The development and adopting of advanced communication technologies provide mobile users more convenience to connect any wireless network anytime and anywhere. Therefore, a large number of base stations (BS) are demanded keeping users connectivity, enhancing network capacity, and guarantee a sustained users Quality of Experiences (QoS). However, increasing the number of BS leads to an increase in the ecological ad radiation hazards. In order to green communication, many factors should be taken into consideration, i.e., saving energy, guarantee QoS, and reducing pollution hazards. Therefore, we propose tethered balloon technology that can replace a large number of BS and reduce ecological and radiation hazards due to its high altitude and feasible green and healthy broadband communication. The main contribution of this paper is to deploy tethered balloon technology at different altitude and measure the power density. Furthermore, we evaluate the measurement of power density from different height of tethered balloon comparison with traditional wireless communication technologies. The simulation results showed that tethered balloon technology can deliver green communication effectively and efficiently without any hazardous impacts. © 2019 IEEE.

The emerging IoT introduces many new challenges that cannot be adequately addressed by the current 'cloud-only' architectures. The cooperation of the fog and cloud is considered to be a promising architecture, which efficiently handles IoT's data processing and communications requirements. However, how to schedule tasks to better adapt to IoT real-time needs and reduce the energy in the fog-cloud system is not well addressed. In this paper, we first model the energy consumption of the fog and cloud, respectively, and formulate a task scheduling problem into a constrained optimisation problem in fog-cloud computing system. Then, an efficient deadline-energy scheduling algorithm based on ant colony optimisation (DEACO) is put forward to tackle this problem, which achieves to reduce energy consumption on the condition of satisfying the task deadline. Finally, algorithms have been simulated on the extended CloudSim simulator. The experimental results have shown that our scheduling approach reduces energy more effective. © 2020 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

—Tensor networks have been successfully applied in simulation of quantum physical systems for decades. Recently, they have also been employed in classical simulation of quantum computing, in particular, random quantum circuits. This paper proposes a decision diagram style data structure, called TDD (Tensor Decision Diagram), for more principled and convenient applications of tensor networks. This new data structure provides a compact and canonical representation for quantum circuits. By exploiting circuit partition, the TDD of a quantum circuit can be computed efficiently. Furthermore, we show that the operations of tensor networks essential in their applications (e.g., addition and contraction), can also be implemented efficiently in TDDs. A proof-of-concept implementation of TDDs is presented and its efficiency is evaluated on a set of benchmark quantum circuits. It is expected that TDDs will play an important role in various design automation tasks related to quantum circuits, including but not limited to equivalence checking, error detection, synthesis, simulation, and verification. CloudSafe: A tool for an automated security analysis for cloud computing

Cloud computing has been adopted widely, providing on-demand computing resources to improve perfornance and reduce the operational costs. However, these new functionalities also bring new ways to exploit the cloud computing environment. To assess the security of the cloud, graphical security models can be used, such as Attack Graphs and Attack Trees. However, existing models do not consider all types of threats, and also automating the security assessment functions are difficult. In this paper, we propose a new security assessment tool for the cloud named CloudSafe, an automated security assessment for the cloud. The CloudSafe tool collates various tools and frameworks to automate the security assessment process. To demonstrate the applicability of the CloudSafe, we conducted security assessment in Amazon AWS, where our experimental results showed that we can effectively gather security information of the cloud and carry out security assessment to produce security reports. Users and cloud service providers can use the security report generated by the CloudSafe to understand the security posture of the cloud being used/provided. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. Federate learning can conduct machine learning as well as protect the privacy of self-owned training data on corresponding ends, instead of having to upload to a central trusted data aggregation server. In mobile scenarios, a centralized trusted server may not be existing, and even though it exists, the delay will not be manageable, e.g., smart driving cars. Thus, mobile federate learning at the edge with privacy-awareness is attracted more and more attentions. It then imposes a problem - after data are trained on a mobile terminal to obtain a learned model, how to share the model parameters among others to create more accurate and robust accumulative final model. This kind of model sharing confronts several challenges, e.g., the sharing must be conducted without a third trusted party (autonomously), and the sharing must be fair as model training (by training data)is valuable. To tackle the above challenges, we propose a smart contract and IPFS (Inter-Planetary File System) based model sharing protocol and algorithms to address the challenges. The proposed protocol does not rely on a trusted third party, where individual-learned models are shared/stored in corresponding ends. Conducted through extensive experiments, three main steps of the proposed protocol are evaluated. The average executive time of the three steps are 0.059s, 0.060s and 0.032s, demonstrating its efficiency. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Semi-supervised ordinal regression (S2OR) problems are ubiquitous in real-world applications, where only a few ordered instances are labeled and massive instances remain unlabeled. Recent researches have shown that directly optimizing concordance index or AUC can impose a better ranking on the data than optimizing the traditional error rate in ordinal regression (OR) problems. In this paper, we propose an unbiased objective function for S2OR AUC optimization based on ordinal binary decomposition approach. Besides, to handle the large-scale kernelized learning problems, we propose a scalable algorithm called QS3ORAO using the doubly stochastic gradients (DSG) framework for functional optimization. Theoretically, we prove that our method can converge to the optimal solution at the rate of O(1/t), where t is the number of iterations for stochastic data sampling. Extensive experimental results on various benchmark and real-world datasets also demonstrate that our method is efficient and effective while retaining similar generalization performance. The system introduces the extensive application and development process of image denoising based on non-local mean. The principle and specific theoretical model of the non-local mean algorithm are described. The process of improving the non-local mean algorithm after being proposed and how to improve it is elaborated and the shortcomings of the algorithm are pointed out. The noise reduction algorithm is experimentally described in detail from the aspects of peak signal-to-noise ratio, mean square error and structural similarity under different noise environment conditions. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2018.

Robust support vector machine (RSVM) has been shown to perform remarkably well to improve the generalization performance of support vector machine under the noisy environment. Unfortunately, in order to handle the non-convexity induced by ramp loss in RSVM, existing RSVM solvers often adopt the DC programming framework which is computationally inefficient for running multiple outer loops. This hinders the application of RSVM to large-scale problems. Safe sample screening that allows for the exclusion of training samples prior to or early in the training process is an effective method to greatly reduce computational time. However, existing safe sample screening algorithms are limited to convex optimization problems while RSVM is a non-convex problem. To address this challenge, in this paper, we propose two safe sample screening rules for RSVM based on the framework of concave-convex procedure (CCCP). Specifically, we provide screening rule for the inner solver of CCCP and another rule for propagating screened samples between two successive solvers of CCCP. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work of safe sample screening to a non-convex optimization problem. More importantly, we provide the security guarantee to our sample screening rules to RSVM. Experimental results on a variety of benchmark datasets verify that our safe sample screening rules can significantly reduce the computational time. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. The development of Internet of Things (IoT) makes the application of smart homes grow rapidly. It is very popular to install smart appliances in the house. However, building a smart control system at home not only costs a lot but also has many limitations. For this reason, this study proposes a smart homes control system to easily integrate IoT, WSN, smart robot and single-board computer to implement smart home applications. We use wireless technology and automatic equipment to avoid excessive communication cable and to make the house more intelligent to keep in-house movement unimpeded and indoor space tidy and to let appliance adjust appropriate environment settings automatically. This system brings intelligence and convenience to home, making living environment more comfortable. © 2018 IEEE.
