Deployment optimization for target perpetual coverage in energy harvesting wireless sensor network

Energy limitation of traditional Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)greatly confines the network lifetime due to generating and processing massive sensing data with a limited *** energy harvesting WSN is a novel network architecture to address the limitation of traditional ***,existing coverage and deployment schemes neglect the environmental correlation of sensor nodes and external energy with respect to physical *** considering the spatial correlation of the environment and the uneven distribution of energy in energy harvesting WSN,we investigate how to deploy a collection of sensor nodes to save the deployment cost while ensuring the target perpetual *** Confident Information Coverage(CIC)model is adopted to formulate the CIC Minimum Deployment Cost Target Perpetual Coverage(CICMTP)problem to minimize the deployed sensor *** the CICMTP is NP-hard,we devise two approximation algorithms named Local Greedy Threshold Algorithm based on CIC(LGTA-CIC)and Overall Greedy Search Algorithm based on CIC(OGSA-CIC).The LGTA-CIC has a low time complexity and the OGSA-CIC has a better approximation *** simulation results demonstrate that the OGSA-CIC is able to achieve lower deployment cost and the performance of the proposed algorithms outperforms GRNP,TPNP and EENP algorithms.

The processes of sowing and fertiliser application represent a significant aspect of agricultural production. In order to achieve efficient and precise seeding and fertiliser application, mass flow detection of seed and fertiliser particles can facilitate real-time monitoring and precise decision-making for intelligent seeding and fertiliser application. However, the diversity of seed and fertiliser particle types and particle flow modes presents a challenge for existing detection methods, particularly in meeting the varying operational requirements, especially for particle mass flow detection in low-altitude and high-speed sowing operations of agricultural drones. In such cases, the overlap and flow rate will have a significant impact on the detection results due to the large displacement and the continuous high-throughput dense phase of the particle flow. This paper provides a summary of the existing seed and fertiliser particle mass flow detection techniques and their underlying working principles. It compares the direct detection based on mass with the indirect detection methods based on velocity and concentration, and analyses their respective advantages, disadvantages and applicability. It also explores the possibility of optimising the existing detection methods for the specific needs of agricultural UAVs and considers the potential introduction of cutting-edge science and technology in order to develop an efficient, accurate and convenient detection system to meet the growing market demand. © (2025), (INMA Bucharest). Introduction: The current digital twin systems usually have the drawback of high cost and complex technology, and it is necessary to develop a simple solution to reduce the cost and cycle for the development of digital twin systems, especially for small projects or systems with simple structures. Objective: A low-cost patent technology of digital twin system was proposed by taking the motion control and state monitoring system (MCSMS) of pneumatic muscle as an example. Methods: The MCSMS is developed based on the browser/server architecture. The software of 3ds Max and SolidWorks are used to make the virtual model, *** and JavaScript are applied to build the browser side. data of the physical world is collected and processed on the server side firstly, and then is sent to the browser side through HTTP communication protocol to realize data interchange between the browser and server. Results: In the roaming experiment and the experiment of motion control and state monitoring of pneumatic muscle, the MCSMS can work smoothly without obvious delay and has good real-time performance, which can realize the 3D visual monitoring of the pneumatic muscle very well. Conclusion: The experimental results indicate that the proposed method possesses the ability of good feasibility and effectiveness. © 2023 Bentham Science Publishers.

Background: There is a shortage of rehabilitation doctors and treatment equipment for patients with lumbar spondylosis. Therefore, a waist massage instrument (WMI) is designed to help patients alle-viate lumbar pain. Objective: The objective of this study is to design a new WMI with the advantages of simple structure, lightweight, and function of effective force control, and to verify its function of palmar push, palmar press, and palmar vibration based on the on-off control, PID control, and fuzzy-PID control. Methods: Firstly, the movement characteristics of the Chinese massage manipulation are analyzed to clarify the design principle of the massage instrument. Then, a new WMI composed of massage head, vibration exciter, and actuator is designed to simulate the three massage manipulations. Next, the electric control system and control methods of on-off, PID, and fuzzy-PID controllers are introduced to realize the force control of WMI. Finally, the force control experiments of WMI are carried out to verify the function of the palmar press, palmar push, and palmar vibration based on the on-off control, PID control, and fuzzy-PID control, respectively. Results: The experimental results indicate that the proposed WMI can implement the massage manipulations of palmar push, palmar press, and palmar vibration well, and has good force control ability after using fuzzy-PID control. Conclusion: The newly designed WMI is effective in providing palmar push, palmar press, and palmar vibration massage manipulations for patients with lumbar spondylosis, and the fuzzy-PID controller im-proves the force control ability of the instrument. The WMI has the potential to be used as an effective treatment for lumbar pain. © 2023 Bentham Science Publishers.

Traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR) is a crucial technology to realize vehicle autonomous driving and maintain road safety. Misdetection or misclassification of traffic signs can lead to serious traffic accidents. Therefore, it is essential to ensure the correctness of traffic sign detection and recognition systems. However, most existing methods use labeled data, but it isn't easy to obtain labeled data. The metamorphic testing can reduce the dependence on the labeled data, but the current metamorphic relations do not consider the domain characteristics of traffic signs, so it is difficult to effectively detect traffic sign detection and recognition systems faults. To solve the above problems, this paper introduces metamorphic testing to verify traffic sign detection and recognition systems and designs and implements a tool, MTSDR, which provides a series of metamorphic relations in the traffic domain. It can generate many follow-up test images based on these metamorphic relations and automatically performs tests for evaluation, focusing on practical failure situations. The experimental evaluation was carried out on four advanced traffic sign detection and recognition models on open datasets. The results show that MTSDR can generate natural images and find thousands of traffic sign detection and recognition faults. Compared with the previous methods, our method has a higher fault detection capability, and the highest fault detection rate reaches more than 40%. In addition, it finds that retraining the traffic sign detection and recognition models using the images that found the fault can improve the model's performance, reduce its fault, and reduce the fault rate by 11.77% on average.

There is a growing interest to use Global Navigation Satellite system (GNSS) inversed PWV for heavy rainfall prediction. When heavy rainfall occurs, it requires the atmosphere to contain sufficient water vapour and undergo strong upward motion. However, existing models using GNSS-PWV for heavy rainfall prediction have not accounted for the effect of the complex motion of water vapour. In this paper, an hourly heavy rainfall prediction model using sample entropy derived from GNSS-PWV and PSO-SVM is proposed. The sample entropy of GNSS-PWV is used to measure the complexity of the water vapour movement process before heavy rainfall occurs. Meanwhile, combining GNSS-PWV time domain features and co-located meteorological data, the occurrence of hourly heavy rainfall events is predicted by support vector machine optimized with particle swarm. To verify the validity and feasibility of the proposed algorithm, Hong Kong's HKSC station in Sham Shui Po is used for the model to train and test. The result shows that probability of detection, false alarm rate and critical success index of the proposed algorithm in this paper have significantly improved over other heavy rainfall prediction models. © 2024, Aerospace Information research Institute.

In satellite communications, global navigation satellite systems(GNSS) and other important space activities, the value of total electron content (TEC) in the ionosphere directly affects the size of ionospheric delay. Achieving accurate prediction of ionospheric total electron content through modeling can effectively improve the reliability and accuracy of GNSS positioning. Considering the high prediction accuracy of long short-term memory neural network (LSTM) and the fast training speed of gated recurrent unit network (GRU), but it is easy to fall into the local optimum, while the width learning system(BLS) can effectively avoid this drawback. Therefore, this paper proposes a model for predicting the total electron content of the ionosphere, which consists of a broad learning system, an LSTM network and a GRU networks. Six parameters of TEC, geomagnetic index Dst, Kp, Ap, solar activity index F10.7, and hour (HD) are selected as input features from the observed data to predict the variation of the total ionospheric electron content. The results generate prediction maps of the total ionospheric electron content and are compared with empirical models and conventional neural network models at different times and solar activity conditions. The experimental results show that the root mean square error (RMSE) of the prediction results of this BLS-LSTM-GRU model is decreased by 23.07%, 17.48% and 9.46% compared with the IRI-2016, NeQuick and CNN-LSTM prediction models, respectively, with higher prediction accuracy. © 2024, Aerospace Information research Institute.

The zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) obtained by global navigation satellite system (GNSS) atmospheric sounding is a pivotal data source for water vapor monitoring. Meteorological changes in Antarctica play an important role in analysis of the global climate, but factors such as complex climatic conditions can limit the collection of meteorological data needed for ZTD retrieval. Therefore, it is necessary to establish high-precision ZTD models that do not rely on measured meteorological data. The existing global pressure and temperature 3 (GPT3) model has limited ability to capture complex weather variations and cannot obtain high-precision GPT3_ZTD. To address the above issues, this research proposes a high-precision ZTD model through using temporal convolutional network (TCN) for improving the hourly global pressure and temperature 2 (HGPT2) model. The HGTP2 model based on Fourier analysis and the time-segmentation concept can consider the linear trend of climate variations, simultaneously the TCN is introduced to simulate the long-term temporal dependence of HGPT2_ZTD, so as to achieve the goal of obtaining high-precision ZTD without relying on measured meteorological data. The experimental results show that the precision of TCN_ZTD obtained from the proposed model is higher than GPT3_ZTD and HGPT2_ZTD when using the GNSS_ZTD observations obtained from 35 stations in Antarctica as a reference, and the improvement of the model is obvious. © 2024, Aerospace Information research Institute.
