In smart substation, the interrelationship among different devices is complex. The information in a smart substation is not transmitted through point to point communication, but through a novel communication network. Existing auxiliary systems for maintenance and inspection in intelligent substation cannot visualize the flow of packets in the implementation of specific function in secondary system. This paper, by analyzing the contents and requirements for maintenance and inspection in intelligent substation, designs a visualized function correlation. The function correlation library is built based on the principle of relay protection and expert experience. This library can show the interrelationship of the packets, when one specific function is triggered during the normal operation of substation, Sugiyama algorithm is used to illustrate the complete process of this function implementation.

The sensing technology of the power system promotes the deep integration of energy network and data information and helps to build a new type of power system with deep integration of digital and system. It can ensure the stable operation of the power grid. RFID sensors are widely used as passive wireless sensors. While they still face the disadvantage of missing data information when the reader is not actively interrogated. In this paper, a shape memory polymer material is introduced and its thermo-mechanical property of deformation recovery above and below the glass transition temperature is exploited to design a temperature threshold sensor. By measuring the backscatter power of the RFID tag, whether the target exceeds the threshold temperature could be determined. This method can record historical information in a non-electric form when the reader is not actively interrogated, facilitating quick problem solving or troubleshooting. In this paper, a prototype of the SMP material was fabricated using 3D printing technology. And several reader-tag temperature threshold detection experiments at different distances were conducted. The results show that the SMP material recovers its deformation near 60 °C in the reader antenna field range. And the backscatter power amplitude of the two tags is significantly flipped. This validates the feasibility of temperature threshold sensors. When electrical equipment malfunctions lead to high temperatures, temperature threshold sensors can detect the malfunction and solve the hidden problem.

Because of non-coherent sampling, Fourier transform when used for the measurement of phase difference is insufficient in terms of the accuracy and real-time. This paper starts with the analysis of the relationship among the phase difference error, the frequency skew and the true phase difference. Then a mean filter algorithm, which can eliminate the phase difference error as far as possible by taking advantage of the symmetry of the function, is proposed. Comparing with traditional Fourier transform based phase difference measurement algorithm, the proposed algorithm can filter out the error well, improving the accuracy of phase difference measurement.

For magnetic energy harvesting systems, power management circuits play a very important role in the system. This paper introduces an energy management circuit for the energy collection system, which can efficiently deposit the collected energy into the load. The energy management circuit is mainly composed of supercapacitor and MCU. The supercapacitor is used as a start-up excitation and energy storage element. A low power MCU is employed to control the synchronous rectifier circuit Three operating modes based on the primary transmission line current are proposed. The system can switch between the three operating modes autonomously. The system is verified through experiments and effectively achieves steady-state operation and efficient energy management.

A rapid warning method for wildfire occurrences along the transmission corridor driven by power system monitoring data

This paper focuses on the problems of frequent wildfire occurrences along the transmission corridor and the lack of accurate and timely monitoring means for early warnings. Furthermore, this paper evaluates the rapid warning method for wildfire occurrences along the transmission corridor driven by power system monitoring data. First, we established the relationship between the historical data of wildfires along the transmission corridor and the operating state information of a power grid based on the Apriori association rule algorithm;the characteristic signals of the transmission line when wildfires occur were mined. Second, based on the characteristics of the time distribution of wildfire occurrences along the transmission corridor, a nonlinear regression model was created to further improve the prediction accuracy. Finally, by combining the characteristic signals and time distribution characteristics, we developed an early warning method. This method not only addresses the challenges faced by meteorological satellite remote sensors caused by the weather, the long transit time interval, and the high cost of adding sensors, but it also realizes the remote and rapid early warning of wildfires along the transmission corridor. Finally, a case study of practical data of a certain area in southwest China is used to verify the proposed method. The results show the high accuracy and timeliness of the proposed method.

With the widespread application of sensors nodes in power equipment, providing a stable energy supply for these sensors has become a significant challenge. Traditional batterypowered solutions are costly and difficult to install. The development of energy harvesting technology offers a new technical approach to address this challenge. This paper mainly investigates how to enhance the energy harvesting power of Magnetic Field Energy Harvesters (MEH) under conditions where the magnetic field around power equipment is limited. A dynamic control method is proposed to improve the energy harvesting power of MEH. The fundamental idea of dynamic control is to precisely control the MOSFETs in the rectifier, dynamically adjusting the switching times of the energy harvesting interval to be symmetric around the peak current of the primary side, thereby significantly enhancing harvesting efficiency. This method is particularly applicable when the magnetic core enters the soft saturation region, causing the energy harvesting interval to be less than T/2. Experimental results show that under constant voltage load, dynamic control effectively adjusts the energy harvesting interval, maximizing the current extracted during this interval, thereby effectively increasing energy harvesting power. Compared to passive rectification, active rectification under dynamic control increases the energy harvesting power by 76%, and the power factor of active rectification is 1.7 times that of passive rectification. The research findings provide important theoretical support and practical significance for the application of magnetic field energy harvesting technology in sensor nodes.

With the inertia improvement ability, Grid-forming Converter (GFC) can be implemented in large-scale power system to improve instability issues. Although with these advantages, increasing connections of the distributed renewable resource also gives a chance of attack which can be accomplished via supervisory control and data acquisition system by controlling their converters in remote/physical ways. Thus, the objective of this paper is to solve the False Data Injection Attack (FDIA) instability of the GFC renewable integrated system which is barely studied in these years. The mechanism of the adverse effect of attacks on GFC is analyzed by combining its small signal model with the FDIA model. In advance, a novel control strategy considering the power system’s spatial structural features and temporal consistency is proposed to defend against FDIA based on dynamic state estimation. Meanwhile, the adaptive adjustment factor and singular value decomposition are introduced into an improved cubature Kalman filter to deal with the data mutation and matrix error caused by attacks. The simulation on IEEE 30-bus system and full real-time experiment on RT-lab verification test platform are carried out, and the results show that the proposed voltage control strategy has a superior performance to mitigate the impact of FDIA. © 2023, The Authors. In the context of carbon neutrality, the power industry is becoming the main battlefield of carbon emission reduction. However, the low-carbon transformation of energy structure is a complex long-term task, it needs to be analyzed in combination with the actual situation. This paper is based on the microgrid in the grid connection mode, considering microgrid power output and carbon emission constraints. An optimal model is proposed to reduce carbon emission cost, the optimal economic operation, and build a low-carbon scheduling model of a microgrid system. In this paper, the improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to solve the problem. Finally, the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the model and the superiority of the improved algorithm.

When a high proportion of renewable energy is connected to the grid, the net load fluctuation can be suppressed by configuring energy storage. However, the current cost of energy storage is high. This paper proposes a bi-level optimization model that takes into account the dynamic allocation of shared energy storage (SES) capacity in response to electric load demand. The upper-layer objective function adopts EO optimization algorithm, which is to maximize the income of the shared energy storage operator (SESO). The lower-layer multi-objective function is to minimize the sum of the operating cost and the net load mean square error of multiple microgrids, which can be classified as the mixed integer linear programming problem. Then, the solution flow of the algorithm is given. Finally, under the constraints of the hierarchical optimization-based model, solving the problem by the CPLEX solver on the MATlab platform. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can allocate optimal capacity and reduce operating costs for microgrids. Simultaneously, this method increases the revenue of SESO and promotes the consumption of renewable energy.

With a high proportion of new energy and power electronic equipment connected to the modern power system, a new type of subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) is triggered, which affects the safe and stable operation of the system. Accurate analysis and identification of the SSO source becomes the key to studying this problem. This article presents a novel method to analyze SSOs. First, multisynchrosqueezing transform is applied to the signal to get the concentrated time-frequency analysis results. Then, the ridge tracking method is utilized to identify and reconstruct the subsynchronous component signals. The method of dissipating energy flow is applied to locate the source and sink of the SSO in the subsynchronous component signals. The performances of the proposed method are verified using electromagnetic transient simulations in a three-wind farms system and a modified IEEE 10-generator 39-bus New England power system.
