate capability retention of 86.97% (154.8 mA h g-1 at 10 A g-1). © 2022, The Authors. AI plays an important role in COVID-19 identification. computer vision and deep learning techniques can assist in determining COVID-19 infection with Chest X-ray Images. However, for the protection and respect of the privacy of patients, the hospital’s specific medical-related data did not allow leakage and sharing without permission. Collecting such training data was a major challenge. To a certain extent, this has caused a lack of sufficient data samples when performing deep learning approaches to detect COVID-19. Federated Learning is an available way to address this issue. It can effectively address the issue of data silos and get a shared model without obtaining local data. In the work, we propose the use of federated learning for COVID-19 data training and deploy experiments to verify the effectiveness. And we also compare performances of four popular models (MobileNet, ResNet18, MoblieNet, and COVID-Net) with the federated learning framework and without the framework. Short QT syndrome (SQTS) is an inherited cardiac disease characterized by ventricular tachyarrhythmias leading to sudden cardiac death (SCD). SQT3 has been linked to the D172N or E299V gain-in-function mutation to Kir2.1, which preferentially increases outward current through channels responsible for inward rectifier K + current (I K1 ). Until now, the only effective therapy is implantation of a defibrillator whereas clinical drug therapy is little known about it. Previous studies reported that anti-malarial drug chloroquine was an effective inhibitor of the mutant Kir2.1 channels. The effectiveness of chloroquine has demonstrated in SQT3 associated with D172N mutation, there is a reason to believe that it may be useful in the other mutations in SQT3, such as E299V mutation. Therefore, we aim to predict and compare the potential effects of drug chloroquine on SQT3 D172N and E299V mutations. In this study, the ten Tusscher model of ventricular cell was coupled with the SQT3 mutant I K1 patch clamp data. Our simulation data showed that chloroquine prolonged the ventricular cell action potential duration (APD) and QT interval under SQT3 condition, and demonstrated that chloroquine produced a therapeutic effect on different mutant SQT3. This study provides new evidence that chloroquine may be a potential generic drug for the treatment of SQTS.

Dynamic texture (DT) exhibits statistical stationarity in the spatial domain and stochastic repetitiveness in the temporal dimension, indicating that different frames of DT possess a high similarity correlation that is critical prior knowledge. However, existing methods cannot effectively learn a synthesis model for high-dimensional DT from a small number of training samples. In this paper, we propose a novel DT synthesis method, which makes full use of similarity as prior knowledge to address this issue. Our method is based on the proposed kernel similarity embedding, which can not only mitigate the high-dimensionality and small sample issues, but also has the advantage of modeling nonlinear feature relationships. Specifically, we first put forward two hypotheses that are essential for the DT model to generate new frames using similarity correlations. Then, we integrate kernel learning and the extreme learning machine into a unified synthesis model to learn kernel similarity embeddings for representing DTs. Extensive experiments on DT videos collected from the internet and two benchmark datasets, i.e., Gatech Graphcut Textures and Dyntex, demonstrate that the learned kernel similarity embeddings can provide discriminative representations for DTs. Further, our method can preserve the long-term temporal continuity of the synthesized DT sequences with excellent sustainability and generalization. Meanwhile, it effectively generates realistic DT videos with higher speed and lower computation than the current state-of-the-art methods.
