The process of semantic web service composition arranges several web services into one composite service to realize complex workflows with an exploitation of semantics. This paper proposes a framework to automatic semantic web service composition. Its advantage is that a huge amount of computation is performed during preprocessing and the composition approach is designed to exploit the parallel execution of processes which is nowadays supported in multiprocessor platforms. The framework is built to suit the WS Challenge competition requirements. © 2009 IEEE.

Background: Text mining challenges have been organised to measure the performance of automatic text mining solutions against a manually annotated gold standard corpus (GSC). The preparation of the GSC is timeconsuming and costly and the final corpus consists at the most of a few thousand documents annotated with a limited set of semantic groups. To overcome these shortcomings, the CALBC project partners (PPs) have produced a large-scale annotated biomedical corpus with four different semantic groups through the harmonisation of annotations from automatic text mining solutions, the first version of the Silver Standard Corpus (SSC-I). The four semantic groups were chemical entities and drugs (CHED), genes and proteins (PRGE), diseases and disorders (DISO) and species (SPE). This corpus has been used for the First CALBC Challenge asking the participants to annotate the corpus with their annotation solutions.

Many keyword-based approaches to text classification, information retrieval or even user modeling for adaptive web-based system could benefit from knowledge on relations between various keywords, which gives further possibilities to compare them, evaluate their distance etc. This paper proposes an approach how to determine keyword relations (mainly a parent-child relationship) by leveraging collective wisdom of the masses, present in data of collaborative (social) tagging systems on the Web. The feasibility of our approach is demonstrated on the data coming from the social bookmarking systems delicious and CiteULike. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.

In this article we describe the solution of multifactor identification and authentication in infomation systems strengthened through the monitoring of biometric authentication features. Multifactor authentication can be standard procedure for strengthening password authentication and require authentication by a biometric method. We explore possibilities of using the keystroke dynamics as an additional authentication method for user identification and authentication. We describe the factors affecting this type of identification and authentication. © 2009 ACM.

In this paper we show a platform which allows for education and training of a number of essential embedded skills. The Java optimized processor (JOP) is open source and has been used in several educational and training sessions and we cover how each setting has trained a special skill set. The experience covers basics from undergraduate education to Ph.D. level education. At each level different properties of the system are emphasized. Our emphasis on the interdisciplinary of embedded systems education is based on referenced research findings. This way we provide empirical findings and couple it with academic frameworks. © ACM 2009.

The AAAI-10 workshop program was held on July 11-12, 2010, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia. The workshop program included 13 workshops covering a wide range of topics in artificial intelligence. There were several presentations on particular formalisms for combining the levels of planning from the perspectives of classical planning, motion planning, POMDPs, search-based planning, and temporal logic-based constraints. Henry Lieberman from Massachusetts institute of technology Media Laboratory presented work developing a platform for knowledge acquisition and usage from expert users, built upon experience with eliciting information from nonexperts in a collaborative manner. The objective of the AAAI Workshop on Goal-Directed Autonomy (GDA) was to encourage discussion and novel contributions on intelligent agents that can self-select their goals. Jeremy Baxter from QinetiQ focused on user interaction, while Nick Hawes described a goal-directed reasoning framework for controlling a mobile robot.

There is a variety of approaches to use case modeling, especially regarding their textual description as their true form. Under certain circumstances, the use of each one of these approaches may be justified. A consistent application of a particular approach requires the existence of its metamodel. It appears that use case modeling notations are close enough to each other to allow for constructing a common, configurable use case modeling metamodel. Such a metamodel is proposed in this paper. It is based on the UML metamodel elements relevant to use case adapted and extended to cover different use case modeling notations with a special attention given to the elements of use case description. The configuration options of the proposed use case modeling metamodel are identified and the actual values for Jacobson's and Cockburn's notation presented and discussed. The metamodel is evaluated by a configurable use case modeling tool prototype.

Summary form only given, as follows. This session is the final round of the TTTC 2009 Best Doctoral Thesis Contest. This contest is organized by the TTTC Student Activities Committee for the fifth consecutive year and aims to promote and strengthen the interaction between graduate students and the industrial community, as well as to serve as a process by which student work is exposed to and tested under real-life industrial needs. This is achieved by offering students the chance to present their work in a conference environment to academic and industrial test experts, who will evaluate and comment in terms of novelty and advancement of industrial practice. In the preliminary round of this contest, doctoral students who are expected to graduate in 2009 were invited to submit a one page abstract of their thesis, where they defined the problem and its relevance to industry, described existing industrial practices for solving the problem and explained the proposed methodology and how it advances the theory and/or practice in the particular field. The abstracts were reviewed by a panel of industrial and academic experts and a set of finalists were selected for the final round of the contest. In this final round, during a dedicated session at the IEEE VLSI Test Symposium (VTS’09), each contestant is given a ten minute slot in front of a panel of experts, split equally between oral presentation and Q&A period. The panel of experts will judge the presented doctoral theses with regards to theoretical advancement, industrial relevance and presentation, and the winner of the contest will receive the 2009 TTTC Doctoral Thesis Award during the social event of the Symposium, to which all finalists are invited. The award consists of a certificate, an honorarium and an invitation to submit a paper on the presented work to the IEEE Design & Test magazine.

The paper extends the traditional browser concept with a Semantic Web tailored faceted browser thus providing integrated end-user grade support for both legacy Web and Semantic Web content. The new browser provides interactive exploratory search and navigation capabilities as well as user adaptation and personalization. We describe the operation, usage scenarios and dependencies of the browser.
