The research is aimed at improvement of multi-spectral image analysis for remote sensing and monitoring the environment at various ecosystems. A combined spectral imagery encompasses several spectrums at a time compared to single spectral imagery that takes only one spectrum at an instance or at a given area to cover all these spectrums. The study employs digital high resolution satellite images and ground based data to quantify the vegetation vigour, water quality, soil characteristics and changes in land cover. Features, indexes, and classification routines are employed to process the data that is collected with the aid of avionics and other peripherals. This provincial level modelling highlights important gains in environmental status, which includes the general improvement in vegetation condition, water quality as well as physical properties of the soil in the province. This study focuses on the complementary possibilities of integration of multi-spectral imaging with other remote sensing technologies and the high performance of data processing. These techniques play significant roles if used to give current and comprehensive information in the management and conservation of the environment as highlighted in the study. © 2024 IEEE.

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) take vital role in intelligent transportation systems, but they face challenges due to dynamic network topology, impacting communication efficiency, especially with increasing active nodes. Security and privacy concerns are paramount, necessitating authentication to ensure only legitimate vehicles access the network. Secure vehicular clustering offers a solution, yet the number of clusters affects network dependability and efficiency. To tackle this, we present a secure clustering mechanism using Bat optimization algorithm, mimicking echolocation behavior to optimize clusters. We introduce an authentication technique for cluster heads to admit approved members, enhancing vehicular authentication. Simulations using MATLAB evaluate our approach, showing improved performance in end-to-end delay, overhead, and cluster head count compared to similar methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the limited computing resources of both mobile devices (MDs) and the mobile edge computing (MEC) server, devising reasonable strategies for MD task offloading, MEC server resource pricing, and resource allocation is crucial. In this paper, a scenario is considered, comprising multiple MDs and a single MEC server. Each MD has a divisible task in each time slot, allowing for partial offloading and the option to discard parts of the task. The MEC server contains multiple computing units with the same computing power, and its computing resources can be dynamically adjusted through dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) according to the size of tasks offloaded by MDs. At any given time slice, a Stackelberg game is formulated based on the strategies of the MDs and the strategy of the MEC server. An iterative evolution algorithm is employed to explore the optimal strategies for MDs and the MEC server. Simulation results demonstrate that both parties can reach an equilibrium state through the game, and these experiments confirm that the algorithm effectively enhances system efficiency. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Machine learning-based systems have emerged as the primary means for achieving the highest levels of productivity and efficiency. They have become the most influential competitive factor for many technologies and business companies such as Cloud AI Companies (Google, Facebook…) and Health Care AI Companies (Tempus, Nanox …). However, privacy and security issues have become the biggest challenge facing all ML applications. These threats are known as Adversarial Machine Learning (AML). Their main goal is to maliciously manipulate training data and model parameters to obtain misleading results. To overcome these challenges, several research studies have proven that Blockchain, which relies on cryptographic technologies, constitutes a promising solution for securing ML applications. It provides high guarantees to make the system scalable, reliable and more secure. In this survey, we provide an overview of ML applications and the most hostile attacks they face. Then, we define the blockchain technique and its distinctive features. After that, we conduct a comprehensive and detailed survey of the latest and best blockchain-based research to address security issues in ML applications (integrity, confidentiality and availability). We analyze, compare and comment on all the proposed solutions. In the end, we discuss in detail the various challenges that hinder the adoption of blockchain technology and we extract the most important scientific trends that will serve as guidance and support for researchers in their future works. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

This paper presents a multimodal interaction system designed for speech-based autism intervention in Sinhala-speaking Sri Lankan children, utilizing the NAO robot. The system integrates four components, language content detection, dialog management, voice synthesis, and gesture synthesis, to create an engaging and adaptive therapeutic environment. By leveraging these technologies, the system provides real-time, personalized responses that align with the cultural and linguistic needs of Sinhala-speaking children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The NAO robot facilitates natural and supportive interaction through synchronized speech and gestures, aiming to improve communication and social skills in children with ASD. Preliminary evaluations demonstrate the potential of the system to enhance engagement and responsiveness in therapy sessions, marking a significant step forward in developing specialized interventions for autism in non-Western, non-English-speaking contexts. © 2024 IEEE.

Data with missing values,or incomplete information,brings some challenges to the development of classification,as the incompleteness may significantly affect the performance of *** this paper,we handle missing values in both training and test sets with uncertainty and imprecision reasoning by proposing a new belief combination of classifier(BCC)method based on the evidence *** proposed BCC method aims to improve the classification performance of incomplete data by characterizing the uncertainty and imprecision brought by *** BCC,different attributes are regarded as independent sources,and the collection of each attribute is considered as a ***,multiple classifiers are trained with each subset independently and allow each observed attribute to provide a sub-classification result for the query ***,these sub-classification results with different weights(discounting factors)are used to provide supplementary information to jointly determine the final classes of query *** weights consist of two aspects:global and *** global weight calculated by an optimization function is employed to represent the reliability of each classifier,and the local weight obtained by mining attribute distribution characteristics is used to quantify the importance of observed attributes to the pattern *** comparative experiments including seven methods on twelve datasets are executed,demonstrating the out-performance of BCC over all baseline methods in terms of accuracy,precision,recall,F1 measure,with pertinent computational costs.

Prior study has developed the RouteSegmentation algorithm to identify the perimeter area surrounding a route. In this study, a comparative experiment was carried out to investigate the performance of the RouteSegmentation algorithm implementation in contrast to the RouteBoxer algorithm. Both algorithms play a crucial role in geographical information systems (GIS), particularly in enhancing navigational tools by identifying points of interest along specified routes. Through systematic experimentation using various perimeter distance values and types of route, the trade-offs between processing efficiency and the granularity of the area identified by these algorithms were evaluated. The results demonstrate that RouteSegmentation maintained relatively consistent performance across different perimeter distance values and statistically significantly faster processing time than RouteBoxer. Furthermore, while the RouteBoxer algorithm benefits from larger perimeter distance values by reducing processing time, it compromises the coverage results of the algorithm and potentially undermines its usefulness in practical scenarios. This study not only provides insights into the optimal use of perimeter distance values for each algorithm but also guides users in selecting the appropriate algorithm based on their specific application needs, balancing detailed geographical analysis and runtime efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Malaria is an infectious disease spread by mosquitoes that effect humans and other animals. It is a massive threat to humanity, with instances growing each year. It is essential to prevent and diagnose malaria immediately and efficiently. For the time being, conventional methods are used for diagnosing malaria in which the patient's blood sample is examined by microscope or by using malaria RTD kits. This approach has several limitations because it requires medical expertise, is expensive, takes a long time, and the results are unsatisfactory. Artificial intelligence-based systems can prevent and help in diagnose of this infectious disease. Because of these limitations, the proposed work has proposed an AI-based diagnosis system that can detect malaria parasites immediately and efficiently. In the proposed experiment, we have applied four different pre-trained deep learning models on the image dataset with some preprocessing and optimization techniques for malaria parasite detection. After investigations, evaluation matrices such as precision, Recall, F1-score, sensitivity, and specificity are used to measure the performance of the proposed models. The Inception-Resnet outperformed by achieving 95% accuracy, VGG16 achieved 92% accuracy, inception achieved 93% accuracy, and VGG19 achieved 91% accuracy. The positive outcomes of this study show that this approach performs much better than the approaches currently used. Furthermore, the proposed method is relevant to health experts for screening purposes. © 2023 IEEE.

This study aims at designing Map Reduce and federated learning-based asthma prediction model for adolescent to provide answers to the problems associated with the existing asthma prediction model for adolescent. This study leveraged on two diverse datasets: the Nigerian Hospital Asthma dataset and the National Survey of Children Health dataset for benchmarking purposes. Symmetrical uncertainty and normalization interaction were employed for feature selection. The model was trained using Federated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Enabler (FATE) and complemented with XGBoost model and one central server for federated algorithm averaging. The study was implemented with python programming language on Google Collaboratory environment. The results of the analysis showed considerable high accuracy of 0.98, precision (0.98%), recall (0.98%) and F1-socre (0.99%) for the asthmatic class and precision of 0.98%, recall of 0.98%, as well as F1-score of 0.99% for the non-asthmatic class. The implemented model was benchmark with the existing asthma prediction models in the literature. Simulated attack was also performed using implemented model with and without Map Reduce. This study concludes that the researchers' model has the potentials to outperform some of the existing machine learning models on asthma prediction in adolescent, thereby facilitating collaborative sharing of the model with other hospitals, protect the patient information from leakage, meeting the criteria of healthcare data protection regulation as well as beneficial for enhancing the security of the dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence(AI) systems surpass certain human intelligence abilities in a statistical sense as a whole, but are not yet the true realization of these human intelligence abilities and behaviors. There are differences, and even contradictions, between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. With the goal of achieving general AI, this study contains a review of the role of cognitive science in inspiring the development of the three mainstream academic branches of AI based on the three-layer framework proposed by David Marr, and the limitations of the current development of AI are explored and analyzed. The differences and inconsistencies between the cognition mechanisms of the human brain and the computation mechanisms of AI systems are analyzed. They are found to be the cause of the differences and contradictions between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. Additionally, eight important research directions and their scientific issues that need to focus on braininspired AI research are proposed: highly imitated bionic information processing, a large-scale deep learning model that balances structure and function, multi-granularity joint problem solving bidirectionally driven by data and knowledge, AI models that simulate specific brain structures, a collaborative processing mechanism with the physical separation of perceptual processing and interpretive analysis, embodied intelligence that integrates the brain cognitive mechanism and AI computation mechanisms,intelligence simulation from individual intelligence to group intelligence(social intelligence), and AI-assisted brain cognitive intelligence.
