In developing nations that are densely populated, the need for a secure centralized portal for tracking infant inoculation and keeping a record of the same is necessary to increase the life expectancy rate of the nation. The paper proposes an architectural model of an infant inoculation tracking system that will eliminate all the discrepancies in the existing system. Eventually, it would help the government bodies, medical institutions, and primarily the parents to keep a paperless digital record of the procured and scheduled vaccines. The proposed system focuses on generating unique QR Codes for all the infants related to the registered parent. © 2022 IEEE.

Genes act as the blueprint for regulating all activities of a living system. Genes produce proteins, which in turn, sit on the promoter regions of other genes to regulate their activity. Thus, a gene regulatory network is formed. This network is critical in disclosing the various mysteries in the operations of living systems. Often it is very difficult to find these networks in the Wet Lab. As a result, various computational approaches have been used to reconstruct these networks from gene ex-pression data. The techniques primarily used for this purpose include Bayesian networks, Boolean networks, recurrent neural networks, S-systems, and mutual information based methods. The contemporary literature indicates that these techniques often fail to reliably reconstruct real-life networks. In this paper, we have proposed a new technique based on a modified recurrent neural network strategy that is augmented by mutual information. The proposed methodology has been implemented on an 8-gene network of Escherichia coli and a lO-gene network, which have been extensively used by other researchers. The experimental results indicate that the proposed technique achieves satisfactory results when compared to other such techniques developed by contemporary researchers. © 2024 IEEE.

The proposed application is designed for visually impaired people consists of three components which are face recognition with emotion, obstacle identification through distance measurement, extract and convey critical information like text, labels, and currency details. Most works reported in the literature depends on the availability of specific hardware. The transportation industry is taking a giant leap forward towards a dependable, carbon-neutral future thanks to electric vehicles (EVs). The growing number of electric vehicles on the road is putting a strain on power networks and electrical grids caused by dispersed energy resources, particularly the EVI's demands for charging and discharging. Without proper coordination of charging and discharging, the already overburdened power distribution system would struggle to handle the large number of electric vehicles on the road. To get more people to use scheduling programs, electric vehicle owners can use dynamic pricing, a kind of demand response. Studying the timing of electric vehicle charging and discharging as well as its dynamic pricing model is, hence, crucial. There has been a lot of study on scheduling and demand forecasting models for electric vehicle charging that employ artificial intelligence, with many academics claiming that AI approaches outperform more traditional optimization techniques. The Diversified Grid Optimization Model (DGOM) is a novel method for optimizing charging facilities that aims to provide fast and efficient charging. To test its efficacy, it is cross-validated with the Dynamic Vehicle Charging Model (DVCM), a traditional charging scheme. The investigations pertaining to electric vehicle charging and discharging are categorized into scheduling, pricing, and forecasting in this paper's experimental analysis. This work finds the missing pieces of the puzzle when it comes to dynamic pricing models and EV discharge scheduling by establishing the connection between forecasting, scheduling, and pricing mechanisms. © 2024 IEEE.

Soft biometric traits (e.g., gender, age, etc. can characterize very relevant personal information. The hand-based traits are studied for traditional/hard biometric recognition for diverse applications. However, little attention is focused to tackle soft biometrics using hand images. In this paper, human gender classification is addressed using the frontal and dorsal hand images of a human. A new hand dataset is created at the Jadavpur University, India denoted as JU-HD for experiments. It represents significant posture variations in an uncontrolled laboratory environment. Sample hand images of 57 persons are collected to incorporate more user-flexibility in posing the hands that incur additional challenges to discriminate the person’s gender. Five backbone CNNs are used to develop a deep model for gender classification. The method achieves 90.49% accuracy on JU-HD using Inception-v3. Also, improved gender classification accuracy is achieved on 11k hands dataset (Easy-Chair Pre-print: [27].). © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A Unified Domain Transfer Framework for Image Classification

Deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have demonstrated notable performance in numerous tasks in the last several years, viz. image classification, object detection, image captioning, semantic segmentation, etc. However, these performances are often achieved on large amounts of labeled data, which can be costly and time- consuming to acquire. To address this challenge, domain adaptation techniques have been developed to leverage labeled data from a domain to apply in a related but different domain where labeled data is scarce. In this paper, we propose a unified domain transfer framework that integrates state-of-the- art(SOTA) CNNs and vision transformer models with various loss functions, including classification, entropy, and first and second-order domain adaptation losses. Additionally, we have introduced two novel domain adaptation datasets, Fruit-20 and Underwater Animal-20, to evaluate the proposed framework. Through rigorous experimentation, we demonstrate that our framework effectively mitigates domain shifts to provide a comprehensive solution for domain adaptation challenges. © 2024, The Authors. The majority of individuals who are diagnosed with malignant brain tumors do not survive, despite recent developments in the methods of neurosurgery and treatment. The diagnosis of high-grade gliomas at an earlier stage is still challenging. In recent years, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has emerged as one of the most useful research methods for studying the human brain. An efficient MRI brain image classification (MBIC) system is developed in this work to predict abnormality in brain at an earlier stage. At first, the MRI images are represented in stationary wavelet domain. The truncated Singular Value Decomposition (t-SVD), a linear dimensionality algorithm is used for reducing the feature vector obtained from stationary wavelets. Then, Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) is employed for the classification of MRI images from REpository of Molecular BRAin Neoplasia DaTa (REMBRANDT) database. Results proved that the proposed MBIC system achieves 98.8% overall accuracy with 98.6% sensitivity and 99% specificity. © 2023 IEEE.

Artificial Intelligence(AI) has become a global plat-form that allows objects in IoT to Interact and perform computations. The wide range of application areas of IoT are Smart Cities, Smart grids, Smart Supply chain and Ambient Assisted Living(AAL). These applications have challenges like tolerance to uncertainty,adaptiveness to the changing environment and improved trust among users. Thus, machine learning algorithms improve the performance of smart objects in various environment. The AAL environment deploys heterogeneous devices and sensors to capture various activities carried out through the daily by the individuals who resides in the smart home. In this work, an ensemble method using k-Nearest Neighbor(KNN), Decision Tree(DT) and Logistic Regression(LR)is proposed by investigating the performance of existing conventional supervised machine learning algorithms and selecting best model by considering the sensors features and improves the performance metrics. The work is evaluated using the benchmark ARAS (Activity Recognition with Ambient Sensing) dataset. The results are analysed using different parameters. The comparative analysis show that the proposed ensemble method gives accuracy of 76.28%. © 2022 IEEE.

Traditional power system is facing challenges demanding new operational requirements to meet targets of Net Zero Emissions by 2050. Aggregators are playing progressively important role in the demand response (DR) electricity market but are often riddled with deep level of market monopoly and lack of transparency/secrecy. Emerging real-time information technology (IT) applications and novel modelling of digital twins (DT) of individual electricity assets are challenging this position by promising improvements and openness that allows TSO direct access to available demand side flexibility. Additionally, DT technologies are facilitating how demand response services are delivered to end-users by allowing individual assets participation at the atomic level. In this study, the application potentials of assets’ DT in participating in the demand response electricity market was examined. Again, an overview of DT applications for DR was conducted. The novelty of this study is highlighted in development of new approach that facilitates individual end-user assets’ contribution to demand response efforts. The research identifies key useful questions that might serve as inspiration for stakeholders and policy-makers to further close existing gaps in the field of DT, smart-grid and demand response. © 2023 European Union.
