Simultaneous exploitation of task and data parallelism provides significant benefits for many applications. The basic approach for exploiting task and data parallelism is to use a task graph representation (Macro Dataflow Graph) for programs to decide on the degree of data parallelism to be used for each task (allocation) and an execution order for the tasks (scheduling). Previously, we presented a two step approach for allocation and scheduling by considering the two steps to be independent of each other. In this paper, we present a new simultaneous approach which uses constraints to model the scheduler during allocation. The new simultaneous approach provides significant benefits over our earlier approach for the benchmark task graphs that we have considered.

In this article, we study the H ∞ control problem for systems with sector bound nonlinearities. A natural candidate for the energy function is given based on stability analysis results of Lur’e systems. Sufficient conditions are derived in terms of algebraic matrix inequalities, which are much simpler to solve than the general Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs inequalities. A suboptimal control law is given. Comparison between the results in this paper and some existing results on robust H ∞ control for linear systems is made. The necessary and sufficient condition obtained by using linear robust design with the sector bound nonlinearities treated as uncertainties in the linear system is shown to be implied by one of the conditions we obtain with some special choice of a design parameter p . The design of a micropower op amp suitable for biomedical applications is presented. A 1-V battery is used for powering the circuit. The quiescent power consumption is under 300 mu A. Current boosting is employed to achieve a maximal output swing very close to the power supply rails for low impedance loads. The input stage consists of p-n-p transistors in differential configuration. The gain stage is a common emitter amplifier with n-p-n transistors. The output stage is a class AB amplifier with both n-p-n and p-n-p transistors driven by unique current amplifiers.< >
