Ontology-based test case reduction in regression testing during software testing is a sophisticated approach that leverages semantic knowledge representation to optimize the selection of test cases. By harnessing domain-specific ontologies, this methodology facilitates a more intelligent and efficient reduction process, ensuring that only the most relevant test cases are retained for subsequent testing cycles. This research paper explores the application of ontology-based technique to enhance the efficiency of regression testing in software development. By leveraging ontological knowledge representations, the study introduces a novel approach for reducing the number of test cases while preserving test coverage, thereby significantly optimizing the regression testing process. The proposed framework not only streamlines testing efforts but also enhances the overall quality assurance of software systems, making it a valuable contribution to software engineering practices. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of IOT smart devices has necessitated increasingly stringent requirements for DC power sources in terms of output voltage, size, and cost. For instance, Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs), utilized as photodetectors, require a significantly high reverse bias voltage during the detection of feeble optical signals to achieve optimal gain and high signal-to-noise ratio, thereby ensuring exceptional sensitivity. To address the diverse demands of various smart devices for DC power, a high-output DC/DC boost circuit without a step-up transformer has been innovatively designed. This circuit is comprised of four fundamental components: an oscillator circuit, a comparator circuit, a voltage multiplier circuit, and a constant-current and voltage-stabilizing circuit. The paper conducts a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the circuit's topology, parameter selection, and operational process, which is further validated through Multisim simulation. Additionally, a PCB circuit was designed, fabricated, and underwent rigorous practical testing. The test results conclusively demonstrate that the designed boost circuit proficiently provides APDs with the appropriate bias voltage, eliminating the need for boost transformer. It boasts high output voltage, a simplistic structure, small size, and low cost, enabling it to seamlessly share the same input power source with the APD detection circuit and be integrated into the same PCB layout. © 2024 IEEE.

In today's digital landscape, the prevention of cyber attacks has become exceptionally crucial. This is especially true for safety-critical systems, where safeguarding against these threats is of paramount importance. To address this concern, the MITRE Corporation has developed ATT&CK, an extensive framework comprising data matrices. This framework serves the purpose of assessing a company's security preparedness and pinpointing vulnerabilities that may exist within its infrastructure. By leveraging the capabilities of MITRE ATT&CK, including its tactics and techniques, in conjunction with the LDA4CPS tool, we have devised a novel approach to identify the most critical vulnerabilities in a susceptible system. Furthermore, incorporating MITRE ATT&CK mitigations tailored to the discovered vulnerability empowers the blue team (defensive side) with tangible, practical measures to fortify their security posture. This approach enhances their capability to effectively counter cyber threats, bolstering their overall defensive capabilities. © 2024 IOS Press. All rights reserved.

Optimal Multi-Bitrate Video Caching and Processing in Edge Computing: A Stackelberg Game Approach

By caching and transcoding video files on edge servers, video edge caching (VEC) can alleviate network congestion and improve user experience. To achieve this, VEC needs to address resource allocation and pricing problems and develop caching and transcoding strategies. However, existing works have not effectively coordinated and resolved these issues. Towards this end, we propose a game-theoretic multi-bitrate video caching and processing method for VEC. Specifically, to address these interdependent issues concurrently, we first incorporate multidimensional strategies into the system model and formalize the profit maximization problems of the network service provider and multiple video providers (VPs) as a constrained multi-objective optimization problem. Second, we transform the problem into a Stackelberg game and identify a Nash equilibrium as the solution. To solve the game problem, we decompose the game process into two stages focusing on resource competition and price determination, respectively. Then, we address the problems of transcoding and caching strategies development, and resource allocation in parallel across varying resource price conditions. The transcoding strategy is determined based on the constraints imposed by delay, value, and the source video. For the caching strategy development and resource allocation, we transform them into two grouped knapsack problems and apply the "dominant strategy» from game theory to identify the "feasible strategy» of VPs. Finally, we determine the resource prices in a traversal manner. Theoretical analysis shows that our proposed method achieves the optimal solution. Experimental results show that our algorithm achieve a 6.04% increase in overall profit compared to the greedy strategy algorithm. © 2025 IEEE.

Modified Bat Algorithm: a newly proposed approach for solving complex and real-world problems

Bat Algorithm (BA) is a nature-inspired metaheuristic search algorithm designed to efficiently explore complex problem spaces and find near-optimal solutions. The algorithm is inspired by the echolocation behavior of bats, which acts as a signal system to estimate the distance and hunt prey. Although the BA has proven effective for various optimization problems, it exhibits limited exploration ability and susceptibility to local optima. The algorithm updates velocities and positions based on the current global best solution, causing all agents to converge toward a specific location, potentially leading to local optima issues in optimization problems. On this premise, this paper proposes the Modified Bat Algorithm (MBA) as an enhancement to address the local optima limitation observed in the original BA. MBA incorporates the frequency and velocity of the current best solution, enhancing convergence speed to the optimal solution and preventing local optima entrapment. While the original BA faces diversity issues, both the original BA and MBA are introduced. To assess MBA’s performance, three sets of test functions (classical benchmark functions, CEC2005, and CEC2019) are employed, with results compared to those of the original BA, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Dragonfly Algorithm (DA). The outcomes demonstrate the MBA’s significant superiority over other algorithms. In addition, MBA successfully addresses a real-world assignment problem (call center problem), traditionally solved using linear programming methods, with satisfactory results. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Emotions are intrinsic to human nature, playing a vital role in human cognition. Emotions are closely intertwined with rational decision-making, perception, human interaction, and human intelligence. EEG has emerged as a promising tool for investigating the neural aspects of emotions. The primary objective of this study is to identify distinguishing features in EEG data and determine suitable classification techniques for categorizing of human emotion EEG-based approach for detecting mental states i.e., relaxation, neutrality, and concentration. To validate this research, a publicly available dataset EEG Brainwave mental state is utilized. Twenty-five temporal domain features were extracted from this dataset. Correlation-based feature selection technique is applied to select the significant features for the classification of three mental states. The selected EEG features are classified using four distinct classifiers. It is evident from the results, that the Random Forest achieves the highest classification accuracy of 98.61%. The proposed framework outperforms prior emotion classification methods in terms of electrode count and accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Locating objects Non-Line-of-Sight is an important challenge in many fields such as defense applications, autonomous vehicles, natural disasters, etc. With the advancement of signal processing techniques, there has been an increased interest in the detection of objects in hidden areas. In this respect, audio signals have a strong potential as a low-cost technology for object localization. This study presents an experimental application to detect the location of hidden objects Non-Line-of-Sight based on audio signals. The signals from the sound source strike the hidden object through a reflecting surface, such as a wall, and are received back from the reflecting surface as secondary signals. In this study, object detection can be performed with acoustic sound signals without physically intervening in an area beyond the line of sight and without locating any sensors in this area. The experimental results obtained from the study show that the position detection of an object located Non-Line-of-Sight can be done satisfactorily. © 2024 IEEE.

In this work, we introduce a class of black-box(BB) reductions called committed-programming reduction(CPRed) in the random oracle model(ROM) and obtain the following interesting results:(1) we demonstrate that some well-known schemes, including the full-domain hash(FDH) signature(Eurocrypt1996) and the Boneh-Franklin identity-based encryption(IBE) scheme(Crypto 2001), are provably secure under CPReds;(2) we prove that a CPRed associated with an instance-extraction algorithm implies a reduction in the quantum ROM(QROM). This unifies several recent results, including the security of the Gentry-Peikert-Vaikuntanathan IBE scheme by Zhandry(Crypto 2012) and the key encapsulation mechanism(KEM) variants using the Fujisaki-Okamoto transform by Jiang et al.(Crypto 2018) in the ***, we show that CPReds are incomparable to non-programming reductions(NPReds) and randomly-programming reductions(RPReds) formalized by Fischlin et al.(Asiacrypt 2010).
