Recently, WiFi Fingerprinting-based indoor positioning systems have gained significant attention due to the low cost of infrastructure deployment. In the data collection process, a higher density of reference points may lead to better positioning results. However, it makes this process time-consuming and laborious. To solve this problem, this study applies and compares different interpolation methods to enrich the fingerprint database without increasing the cost of the collection process. To evaluate the performance of the chosen methods, five interpolation methods are implemented in a multi-condition WiFi Fingerprinting dataset. Moreover, to check the robustness of the methods, different numbers of reference points are considered when creating the new interpolated fingerprint databases. According to the results, inverse distance weighting (IDW) is the most suitable interpolation method with low complexity and stable performance. The IDW-based database achieves an average interpolation error of less than 6 dBm compared to the original database. When applying this interpolated database to perform positioning tasks, it helps reduce the collection cost by 30% with slightly lower positioning results compared to the original database. This work demonstrates the feasibility of using interpolation to ease the data collection process of WiFi Fingerprinting, especially in complex and big areas such as airports or hospitals. With the rising competition among pharmaceutical companies, the current drug supply chain market has become more competitive with high-quality product segments. The rapid growth of internet pharmacies has made it more difficult to standardize drug safety throughout in complex distributed supply chain networks. There is a high chance of introducing counterfeit drugs which are almost the same as the original pharmaceuticals. Due to the lack of transparency the possibility of tampering with drugs in the current manual and web-based pharmaceutical systems is extremely high. Throughout the past recent years, these counterfeit drugs were recognized as the one of major worldwide problems. This situation is worse in developing countries. The unavailability of verifying the legitimacy of drug suppliers and poor mechanisms to trace the drugs were identified as critical points that need to be resolved. SUPPLYDECK comes as a solution for the critical scenario mentioned. This solution addresses the above problems using blockchain technology, as a distributed digital ledger that ensures transparency, traceability, and security. This can show promise for solving some global supply chain management problems using smart contracts and user authentication along with IoT technology and machine learning concepts that are critically examined with this potential application. © 2022 IEEE.

User-generated content is daily produced in social media, as such user interest summarization is critical to distill salient information from massive information. While the interested messages (e.g., tags or posts) from a single user are usually sparse becoming a bottleneck for existing methods, we propose a topic-aware graph-based neural interest summarization method (UGraphNet), enhancing user semantic mining by unearthing potential user relations and jointly learning the latent topic representations of posts that facilitates user interest learning. Experiments on two datasets collected from well-known social media platforms demonstrate the superior performance of our model in the tasks of user interest summarization and item recommendation. Further discussions also show that exploiting the latent topic representations and user relations are conductive to the user automatic language understanding. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper introduces a novel edge device architecture designed to optimize solar energy management systems. This article introduces a novel method for predicting solar energy production using an affordable data logger and the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm. The main goal of this research is to create a precise predictive model for solar energy output, addressing the critical need for accurate forecasting in the renewable energy industry. The study capitalizes on the accessibility and cost-efficiency of a low-cost data logger to collect detailed environmental and solar irradiance data. The ANN algorithm is utilized to analyze the collected dataset, providing a robust and effective approach for forecasting solar energy production. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the developed model achieves an impressive R2 score of 0.95, indicating a high degree of accuracy and reliability in predicting solar energy output. In agricultural water research, the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has emerged as a pivotal approach for large-scale data collection. Water availability in the context of water quality is very important, both for domestic and industrial purposes. For domestic purposes, drinking water and bathing water are separated. Meanwhile, for the palm oil industry, boiler filler is differentiated from additional process water (dilution water). Water quality parameters can be assessed from turbidity and Total Dissolve Solid (TDS). Measurements using measuring instruments separately and repeatedly require significant energy, time, and costs. This research was conducted with the primary objective of presenting a novel method for categorizing water quality with the approach of IoT sensor technology. The research methodology entailed the utilization of an integrated IoT water sensors system in conjunction with manual water categorization. The methods consist of (1) system design, (2) design and installation of sensor and IoT-based microcontrollers, and (3) accuracy and precision testing compared with laboratory measurements. The precision of the integrated IoT water sensors was assessed through a dedicated sensor precision test, resulting in an accuracy rate of 94.4% for the turbidity sensor and 97.5% for the TDS sensor. Notably, this approach successfully discriminated drinking water with valid categorization, while other water types, including groundwater, water with tea, and water with coffee, yielded null categorization results. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of investment recommender systems (IRSs) has increased due to advancements in technology. This study aims to present a new model for IRSs based on potential investor’s demographic data and feedback, using fuzzy neural inference solutions. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used in this research, including a review of past studies and analysis of data through Scopus analyze tool, Voyant, and VosViewer. The proposed model combines expert’s knowledge with demographic data to present the most suitable type of investment through an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference recommender system. The model is processed in several steps, including clustering investment data types in JMP and proposing the results through MATLAB. Interactive dynamic influence diagrams (I-DIDs) are a general framework for multiagent sequential decision making under uncertainty. Due to the model complexity, a significant amount of research has been invested into solving the model through various types of either exact or approximate algorithms. However, there is no tool that allows users to specify the algorithm parameters and visualise the model solutions. In this demo, we develop an interactive I-DID system that implements most of the state-of-art I-DID algorithms and develops a new type of algorithms based on evolutionary computation. In particular, we propose a multi-population genetic algorithm for solving the I-DID models and automate the generation of behavioural models in the solutions. This demo will facilitate the I-DID research development and practical applications, and elicit a new wave of I-DID solutions based on evolutionary algorithms. © 2022 International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent systems (***). School bus contributes positively to reducing the number of cars on the road, thereby reducing the environmental impact of cars. It also dramatically relieves working parents, who do not have to pick up and drop off their children separately in their private vehicles. However, the irregularity of the bus arrival times often leads to an extended waiting time for students at the bus stops, potentially compromising the students' safety. The communication barrier between schools, parents and bus drivers is also a significant challenge, mainly when a delay occurs during the transit of the students. This paper presents TOST (to-school-together), a school bus monitoring and management system for schools and parents. The school administrators, parents, and bus drivers are connected in one comprehensive school bus system. The proposed system provides realtime updates on the bus status, allowing peace of mind and easing the burden of parents, school administrators, and bus drivers. The design of TOST is based on feedback from the system stakeholders collected via a survey. We draw a complete understanding of the existing issues by analyzing the feedback. Finally, we have implemented the system using state-of-the-art technologies to address the identified issues and fulfil the system requirements.
