With the proliferation of cloud services and the continuous growth in enterprises' demand for dynamic multi-dimensional resources, the implementation of effective strategy for time-varying workload scheduling has become increasingly significant. In this paper, we propose a deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based method for time-varying workload scheduling, aiming to allocate resources efficiently across servers in the cluster. Specifically, we integrate a classifier and queue scorer to construct a priority queue that exploits temporal resource utilization patterns across different workload classes. Then, we design parallel graph attention layers to capture the dimensional features and temporal dynamics of cloud server cluster. Moreover, we propose a DRL algorithm to generate scheduling strategies that can adapt to dynamic environments. Validation on real-world traces from Google cluster demonstrates that our method outperforms existing approaches in key metrics of cloud server cluster management. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have demonstrated remarkable performance in classification and regression tasks on RGB-based pathological inputs. The network's prediction mechanism must be interpretable to establish trust in the clinical routine. One principal approach to interpretation is feature attribution. Feature attribution methods identify the importance of input features for the output prediction. Building on the information Bottleneck Attribution (IBA) method, we recognize the RGB's input regions with high mutual information with the network's output for each prediction. IBA identifies input regions that have sufficient predictive information. In this paper, we introduce "IBATree", a novel approach that combines IBA with decision trees to enhance both the interpretability and accuracy of DNNs in cancer cell classification. Our method leverages the information bottleneck framework to inject noise into feature maps and then isolates the most informative features for model predictions while maintaining high classification performance. We evaluated our proposed approach on three datasets - CNMC, ISBI2016, and BreaKHis - demonstrating competitive accuracy and producing clear interpretations. This makes IBATree particularly suitable for clinical applications, where understanding the rationale behind predictions is crucial. Our results show that IBATree provides reliable predictions and valuable insights into feature importance, paving the way for its application in various biomedical domains. © 2024 IEEE.

Mental-image based spatiotemporal (4D) language understanding in human was considered from the viewpoint of cognitive science and simulated based on the mental image model proposed in mental image directed semantic theory (MIDST). The application system was evaluated based on a psychological experiment involving human subjects and found a good success in answering questions concerning the scenes expressed in 4D language. © 2023 IEEE.

Effective and Imperceptible Adversarial Textual Attack Via Multi-objectivization

The field of adversarial textual attack has significantly grown over the past few years, where the commonly considered objective is to craft adversarial examples (AEs) that can successfully fool the target model. However, the imperceptibility of attacks, which is also essential for practical attackers, is often left out by previous studies. In consequence, the crafted AEs tend to have obvious structural and semantic differences from the original human-written text, making them easily perceptible. In this work, we advocate leveraging multi-objectivization to address such an issue. Specifically, we reformulate the problem of crafting AEs as a multi-objective optimization problem, where the attack imperceptibility is considered as an auxiliary objective. Then, we propose a simple yet effective evolutionary algorithm, dubbed HydraText, to solve this problem. HydraText can be effectively applied to both score-based and decision-based attack settings. Exhaustive experiments involving 44,237 instances demonstrate that HydraText consistently achieves competitive attack success rates and better attack imperceptibility than the recently proposed attack approaches. A human evaluation study also shows that the AEs crafted by HydraText are more indistinguishable from human-written text. Finally, these AEs exhibit good transferability and can bring notable robustness improvement to the target model by adversarial training. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

The software development process is more flexible with the concept of containerization in the microservice platform. This research is on three key components to resolve problems faced by the developers and DevOps teams in the IT industry. First, the development phase expects a fully automated software release process from to the deployment phase and then optimize processes tailored to Docker, and Kubernetes, in microservice-based applications. Then streamline the process and leverage the container orchestration technologies to monitor the main aspect of the development lifecycle through the multi-cloud deployment on demand of the growth of day-today releases on multi-regions. A centralized monitoring platform is developed to monitor the deployed applications and that provides comprehensive visibility regarding performance and health of microservices. At the stage of scalarization in microservices, Vertical Pod Autoscaling (VPA) and Horizontal Pod Autoscaling (HPA) are available approaches for resource allocation, and they require measuring the minimum and maximum resource limits. As a result, an intelligent resource allocation system is proposed using a combination of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) algorithms to cater to dynamic resource allocation, optimizing scalability, and improving cost-efficiency. This research aims to achieve practical insights into the IT industry's automated deployment, managing, scaling, and monitoring of microservice-based applications through the mentioned components. © 2023 IEEE.

Smart contracts have emerged as one of the most successful applications in the blockchain domain, playing a significant role in various blockchain ecosystems. Inspired by smart contracts, a multitude of cryptographic assets have been created. To standardize these assets, industry standards such as ERC20 (Ethereum Request for Comments 20), ERC721, and ERC1155 have been proposed. In recent years, smart contracts have frequently fallen victim to attacks. Honeypot contracts, disguised as ERC20-compliant tokens, are widely prevalent on the blockchain, enticing victims to make purchases. Such malicious smart contracts exhibiting deceptive behavior are collectively referred to as honeypot tokens. This paper focuses on ERC20-compliant smart contracts and defines six common types of honeypot issues. Building upon advancements in smart contract vulnerability detection, we propose an enhanced symbolic execution-based detection tool called Honeytoken-Detector. We conduct experiments on both contracts known to have similar issues and actual token contracts from the real world. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our tool in identifying vulnerabilities. © 2023 IEEE.

Observation points classifier ensemble for high-dimensional imbalanced classification

In this paper,an Observation Points Classifier Ensemble(OPCE)algorithm is proposed to deal with High-Dimensional Imbalanced Classification(HDIC)problems based on data processed using the Multi-Dimensional Scaling(MDS)feature extraction ***,dimensionality of the original imbalanced data is reduced using MDS so that distances between any two different samples are preserved as well as ***,a novel OPCE algorithm is applied to classify imbalanced samples by placing optimised observation points in a low-dimensional data ***,optimization of the observation point mappings is carried out to obtain a reliable assessment of the unknown *** experiments have been conducted to evaluate the feasibility,rationality,and effectiveness of the proposed OPCE algorithm using seven benchmark HDIC data *** results show that(1)the OPCE algorithm can be trained faster on low-dimensional imbalanced data than on high-dimensional data;(2)the OPCE algorithm can correctly identify samples as the number of optimised observation points is increased;and(3)statistical analysis reveals that OPCE yields better HDIC performances on the selected data sets in comparison with eight other HDIC *** demonstrates that OPCE is a viable algorithm to deal with HDIC problems.

Deep Learning Based Take-Over Performance Prediction and Its Application on Intelligent Vehicles

Take-over performance plays a significant role in evaluating drivers' state, and serves as a crucial reference for enhancing control transitions in the context of conditionally automated driving. In this study, we aim to predict minimum anticipated collision time (min ACT), an indicator of drivers' take-over performance, in expectation of promoting safer take-overs via deep learning, so that drivers' state detriment of take-over safety could be adjusted accordingly with intelligent human-machine interaction algorithms predictably. By incorporating multi-source information including drivers' state, drivers' demographics, surrounding traffic features as well as driver-vehicle interaction characteristics, network model “ACTNet” was proposed to facilitate continuous estimation. Depthwise separable convolution and non-local self-attention were utilized to prevent overfitting and establish spatial dependency over fixation heatmap, respectively. To overcome data distribution imbalance, class balanced loss was used in conjunction with regression loss to realize more accurate predictions. Driving simulator experiment was conducted with dataset collected for the subsequent verification of the proposed algorithm. Potentialities of deep learning methods were highlighted for take-over studies, contributing to the design of intelligent human-machine interaction systems in conditional automation. Our findings present a valid method of deep learning in predicting drivers' take-over performance and meanwhile have implications for the development of intelligent adaptive take-over time budget regulation and dynamic drivers' state adjustment algorithms.
