In smart substation, the interrelationship among different devices is complex. The information in a smart substation is not transmitted through point to point communication, but through a novel communication network. Existing auxiliary systems for maintenance and inspection in intelligent substation cannot visualize the flow of packets in the implementation of specific function in secondary system. This paper, by analyzing the contents and requirements for maintenance and inspection in intelligent substation, designs a visualized function correlation. The function correlation library is built based on the principle of relay protection and expert experience. This library can show the interrelationship of the packets, when one specific function is triggered during the normal operation of substation, Sugiyama algorithm is used to illustrate the complete process of this function implementation. © 2015 IEEE.

With the development of smart substations, much attention has been focused on the transient magnetic field (TMF) generated during switching operation in substations. In order to study the TMF, a portable integrated system based on Anisotropic Magneto-resistive (AMR) sensor has been developed. The system mainly consists of magnetic probe, sampling card, and industrial computer. A GPS has also been brought in to stamp the TMF events time. This system can record TMF across a bandwidth from DC to 5MHz and a dynamic range from 20mGs to 6Gs for at least 50ms continuously. laboratory tests show that the system linearity is greater than 97%, the measuring error is less than 3% and the verified rising time of input magnetic field reaches 6.4μs. Field applications are presented at last, they show that the TMF is very complex but regular to some extent, and the stable magnetic fields are in conformity with operation theory. In conclusion, the proposed system is high sensitivity, wide dynamic and relatively wide bandwidth, and it is qualified to most applications in substations. © 2013 IEEE.

As the rapid development MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) packaging technology and magnetoresistance material technology, MR (magnetoresistive) sensors based on magnetoresistance effect which can carry out point measurement of magnetic field may change the measurement techniques in power systems. The currently available fault location of overhead transmission line approaches are mainly based on traveling-wave technique and impedance-based measurement technique. The novel approach based on non-contact measurement of magnetic field is advantageous over traditional approaches in that it is independent of the distributed line parameters and has a location error smaller than one span. In this paper, after a brief reviewing of the whole system architecture, design of a sensor prototype and the associated monitoring software are presented, and tests are performed to verify the functionalities of the designed system. The sensor is developed based on a 3-D AMR (anisotropic magnetoresistance) sensor and the software supports GIS interface, making the fault location intuitively clear and convenient. © 2013 IEEE.

Currently, a large number of community integrated energy systems operate independently and lack coordination and cooperation with each other. On the whole, the complementary coupling potential between energy production and consumption has not been fully explored, which is not conducive to the efficient utilization of clean energy. To solve the above problem, this paper proposes an optimal scheduling model of community integrated energy system considering integrated demand response and carbon tax. Moreover, based on cooperative game theory, this paper adopts the Sharpley value to achieve fair and reasonable distribution of cooperation profits. The case study results indicate that the energy sharing model proposed in this article can achieve better economic benefits. © 2023 IEEE.

Smart Grid is aimed to incorporate monitoring, analysis, control and communication capabilities to improve reliability and energy efficiency. However, currently there is no enough sensor to provide information interface for the implementation of smart grid. Therefore, new types of sensors should be deployed to assist the implementation of smart grid. This paper proposes a novel scheme, in which new type of fiber optic sensors (as compared with traditional Farady effect based fiber optic sensor used in power system instrumentation) are used to provide multiple types of information for smart grid. The new Fiber Gragg Gratting (FBG) is advantageous in that it can collect variant types of information and can form a sensor network. A transmission line monitoring system with distributed fiber optic senor setwork is designed, and the procedures to evaluate the status of the overhead transmission line (such as sag, vibration, and galloping) are proposed. A testing setup is built at laboratory, and it is shown that the FBG sensor is capable of obtaining the comprehensive information for evaluating the status of the overhead transmission line. ©2010 IEEE.

The problem of diagnosing the actuator faults and sensor faults of linear system with the methods of fault detection and isolation (FDI) technology and optimal fault-tolerant observers is addressed. The measurable outputs used to reconstruct states for the system carry the fault information, which may affect the performance of the system state estimation. In this paper, by comparing the measurable outputs, reliable outputs without fault is selected as the input of the reconstructed system. Then reduced order optimal fault-tolerant observers are used to track the system states. Based on the FDI technology, residual observers are designed to achieve the fault detection for the linear system. Case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of FDI technology and optimal fault-tolerant observers method used in fault detection and isolation. © 2010 IEEE.

This experimental investigation is focused to assess a Tunnel Magneto-Resistive (TMR) and Anisotropic Magneto-Resistive (AMR) sensor for power system magnetic field measurement applications as in current sensing, transmission line monitoring, detection and classification of Transient Magnetic Field (TMF) interference in substations. For measurement applications, AMR sensors have the limitations of low field range up to ±6 Gauss impractical for high magnetic field measurements, disorientation in sensitivity at exposure to field over ±20 Gauss recurrent in outdoor applications and high power consumption not appealing for portable devices. Thus, a complete testing system is established to identify if TMR sensors are a superior candidate for our application domain. For this, both of the sensors were exposed to uniform and transient magnetic field. Experimentation with identical conditioning circuitry confirms the superior performance of TMR sensor over AMR sensor in terms of twice the sensitivity, 200 times reduced power consumption and 5 times more field range. Additionally, in a TMF event, AMR sensor response depicts a time lag of 15 microseconds whereas TMR sensor only lags by 10 nanoseconds. Magnetic fields above field range of AMR sensor disorient the sensor until recalibrated;to cater for this a practical recalibration pulse blinds the sensor for 4 milliseconds once initiated. © 2015 IEEE.

In the context of carbon neutrality, the power industry is becoming the main battlefield of carbon emission reduction. However, the low-carbon transformation of energy structure is a complex long-term task, it needs to be analyzed in combination with the actual situation. This paper is based on the microgrid in the grid connection mode, considering microgrid power output and carbon emission constraints. An optimal model is proposed to reduce carbon emission cost, the optimal economic operation, and build a low-carbon scheduling model of a microgrid system. In this paper, the improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to solve the problem. Finally, the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the model and the superiority of the improved algorithm. © 2022 IEEE.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau contains the most abundant clean energy such as hydropower, wind and solar in the world. However, it is very difficult to add overhead transmission lines on the ground due to the complex geographical environment. The large-capacity tunnel cables which is less affected by the earth surface environment, may play an important role on the energy transmission in such area. Based on the cable thermal circuit model, the electrical-magnetic-thermal multiphysics coupling of the cable is modeled in COMSOL Multiphysics. The parameter changes of the material during the temperature rising process, the influence of different ventilation conditions and different current-carrying capacities on the changes of the cable temperature field are quantitatively analyzed. The results show that the proposed model is valid in certain conditions. The research on the current carrying capacity and thermal effect of tunnel cables is of great significance for the transportation and consumption of large-scale clean energy resources. © 2022 IEEE.

When a high proportion of renewable energy is connected to the grid, the net load fluctuation can be suppressed by configuring energy storage. However, the current cost of energy storage is high. This paper proposes a bi-level optimization model that takes into account the dynamic allocation of shared energy storage (SES) capacity in response to electric load demand. The upper-layer objective function adopts EO optimization algorithm, which is to maximize the income of the shared energy storage operator (SESO). The lower-layer multi-objective function is to minimize the sum of the operating cost and the net load mean square error of multiple microgrids, which can be classified as the mixed integer linear programming problem. Then, the solution flow of the algorithm is given. Finally, under the constraints of the hierarchical optimization-based model, solving the problem by the CPLEX solver on the MATlab platform. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can allocate optimal capacity and reduce operating costs for microgrids. Simultaneously, this method increases the revenue of SESO and promotes the consumption of renewable energy. © 2022 IEEE.
