In the field of natural language processing, Knowledge Base Question Answering (KBQA) is a challenging task that involves accurately retrieving answers from structured knowledge. Existing methods often face issues when generating query statements using LLMs, as the knowledge introduced may be imprecise and the models themselves may exhibit hallucination problems, leading to low accuracy, particularly when dealing with complex questions. To address these challenges, we introduce a novel semantic parsing approach called RGR-KBQA, which adopts a Retrieve-Generate-Retrieve framework. The first retrieval step introduces factual knowledge from a knowledge graph to enhance the semantic understanding capabilities of LLMs, thereby improving generation accuracy of logical form. The second step uses a fine-tuned model to generate the logical form, and the final step involves unsupervised relation and entity retrieval to further enhance generation accuracy. These two retrieval steps help alleviate the hallucination problems inherent in LLMs. Experimental results show that RGR-KBQA demonstrate promising performance on CWQ and WebQSP datasets. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

In this work, we propose a small-size and low-cost phase shifter based on defective microstrip structure (DMS) technique, with a modified reconfigurable unit cell (MRDMS) for WLAN applications at 5.2 GHz. The phase shifter is made up of an MRDMS unit, created by etching slots on a simple microstrip line with an outline of three bridges. To further increase the phase shift, a T-shaped slot is introduced in the central bridge and PIN diodes on the edges of the outer bridges are used. By switching the diodes on and off, the MRDMS unit cell is capable of operating in a variety of different modes to give a phase shift of 37.71° at 5.2 GHz. Additionally, MRDMS unit cells are cascaded for higher phase shift as required. Cascaded two- and four-cell phase shifters were designed and simulated in HFSS and a parametric study on various parameters was conducted to show the detailed operating properties of the proposed phase shifter. Compared to previously reported research, the present study shows that two cascaded phase shifters introduce 75.08° phase shifts and 151.75°, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the maximum phase shift obtained by a phase shifter based on MRDMS. © 2023 IEEE.

A large number of metaheuristics have been proposed and shown high performance in solving complex optimization problems. While most variation operators in existing metaheuristics are empirically designed,new operators are automatically designed in this work,which are expected to be search space independent and thus exhibit robust performance on different *** work first investigates the influence of translation invariance, scale invariance, and rotation invariance on the search behavior and performance of some representative operators. This work then deduces the generic form of translation, scale, and rotation invariant operators, and proposes a principled approach for the automated design of operators, which searches for high-performance operators based on the deduced generic form. The experimental results demonstrate that the operators generated by the proposed approach outperform state-of-the-art ones on a variety of problems with complex landscapes and up to 1000decision variables.

Hyperautomation acts as a real digital transformation with the support of several cutting-edge cognitive computation methods that include robotic process automation, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, and other emerging ones, which is conducive to processing complex industrial processes via extending the range of various data-driven cognitive decision-making algorithms. The study of air quality evaluations (AQE) plays a significant role in ensuring healthy atmospheric environments. In view of the objective existence of uncertainties, AQE can be modeled and addressed by a typical data-driven automated decision-making problem, and hyperautomation can provide a reasonable solution via associating with a variety of techniques. This article explores hyperautomation for AQE via evidential three-way large-scale group decision-making (LSGDM) in an intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) setting. First, the notion of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) is incorporated into the paradigm of multi-granularity (MG) three-way decisions (TWD), and the model of adjustable MG IF probabilistic rough sets (PRSs) is developed. Second, an IF clustering analysis with the improved technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method is conducted to affirm representative members within a decision group. Third, a novel IF LSGDM method is built via adjustable MG IF PRSs and the evidence reasoning (ER) method. Finally, a case study in the setting of AQE is studied by using the presented evidential three-way LSGDM method. Corresponding experimental analyses are carried out for illustrating the efficiency of hyperautomation for AQE. In general, the proposed method improves the performance of information fusion by virtue of adjustable MG IF PRSs, and the TOPSIS method avoids the influence of subjective factors on decision results. Learning Probabilistic Coordinate Fields for Robust Correspondences

We introduce Probabilistic Coordinate Fields (PCFs), a novel geometric-invariant coordinate representation for image correspondence problems. In contrast to standard Cartesian coordinates, PCFs encode coordinates in correspondence-specific barycentric coordinate systems (BCS) with affine invariance. To know when and where to trust the encoded coordinates, we implement PCFs in a probabilistic network termed PCF-Net, which parameterizes the distribution of coordinate fields as Gaussian mixture models. By jointly optimizing coordinate fields and their confidence conditioned on dense flows, PCF-Net can work with various feature descriptors when quantifying the reliability of PCFs by confidence maps. An interesting observation of this work is that the learned confidence map converges to geometrically coherent and semantically consistent regions, which facilitates robust coordinate representation. By delivering the confident coordinates to keypoint/feature descriptors, we show that PCF-Net can be used as a plug-in to existing correspondence-dependent approaches. Extensive experiments on both indoor and outdoor datasets suggest that accurate geometric invariant coordinates help to achieve the state of the art in several correspondence problems, such as sparse feature matching, dense image registration, camera pose estimation, and consistency filtering. Further, the interpretable confidence map predicted by PCF-Net can also be leveraged to other novel applications from texture transfer to multi-homography classification. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

Cancers have emerged as a significant concern due to their impact on public health and society. The examination and interpretation of tissue sections stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) play a crucial role in disease assessment, particularly in cases like gastric cancer. Microsatellite instability (MSI) is suggested to contribute to the carcinogenesis of specific gastrointestinal tumors. However, due to the nonspecific morphology observed in H&E-stained tissue sections, MSI determination often requires costly evaluations through various molecular studies and immunohistochemistry methods in specialized molecular pathology laboratories. Despite the high cost, international guidelines recommend MSI testing for gastrointestinal cancers. Thus, there is a pressing need for a new diagnostic modality with lower costs and widespread applicability for MSI detection. This study aims to detect MSI directly from H&E histology slides in gastric cancer, providing a cost-effective alternative. The performance of well-known deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and a proposed architecture are compared. Medical image datasets are typically smaller than benchmark datasets like ImageNet, necessitating the use of off-the-shelf DCNN architectures developed for large datasets through techniques such as transfer learning. Designing an architecture proportional to a custom dataset can be tedious and may not yield desirable results. In this work, we propose an automatic method to extract a lightweight and efficient architecture from a given heavy architecture (e.g., well-known off-the-shelf DCNNs) proportional to a specific dataset. To predict MSI instability, we extracted the MicroNet architecture from the Xception network using the proposed method and compared its performance with other well-known architectures. EEG reveals human brain activities for emotion and becomes an important aspect of affective computing. In this study, we developed a novel approach, namely DAM-GAT, which incorporated a dual-branch attention module (DAM) into a graph attention network (GAT) for EEG-based emotion recognition. This method used the GAT to capture the local features of emotional EEG signals. To enhance the important EEG features for emotion recognition, the proposed method also included a DAM that calculated weights considering both channel and frequency information. Additionally, the relationship between EEG channels was determined using the phase-locking value (PLV) connectivity of corresponding EEG signals. Based on the SEED datasets, the proposed approach provided an accuracy of up to 94.63% for emotion recognition, demonstrating its impressive performance compared with other existing methods. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents an ultra-low quiescent current output-capacitorless low dropout regulator (OCL-LDO) with fast transient response. We design a rail-to-rail error amplifier with improved adaptive biasing, which provides a limited bias current at heavy load for better load regulation. The buffer with adaptive biasing and almost zero input-output voltage shift and embedded body-bias, combines the error amplifier and the gate of MP. The proposed LDO is designed in a 65-nm CMOS process. Simulation result shows that the proposed LDO consumes a quiescent current of only 23 nA at a supply voltage of 0.8 V. The voltage undershoot is 98 mV during a 20-mA maximum load transient. And we obtain a FOMT of 0.00023 ps. © 2023 IEEE.

DPDR: A Novel Machine Learning Method for the Decision Process for Dimensionality Reduction

This paper discusses the critical decision process of extracting or selecting the features in a supervised learning context. It is often confusing to find a suitable method to reduce dimensionality. There are pros and cons to deciding between a feature selection and feature extraction according to the data’s nature and the user’s preferences. Indeed, the user may want to emphasize the results toward integrity or interpretability and a specific data resolution. This paper proposes a new method to choose the best dimensionality reduction method in a supervised learning context. It also helps to drop or reconstruct the features until a target resolution is reached. This target resolution can be user defined, or it can be automatically defined by the method. The method applies a regression or a classification, evaluates the results, and gives a diagnosis about the best dimensionality reduction process in this specific supervised learning context. The main algorithms used are the random forest algorithms, the principal component analysis algorithm, and the multilayer perceptron neural network algorithm. Six use cases are presented, and every one is based on some well-known technique to generate synthetic data. This research also discusses each choice that can be made in the process, aiming to clarify the issues about the entire decision process of selecting or extracting the features. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
