Computer-aided skin lesion segmentation with high precision is crucial to diagnose skin cancers in the early stage. However, the lack of pixel-level labels makes the skin lesion segmentation tasks challenging. To tackle this problem, a new weakly-supervised skin lesion segmentation network with self-attentions named SLSNet is proposed. SLSNet contains two modules and uses image-level labels as supervision information. One module named Intra-image Self-attention Seed Expansion (ISE) digs intra-image self-attentions with an expansion loss and a confidence loss to expand seed areas. The other module named Inter-image Affinity-based Noise Suppression (IAS) suppresses the noise pixels in attention maps via inter-image correlations. Extensive experiments conducted on ISIC-2017 dataset show that SLSNet achieves relatively high performance while reducing human labeling efforts. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

Multimodal networks that juxtapose visual and linguistic modalities are currently widely adopted for solving vision-and-language tasks. They perform well in simple and intu-itive tasks, but are prone to mistakes in tasks involving latent or implicit details, due to the difficulty of capturing crucial but imperceptible visual signals in the real world. Perception errors lead to nonsensical results, but can be corrected by commonsense knowledge. To this end, we combine visual perception and linguistic commonsense to solve the challenging daily events causality reasoning task. We propose a novel Object-Aware Reasoning Network to focus on object inter-action while ignoring distracting information to refine visual perception. Further, a language branch with an independent prediction head is supervised to learn causality commonsense to help correct obvious perception errors, resulting in more plausible conclusions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves new state-of-the-art results on Vis-Causal dataset. © 2022 IEEE.

The scale of software systems is becoming more and more complex, and the traditional software engineering evaluation methods are only limited to the structural characteristics of software systems, but lack the understanding of the operational characteristics. In this paper, we propose a method to obtain software internal operation path information based on complex network simulation, firstly, we extract the code information of the target software to obtain the complex network model of the software system, and then we propose an execution simulation method to obtain the control flow path and a parameter association simulation method to obtain the data flow relationship, and the two are combined to obtain more complete software operation path information. The experiment proves that the method can monitor the running status of the program in real time and reflect the real running situation of the software, which is important for the maintenance of the software. © 2022 IEEE.

Code-graph based software defect prediction methods have become a research focus in SDP field. Among them, Code Property Graph is used as a form of data representation for code defects due to its ability to characterize the structural features and dependencies of defect codes. However, since the coarse granularity of Code Property Graph, redundant information which is not related to defects often attached to the characterization of software defects. Thus, it is a problem to be solved in how to locate software defects at a finer granularity in Code Property Graph. Static analysis is a technique for identifying software defects using set defect rules, and there are many proven static analysis tools in the industry. In this paper, we propose a method for locating specific types of defects in the Code Property Graph based on the result of static analysis tool. Experiments show that the location method based on static analysis results can effectively predict the location of specific defect types in real software program. © 2022 IEEE.

software Code Quality Measurement is a systematic subject with a long history and rich theory. Since the 1960s, a large number of academic research on software code quality measurement methods have been generated. Many scholars have proposed software code quality measurement indicators and measurement methods, and given the measurement trend of evaluation indicators, and proposed a model to measure software quality. However, there are still some blanks in the quantitative evaluation of software code quality evaluation index. The software code quality measurement system is not complete enough to cover all aspects of software code quality from multiple perspectives. In addition, most studies have measured software code quality based on code inspection or code review, which has some limitations. This paper puts forward a software code quality evaluation system based on software network. On this basis, this paper proposes a quantitative measurement method of code quality evaluation indicators based on data mining. It provides a new idea for software quality evaluation or code quality evaluation. © 2022 IEEE.

With the surge in the number of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites, continuous research has emerged on using satellite data to train artificial intelligence models. On one hand, traditional centralized training on the ground is not feasible due to privacy concerns and limited bandwidth for downloading raw satellite data. On the other hand, due to the limited energy and computational capability of satellites, training directly on satellites suffers from prolonged latency, especially for large models. To alleviate these issues, we propose a novel satellite-ground collaborative federated fine-tuning architecture, where ground stations (GSs) and satellites collaboratively train a global model without the need for data downloads. In this proposed architecture, satellites serve as edge devices and the ground server serves as a coordinator. However, the short satellite-ground communication windows caused by the high mobility of satellites and the substantial intra-orbit data transmission bring special challenges to the transmission process of federated edge learning. To tackle these challenges, we carefully design the satellite-ground collaborative fine-tuning architecture and utilize an optimized ring all-reduce algorithm and network flow algorithm to enhance the intra-orbit and ground-satellite transmissions, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed architecture significantly reduces the training time by 40% compared to training solely on satellite. © 2024 IEEE.

Pressure-stabilized electride Li10Si with superconducting and superionic behavior

Electrides have attracted increasing interest due to their diversely physical properties, including low work function, high catalytic activity, as well as potential superconductivity. In this work, using first-principles crystal structure prediction method in combination with first-principles calculations, we uncovered seven thermodynamically stable electrides in the electron-rich Li-Si system at a pressure range of 25–100 GPa, namely C2/cLi5Si, CmcmLi6Si, P21/mLi7Si, ImmaLi7Si, C2/cLi8Si, CmcmLi9Si, and I222Li10Si. Among these predicted structures, five of them are superconductor. In particular, the superconducting critical temperature Tc of I222Li10Si was estimated to be approximately 15 K at 95 GPa. Our in-depth analysis shows that this high superconductivity is attributed to the strong coupling between the Li-p electrons and the Li-dominated phonon softening at low frequencies. Additionally, Li10Si undergoes a phase transition from solid state to superionic state at 60 GPa and 850 K, where Si atoms remain fixed to form the lattice, allowing for the diffusion of Li atoms within the interstitial position. Our results reveal the emergence of two distinct dynamic states of superconducting and superionic in this particular system, and the further experimental studies are thus stimulated.

Vulnerabilities are disclosed with corresponding patches so that users can remediate them in time. However, there are instances where patches are not released with the disclosed vulnerabilities, causing hidden dangers, especially if dependent software remains uninformed about the affected code repository. Hence, it is crucial to automatically locate security patches for disclosed vulnerabilities among a multitude of commits. Despite the promising performance of existing learning-based localization approaches, they still suffer from the following limitations: (1) They cannot perform well in data scarcity scenarios. Most neural models require extensive datasets to capture the semantic correlations between the vulnerability description and code commits, while the number of disclosed vulnerabilities with patches is limited. (2) They struggle to capture the deep semantic correlations between the vulnerability description and code commits due to inherent differences in semantics and characters between code changes and commit messages. It is difficult to use one model to capture the semantic correlations between vulnerability descriptions and code commits. To mitigate these two limitations, in this paper, we propose a novel security patch localization approach named Prom VPat, which utilizes the dual prompt tuning channel to capture the semantic correlation between vulnerability descriptions and commits, especially in data scarcity (i.e., few-shot) scenarios. We first input the commit message and code changes with the vulnerability description into the prompt generator to generate two new inputs with prompt templates. Then, we adopt a pre-trained language model (i.e., PLM) as the encoder, utilize the prompt tuning method to fine-tune the encoder, and generate two correlation probabilities as the semantic features. In addition, we extract 26 handcrafted features from the vulnerability descriptions and the code commits. Finally, we utilize the attention mechanism to fuse the

Pressure-induced phase transition in transition metal trifluorides

As a fundamental thermodynamic variable, pressure can alter the bonding patterns and drive phase transitions leading to the creation of new high-pressure phases with exotic properties that are inaccessible at ambient pressure. Using the swarm intelligence structural prediction method, the phase transition of TiF_(3), from R-3c to the Pnma phase, was predicted at high pressure, accompanied by the destruction of TiF_6 octahedra and formation of TiF_8 square antiprismatic units. The Pnma phase of TiF_(3), formed using the laser-heated diamond-anvil-cell technique was confirmed via high-pressure x-ray diffraction experiments. Furthermore, the in situ electrical measurements indicate that the newly found Pnma phase has a semiconducting character, which is also consistent with the electronic band structure calculations. Finally, it was shown that this pressure-induced phase transition is a general phenomenon in ScF_(3), VF_(3), CrF_(3), and MnF_(3), offering valuable insights into the high-pressure phases of transition metal trifluorides.

An Erasure Code with Low Repair-Cost Based on A Combined-stripe Encoding Structure

As a commonly used data redundancy strategy, erasure codes can effectively improve storage efficiency. However, the more network bandwidth consumed during repair, the more it limits its practical application in distributed storage systems. To solve the problem of high repair costs of erasure codes, this paper proposes an erasure code-named combined-stripe local reconstruction codes (CSLRC). CSLRC generates local parity blocks for redundancy protection by adding appropriate redundancy and using combined-stripe coding. CSLRC can flexibly configure coding parameters to balance storage overhead and repair costs better. Experimental results show that CSLRC can significantly reduce the amount of data to be read and transmitted during the repair process while maintaining high fault tolerance, saving network bandwidth and I/O resources, and effectively shortening repair time compared with other erasure codes. © (2024), (Femto Technique Co.).
