In the era where Web3.0 values data security and privacy, adopting groundbreaking methods to enhance privacy in recommender systems is crucial. Recommender systems need to balance privacy and accuracy, while also having the ability to overcome cold start problems. The Differential Trust Mechanism (DTM) introduced in this paper is such an approach. The DTM provides a unique use of Gaussian distributions in modeling trust relationships within data, offering a novel way to balance recommendation accuracy with user privacy. This mechanism innovatively applies differential privacy principles, using Gaussian noise addition to protect individual user data from inference attacks, while maintaining the integrity and utility of the overall dataset. Unlike traditional anonymization techniques that often compromise data utility or vulnerability to reverse engineering, DTM provides a robust solution by dynamically adjusting privacy levels based on the trustworthiness of data requests. By combining DTM with existing mainstream recommendation algorithms, the prediction accuracy of MAE and RMSE increases by at least 6.60% and 2.69%, respectively. This dual benefit positions DTM as a significant advancement in secure data processing, especially relevant for online businesses and platforms where personalized recommendations are crucial yet privacy concerns are paramount. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Cancer, a global health threat, demands effective diagnostic solutions to combat its impact on public health, particularly for breast, colon, and lung cancers. Early and accurate diagnosis is essential for successful treatment, prompting the rise of Computer-Aided Diagnosis systems as reliable and cost-effective tools. Histopathology, renowned for its precision in cancer imaging, has become pivotal in the diagnostic landscape of breast, colon, and lung cancers. However, while deep learning models have been widely explored in this domain, they often face challenges in generalizing to diverse clinical settings and in efficiently capturing both local and global feature representations, particularly for multi-class tasks. This underscores the need for models that can reduce biases, improve diagnostic accuracy, and minimize error susceptibility in cancer classification tasks. To this end, we introduce ResoMergeNet (RMN), an advanced deep-learning model designed for both multi-class and binary cancer classification using histopathological images of breast, colon, and lung. ResoMergeNet integrates the Resboost mechanism which enhances feature representation, and the ConvmergeNet mechanism which optimizes feature extraction, leading to improved diagnostic accuracy. Comparative evaluations against state-of-the-art models show ResoMergeNet's superior performance. Validated on the LC-25000 and BreakHis (400× and 40× magnifications) datasets, ResoMergeNet demonstrates outstanding performance, achieving perfect scores of 100 % in accuracy, sensitivity, precision, and F1 score for binary classification. For multi-class classification with five classes from the LC25000 dataset, it maintains an impressive 99.96 % across all performance metrics. When applied to the BreakHis dataset, ResoMergeNet achieved 99.87 % accuracy, 99.75 % sensitivity, 99.78 % precision, and 99.77 % F1 score at 400× magnification. Aiming at the problem that the amplitude of load oscillation is not easy to control in the movement process of overhead crane, this paper designs a switching PID control method based on whale optimization algorithm(WOA) to improve the performance of position control and anti-swing control for overhead crane. WOA is used to better adjust the parameters of PID controllers. The switching control is realized by a switching module, which defaults to the output of the Position PID Controller to provide control force for the trolley. When the absolute value of the load swing angle fed back by the crane system exceeds the warning value, the switching module immediately blocks the output of the Position PID Controller, and uses the Angle PID Controller to determine the control force. In addition, through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments under different conditions, the results verify the effectiveness of the WOA based switching control in position control and anti-swing control for overhead crane. The zenith tropospheric delay（ZTD） obtained by global navigation satellite system（GNSS） atmospheric sounding is a pivotal data source for water vapor monitoring. Meteorological changes in Antarctica play an important role in analysis of the global climate, but factors such as complex climatic conditions can limit the collection of meteorological data needed for ZTD retrieval. Therefore, it is necessary to establish high-precision ZTD models that do not rely on measured meteorological data. The existing global pressure and temperature 3（GPT3） model has limited ability to capture complex weather variations and cannot obtain high-precision GPT3TD. To address the above issues, this research proposes a high-precision ZTD model through using temporal convolutional network（TCN） for improving the hourly global pressure and temperature 2（HGPT2） model. The HGTP2 model based on Fourier analysis and the time-segmentation concept can consider the linear trend of climate variations, simultaneously the TCN is introduced to simulate the long-term temporal dependence of HGPT2TD, so as to achieve the goal of obtaining high-precision ZTD without relying on measured meteorological data. The experimental results show that the precision of TCNTD obtained from the proposed model is higher than GPT3TD and HGPT2TD when using the GNSSTD observations obtained from 35 stations in Antarctica as a reference, and the improvement of the model is obvious.

There is a growing interest to use Global Navigation Satellite system(GNSS) inversed PWV for heavy rainfall prediction. When heavy rainfall occurs, it requires the atmosphere to contain sufficient water vapour and undergo strong upward motion. However, existing models using GNSS-PWV for heavy rainfall prediction have not accounted for the effect of the complex motion of water vapour. In this paper, an hourly heavy rainfall prediction model using sample entropy derived from GNSS-PWV and PSO-SVM is *** sample entropy of GNSS-PWV is used to measure the complexity of the water vapour movement process before heavy rainfall occurs. Meanwhile,combining GNSS-PWV time domain features(PWV value, PWV increment,PWV decrement, rate of PWV increment, rate of PWV decrement) and colocated meteorological data, the occurrence of hourly heavy rainfall events is predicted by support vector machine optimized with particle swarm. To verify the validity and feasibility of the proposed algorithm, Hong Kong’s HKSC station in Sham Shui Po is used for the model to train and test. The result shows that probability of detection, false alarm rate and critical success index of the proposed algorithm in this paper have significantly improved over other heavy rainfall prediction models.

In view of the risk of fall for the elderly in the home care environment, a surveillance video display fall detection method of the improved YOLOv5 algorithm is improved, and the Transformer module that increases the human attention mechanism is combined with the CSPDarknet structure of the backbone part of the YOLOv5 algorithm. The system collects video data through the camera, trains and verifies the video data, and then judges the action and posture of the target person. It connects the WIFI module of Orange School to send the action and posture information to the guardian's mobile phone to remind the guardian to timely treat the person who fell down, so as to improve the rescue efficiency. On the basis of improving the algorithm structure, the loss function was improved and conducted repeated training. The experimental results showed that the improved algorithm mAP improved by 2.8%, the F1 score by 2.2%, the number of processing frames per second by 10% during inference, and achieved the fall detection accuracy of 98.6%. © 2024 IEEE.

In satellite communications, global navigation satellite systems(GNSS) and other important space activities, the value of total electron content(TEC)in the ionosphere directly affects the size of ionospheric delay. Achieving accurate prediction of ionospheric total electron content through modeling can effectively improve the reliability and accuracy of GNSS positioning. Considering the high prediction accuracy of long short-term memory neural network(LSTM)and the fast training speed of gated recurrent unit network(GRU), but it is easy to fall into the local optimum, while the width learning system(BLS) can effectively avoid this drawback. Therefore, this paper proposes a model for predicting the total electron content of the ionosphere, which consists of a broad learning system, an LSTM network and a GRU networks. Six parameters of TEC, geomagnetic index Dst, Kp, Ap, solar activity index F10.7, and hour(HD)are selected as input features from the observed data to predict the variation of the total ionospheric electron content. The results generate prediction maps of the total ionospheric electron content and are compared with empirical models and conventional neural network models at different times and solar activity conditions. The experimental results show that the root mean square error(RMSE)of the prediction results of this BLSLSTM-GRU model is decreased by 23.07%,17.48% and 9.46%compared with the IRI-2016, NeQuick and CNN-LSTM prediction models, respectively, with higher prediction accuracy.

As medical insurance continues to grow in size, the losses caused by medical insurance fraud cannot be underestimated. Current data mining and predictive techniques have been applied to analyze and explore the health insurance fraud population. However, previous studies only provide summary results and do not show the details of comparative analysis during the visit, resulting in the inability of auditors to quickly identify anomalous behavior. In this paper, we propose a visual analytics system for interactive medical insurance fraud detection to support the exploration and interpretation of different access processes. We propose a weighted MinDL to improve the accuracy of visit pattern classification in the time-series modeling process, and design a data analysis model and visual analysis view based on medical insurance fraud characteristics to reveal and explore the characteristics of medical insurance fraud groups. We collaborate with related organizations to design and implement an interactive visualization for medical insurance fraud group detection using real Medicare data and expert interviews The system is effective and practical in detecting and analyzing medical insurance fraud syndicates. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

6G-empowered intelligent Transportation systems (ITS) generate large amounts of data through millions of devices and sensors at the terminal and network edge. Edge intelligence advances the frontier of data-driven artificial intelligence (AI) to the network edge, which enables AI applications to better utilize edge data. Broader connectivity, higher device density, and stronger data exchange present challenges for reliable device communication and privacy data protection in 6G-empowered ITS. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an energy-efficient and privacy-preserving edge intelligence framework named EP-EI. EP-EI deploys a deep reinforcement learning-based cluster head selection model at the edge to ensure energy-efficient communication for terminal devices. Meanwhile, EP-EI designs a privacy-aware hierarchical computing framework for terminal-edge-cloud to prevent privacy leakage. Furthermore, the application scenarios, challenges, and future directions of EP-EI are discussed. Finally, simulation experiments in a specific intelligent transportation case study demonstrate that EP-EI can provide energy-efficient and privacy-protecting services. © 2025 IEEE.

As a data-driven science, machine learning requires vast amounts of training data and computational resources. However, for highly privacy-sensitive data, it is crucial to protect the privacy of the data during both the training and utilization of machine learning models. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving machine learning approach using autoencoders and differential privacy mechanisms to safeguard data privacy while minimizing the impact on data availability. Specifically, we augment logistic regression and ResNet18 models with different architectures of autoencoders to perform data encryption? without compromising the machine learning tasks. Additionally, we employ differential privacy mechanisms to introduce gradient perturbations in the encoding part of the autoencoder, enhancing the algorithm’s security and further protecting data privacy. We also design the cosine similarity between the encoded and original data as a metric for evaluating data privacy, considering model performance, privacy budget, and data privacy collectively to balance data availability and privacy. Extensive experiments conducted on MNIST, CIFAR-10, PathMNIST, and BloodMNIST datasets demonstrate that for simple logistic regression models handling easily classifiable datasets, employing simple autoencoder structures can enhance classification accuracy, with significant performance impact after adding differential privacy. For ResNet18, utilizing convolutional autoencoders for data encryption generally has minimal impact on model classification performance and can even improve accuracy in most cases. Adding differential privacy has minor effects on model classification performance. Selecting appropriate model structures and privacy budgets for different usage scenarios can ensure both data availability and privacy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
