Reliable Task Offloading for 6G-Based IoT Applications

Fog computing is a key enabling technology of 6G systems as it provides quick and reliable computing,and data storage services which are required for several 6G *** Intelligence(AI)algorithms will be an integral part of 6G systems and efficient task offloading techniques using fog computing will improve their performance and *** this paper,the focus is on the scenario of Partial Offloading of a Task to Multiple Helpers(POMH)in which larger tasks are divided into smaller subtasks and processed in parallel,hence expediting task ***,using POMH presents challenges such as breaking tasks into subtasks and scaling these subtasks based on many interdependent factors to ensure that all subtasks of a task finish simultaneously,preventing resource ***,applying matching theory to POMH scenarios results in dynamic preference profiles of helping devices due to changing subtask sizes,resulting in a difficult-to-solve,externalities *** paper introduces a novel many-to-one matching-based algorithm,designed to address the externalities problem and optimize resource allocation within POMH ***,we propose a new time-efficient preference profiling technique that further enhances time optimization in POMH *** performance of the proposed technique is thoroughly evaluated in comparison to alternate baseline schemes,revealing many advantages of the proposed *** simulation findings indisputably show that the proposed matching-based offloading technique outperforms existing methodologies in the literature,yielding a remarkable 52 reduction in task latency,particularly under high workloads.

Locomotor intent classification has become a research hotspot due to its importance to the development of assistive robotics and wearable *** work have achieved impressive performance in classifying steady locomotion ***,it remains challenging for these methods to attain high accuracy when facing transitions between steady locomotion *** to the similarities between the information of the transitions and their adjacent steady ***,most of these methods rely solely on data and overlook the objective laws between physical activities,resulting in lower accuracy,particularly when encountering complex locomotion modes such as *** address the existing deficiencies,we propose the locomotion rule embedding long short-term memory(LSTM)network with Attention(LREAL)for human locomotor intent classification,with a particular focus on transitions,using data from fewer sensors(two inertial measurement units and four goniometers).The LREAL network consists of two levels:One responsible for distinguishing between steady states and transitions,and the other for the accurate identification of locomotor *** classifier in these levels is composed of multiple-LSTM layers and an attention *** introduce real-world motion rules and apply constraints to the network,a prior knowledge was added to the network via a rule-modulating *** method was tested on the ENABL3S dataset,which contains continuous locomotion date for seven steady and twelve transitions *** results showed that the LREAL network could recognize locomotor intents with an average accuracy of 99.03%and 96.52%for the steady and transitions states,*** is worth noting that the LREAL network accuracy for transition-state recognition improved by 0.18%compared to other state-of-the-art network,while using data from fewer sensors.

By the emergence of the fourth industrial revolution,interconnected devices and sensors generate large-scale,dynamic,and inharmonious data in Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT)*** vast heterogeneous data increase the challenges of security risks and data analysis *** IIoT grows,cyber-attacks become more diverse and complex,making existing anomaly detection models less effective to *** this paper,an ensemble deep learning model that uses the benefits of the Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)and the AutoEncoder(AE)architecture to identify out-of-norm activities for cyber threat hunting in IIoT is *** this model,the LSTM is applied to create a model on normal time series of data(past and present data)to learn normal data patterns and the important features of data are identified by AE to reduce data *** addition,the imbalanced nature of IIoT datasets has not been considered in most of the previous literature,affecting low accuracy and *** solve this problem,the proposed model extracts new balanced data from the imbalanced datasets,and these new balanced data are fed into the deep LSTM AE anomaly detection *** this paper,the proposed model is evaluated on two real IIoT datasets-Gas Pipeline(GP)and Secure Water Treatment(SWaT)that are imbalanced and consist of long-term and short-term dependency on *** results are compared with conventional machine learning classifiers,Random Forest(RF),Multi-Layer Perceptron(MLP),Decision Tree(DT),and Super Vector Machines(SVM),in which higher performance in terms of accuracy is obtained,99.3%and 99.7%based on GP and SWaT datasets,***,the proposed ensemble model is compared with advanced related models,including Stacked Auto-Encoders(SAE),Naive Bayes(NB),Projective Adaptive Resonance Theory(PART),Convolutional Auto-Encoder(C-AE),and Package Signatures(PS)based LSTM(PS-LSTM)model.

We present a lightweight and efficient semisupervised video object segmentation network based on the space-time memory *** some extent,our method solves the two difficulties encountered in traditional video object segmentation:one is that the single frame calculation time is too long,and the other is that the current frame’s segmentation should use more information from past *** algorithm uses a global context(GC)module to achieve highperformance,real-time *** GC module can effectively integrate multi-frame image information without increased memory and can process each frame in real ***,the prediction mask of the previous frame is helpful for the segmentation of the current frame,so we input it into a spatial constraint module(SCM),which constrains the areas of segments in the current *** SCM effectively alleviates mismatching of similar targets yet consumes few additional *** added a refinement module to the decoder to improve boundary *** model achieves state-of-the-art results on various datasets,scoring 80.1%on YouTube-VOS 2018 and a J&F score of 78.0%on DAVIS 2017,while taking 0.05 s per frame on the DAVIS 2016 validation dataset.

Early Detection of Cyber-Physical Attacks on Electric Vehicles Fast Charging Stations Using Wavelets and Deep Learning

Transportation electrification plays an important role in the operation of the smart grid through the integration of the electric vehicle fast charging stations (EVFCSs), which allows the electric vehicles to provide regulation services to the grid through the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) concept. However, such an integration makes smart grid assets prone to cyber vulnerability threats. In this paper, a cyber-physical attack detection approach is developed to early detect such attacks. The proposed approach combines the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and the convolution neural network (CNN) to provide an effective detection technique. The proposed detection approach has undergone rigorous testing that considered 420 realistic operational scenarios. Unlike in previous work, the proposed detection approach was found to be effective in automatically learning the salient features from the data as well as identifying the frequency bands that hold such features and using them in the classification process. Furthermore, this work investigated the cyber-attack detection accuracy using different time resolutions of smart meters. The results have shown that the proposed approach effectively detects cyber-physical attacks with an accuracy of 99.76% and a low computational time of 1.8 seconds. © 2024 IEEE.

A Double-Branch Xception Architecture for Acute Hemorrhage Detection and Subtype Classification

This study presents a deep learning model for efficient intracranial hemorrhage(ICH)detection and subtype classification on non-contrast head computed tomography(CT)*** refers to bleeding in the skull,leading to the most critical life-threatening health condition requiring rapid and accurate *** is classified as intra-axial hemorrhage(intraventricular,intraparenchymal)and extra-axial hemorrhage(subdural,epidural,subarachnoid)based on the bleeding location inside the *** computer-aided diagnoses(CAD)-based schemes have been proposed for ICH detection and classification at both slice and scan ***,these approaches performonly binary classification and suffer from a large number of parameters,which increase storage ***,the accuracy of brain hemorrhage detection in existing models is significantly low for medically critical *** overcome these problems,a fast and efficient system for the automatic detection of ICH is *** designed a double-branch model based on xception architecture that extracts spatial and instant features,concatenates them,and creates the 3D spatial context(common feature vectors)fed to a decision tree classifier for final *** data employed for the experimentation was gathered during the 2019 Radiologist Society of North America(RSNA)brain hemorrhage detection *** model outperformed benchmark models and achieved better accuracy in intraventricular(99.49%),subarachnoid(99.49%),intraparenchymal(99.10%),and subdural(98.09%)categories,thereby justifying the performance of the proposed double-branch xception architecture for ICH detection and classification.

ACDD: Automated COVID Detection using Deep Neural Networks

December 2019 witnessed the outbreak of a novel coronavirus, thought to have started in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The situation worsened owing to its quick spread across the globe, leading to a worldwide pandemic that became known as COVID-19. To suppress the pandemic, early detection of positive COVID-19 patients has become highly important. There is a lack of precise automated tool kits available for use in diagnosing medical conditions, so auxiliary diagnostic tools are in high demand. Important information about this virus can be extracted from X-ray images, which can be used in conjunction with advanced artificial intelligence. This study addresses the unavailability of physicians in remote areas, and the complex algorithm proposed in this study can find potential matches for patients in rural areas who need care. This could help to improve access to care for those who need it most. The purpose of this study is to develop a novel model that can automatically detect COVID-19 by utilizing chest X-ray images. The proposed model incorporates binary and multi-class classification and can be employed by radiologists for timely detection of the COVID-19 virus in an effective manner. © 2023 The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers.

GOAL: Generalized Jointly Sparse Linear Discriminant Regression for Feature Extraction

Ridge regression (RR)-based methods aim to obtain a low-dimensional subspace for feature extraction. However, the subspace's dimensionality does not exceed the number of data categories, hence compromising its capability of feature representation. Moreover, these methods with L2-norm metric and regularization cannot extract highly robust features from data with corruption. To address these problems, in this article, we propose generalized jointly sparse linear discriminant regression (GOAL), a novel regression method based on joint L2,1-norm and capped-L2-norm, which can integrate sparsity, locality, and discriminability into one model to learn a full-rank robust feature extractor. The sparsely selected discriminative features are robust enough to characterize the decision boundary between classes. Locality is related to manifold structure and Laplacian smoothing, which can enhance the robustness of the model. By using the multinorm metric and regularization regression framework, the proposed method obtains the projection with joint sparsity and guarantees that the rank of the projection matrix will not be limited by the number of classes. An iterative algorithm is proposed to compute the optimal solution. Complexity analysis and proofs of convergence are also given in the article. Experiments on well-known datasets demonstrate our model's superiority and generalization ability. © 2020 IEEE.

Machine Learning Based Phishing Attacks Detection Using Multiple Datasets

Nowadays, individuals and organizations are increasingly targeted by phishing attacks, so an accurate phishing detection system is required. Therefore, many phishing detection techniques have been proposed as well as phishing datasets have been collected. In this paper, three datasets have been used to train and test machine learning classifiers. The datasets have been archived by Phish-Tank and UCI Machine Learning Repository. Furthermore, Information Gain algorithm have been used for features reduction and selection purpose. In addition, six machine learning classifiers have been evaluated, namely NaiveBayes, ANN, DecisionStump, KNN, J48 and RandomForest. However, the classifiers have been trained and tested over the three datasets in two stages. The first stage is using all features included in each dataset while the second stage using selected features by IG algorithm. At the first stage RandomForest classifier has shown the best performance over Dataset-1 and Dataset-2, while J48 has shown the best performance over Dataset-3. On the other hand, after features selection, the RandomForest classifier was the superior among the other five classifiers over Dataset-1 and Dataset-2 with accuracy of 98% and 93.66% respectively. While ANN classifier has shown the best performance with accuracy of 88.92% over Dataset-3. Density estimation-based method to determine sample size for random sample partition of big data

Random sample partition(RSP)is a newly developed big data representation and management model to deal with big data approximate computation *** research and practical applications have confirmed that RSP is an efficient solution for big data processing and ***,a challenge for implementing RSP is determining an appropriate sample size for RSP data *** a large sample size increases the burden of big data computation,a small size will lead to insufficient distribution information for RSP data *** address this problem,this paper presents a novel density estimation-based method(DEM)to determine the optimal sample size for RSP data ***,a theoretical sample size is calculated based on the multivariate Dvoretzky-Kiefer-Wolfowitz(DKW)inequality by using the fixed-point iteration(FPI)***,a practical sample size is determined by minimizing the validation error of a kernel density estimator(KDE)constructed on RSP data blocks for an increasing sample ***,a series of persuasive experiments are conducted to validate the feasibility,rationality,and effectiveness of *** results show that(1)the iteration function of the FPI method is convergent for calculating the theoretical sample size from the multivariate DKW inequality;(2)the KDE constructed on RSP data blocks with sample size determined by DEM can yield a good approximation of the probability density function(p.d.f);and(3)DEM provides more accurate sample sizes than the existing sample size determination methods from the perspective of *** demonstrates that DEM is a viable approach to deal with the sample size determination problem for big data RSP implementation.
