Hyperspectral Image (HSI) cross-scene classification is a challenging task in remote sensing, particularly when real-time processing of Target Domain (TD) HSI is required, and data cannot be reused for training. While deep learning methods have shown promising results, the generalization ability of HSI representations remains limited, mainly due to class label imbalance. This paper introduces a dual-stage learning framework based on transfer learning to enhance classification accuracy in the TD. The framework includes a self-supervised learning stage and a supervised fine-tuning stage. The self-supervised stage focuses on learning robust representations by leveraging inherent structures within HSI data, while the fine-tuning stage uses training labels to extract semantic information. A masked diffusion model predicts masked tokens from unmasked ones, capturing both high-level structures and fine details in HSI data. An efficient spatiospectral Transformer, which removes self-attention from the decoder, is proposed to enhance the self-supervised process. This design allows mask tokens to obtain information from visible tokens without interacting with each other, reducing sequence length and computational costs. By decoding each mask token conditionally independently, only a subset of masked tokens is processed. Extensive experiments on two public HSI datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art techniques. © 2025 IEEE.

Survivors of domestic abuse face significant challenges securing recovery resources, such as housing, mental health care, and social connections. Accessing these resources requires survivors to disclose their status as survivors of domestic abuse;a process that can be traumatic and emotionally burdensome. In this work, we consider how social robots might help domestic abuse survivors to address challenges surrounding self-disclosure. To do so, we conducted a three-session co-design workshop involving 8 participants from a domestic abuse shelter. Our results provide three key contributions: (1) new insights into the benefits and barriers to self-disclosure;(2) new insights into the ways that social robots can help survivors to better achieve those benefits and overcome those barriers before, during, and after disclosure, including key design recommendations associated with each of these phases;and (3) observations into how a trauma-informed computing perspective may enable more effective design work in Human-Robot Interaction. © 2025 IEEE.

With the increasing number of end users that are using multimedia services, demand for access network high bitrate systems with sufficient quality of services also increases. However, this might not always be ensured by the telecom operators, as they must perform network optimization concerning Quality of Service (QoS) and multimedia data transmission. In this work, we focused on Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) performance testing with the help of various tools (iPerf, RFC 6349 or ITU-T Y.1564). The Grafana software tool is used to monitor data streams. Measurements were made to limit the downstream bitrate of up to 20 end users at 100 Mbit/s. Based on the repeated measurements, an aggregation curve is modelled indicating the available bitrate with respect to the network load. © 2025 SPIE.

In this era of information technology, abundant information is available on the internet in the form of web pages and documents on any given topic. Finding the most relevant and informative content out of these huge number of documents, without spending several hours of reading has become a very challenging task. Various methods of multi-document summarization have been developed to overcome this problem. The multi-document summarization methods try to produce high-quality summaries of documents with low redundancy. This study conducts a systematic literature review of existing methods for multi-document summarization methods and provides an in-depth analysis of performance achieved by these methods. The findings of the study show that more effective methods are still required for getting higher accuracy of these methods. The study also identifies some open challenges that can gain the attention of future researchers of this domain. © 2023, CC BY.

Securing Pacemakers Using Runtime Monitors over Physiological Signals

Wearable and implantable medical devices (IMDs) are increasingly deployed to diagnose, monitor, and provide therapy for critical medical conditions. Such medical devices are safety-critical cyber-physical systems (CPSs). These systems support wireless features introducing potential security vulnerabilities. Although these devices undergo rigorous safety certification processes, runtime security attacks are inevitable. Based on published literature, IMDs such as pacemakers and insulin infusion systems can be remotely controlled to inject deadly electric shocks and excess insulin, posing a threat to a patient's life. While prior works based on formal methods have been proposed to detect potential attack vectors using different forms of static analysis, these have limitations in preventing attacks at runtime. This article discusses a formal framework for detecting cyber-physical attacks on a pacemaker by monitoring its security policies at runtime. We propose a wearable device that senses the electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmogram (PPG) of the body to detect attacks in a pacemaker. To facilitate the design of this device, we map the security policies of a pacemaker w.r.t. ECG and PPG, paving the way for designing formal verification monitors for pacemakers for the first time using multiple physiological signals. The proposed monitoring framework allows the synthesis of parallel monitors from a given set of desired security policies, where all the monitors execute concurrently and generate an alarm to the user in the case of policy violation. Our implementation and the performance evaluation results demonstrate the technical feasibility of designing such a wearable device for attack detection in pacemakers. This device is separate from the pacemaker, ensuring no need for re-certification of pacemakers. Rethinking Adversarial Attacks in Reinforcement Learning from Policy Distribution Perspective

Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) suffers from uncertainties and inaccuracies in the observation signal in real-world applications. Adversarial attack is an effective method for evaluating the robustness of DRL agents. However, existing attack methods targeting individual sampled actions have limited impacts on the overall policy distribution, particularly in continuous action spaces. To address these limitations, we propose the Distribution-Aware Projected Gradient Descent attack (DAPGD). DAPGD uses distribution similarity as the gradient perturbation input to attack the policy network, which leverages the entire policy distribution rather than relying on individual samples. We utilize the Bhattacharyya distance in DAPGD to measure policy similarity, enabling sensitive detection of subtle but critical differences between probability distributions. Our experiment results demonstrate that DAPGD achieves SOTA results compared to the baselines in three robot navigation tasks, achieving an average 22.03% higher reward drop compared to the best baseline. A key method used in the study of Natural Language Processing (NLP) is sentiment analysis, or emotion analysis, plays a pivotal role in text analysis. Its primary function is to discern and categorize the underlying emotions within textual content, classifying them as positive, neutral, or negative sentiments. A variety of textual inputs can be used with this process, including entire documents, individual sentences, and more. Understanding the sentiments expressed by individuals is of paramount importance to organizations in today’s digital age. Clients and customers now have the means to express their thoughts and emotions with greater ease and immediacy than ever before. This wealth of sentiment data can offer valuable insights that organizations can leverage to enhance their products, services, and overall customer experience. The present study focuses on the sentiment analysis of Twitter data related to the COVID-19 pandemic, employing the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm. To improve the accuracy of sentiment analysis, a pre-processing procedure is introduced, which involves the use of the Neat Text module in Python to clean the tweets. In this research endeavor, a dataset comprising 1,79,107 COVID-19-related tweets is subjected to sentiment analysis using the proposed pre-processing module and LSTM. The results demonstrate an impressive accuracy rate of 96% in accurately determining the sentiments conveyed in these COVID-19 tweets. In contrast, the existing algorithm, based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN), achieved a significantly lower accuracy rate of 76%. This research not only showcases the effectiveness of LSTM and pre-processing in sentiment analysis but also highlights the significance of sentiment analysis in gaining valuable insights from vast amounts of textual data, especially when important events like the COVID-19 pandemic are involved.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to study the structural makeup of the brain and analyse several neurological disorders and diseased areas. For the adoption of preventative measures, early recognition of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients is essential. Here, a thorough inspection of the tissue arrangements obtained by MRI images of Outcome and Assessment Information (OASIS) dataset enables an exact characterization of certain brain diseases. There have been a number of division techniques for diagnosing AD that range in complexity. Compassion has been tested by deep learning techniques used to segment the structure of the brain and classify AD because they have the potential to uncover important information from vast amounts of data. In this paper the deep learning technique of Hybrid Dragonfly based GWO convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is achieved promising result for the diagnosis of AD. At image preprocessing wiener filter is used for removing the additive noises and the Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) extraction is implemented for texture analyzing. As a result, hybrid deep learning methods of CNN has the accuracy as 90% and the result of the image prediction are presented in this paper.

Skin cancer's increasing incidence rates necessitate advanced diagnostic tools. This research uses MobileNet architecture to develop an enhanced system for skin cancer detection. MobileNet's efficient CNN architecture, combined with Keras for model lifecycle management and TensorFlow for real-time inference, forms the foundation of this study. Using 10,015 dermatoscopic pictures from seven different classifications of skin cancer in the HAM10000 dataset, the methodology includes several key stages: image preprocessing to correct illumination and adjust resolution, data augmentation to balance the dataset, and model training using Transfer Learning. The MobileNet model was trained over 50 epochs with a comprehensive architecture incorporating multiple specialized layers. By combining large-scale data analysis and adaptive learning, this methodology demonstrates The revolutionary possibilities of AI and ML in improving skin cancer diagnostics and public health outcomes. The rapid proliferation of intelligent Internet of Health Things (IoHT) applications within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic has exerted significant strain on the backhaul network infrastructure. This paper aims to introduce a novel framework that leverages software-defined networking (SDN) to enhance edge computing capabilities. This framework will expect to facilitate dynamic and adaptable communication between edge and cloud servers, specifically designed to support real-time Internet of Health Things applications. Through the establishment of a connection between servers and the software-Defined Networking controller, the system is expected to facilitate load balancing, network optimization, and the utilization of resources in an efficient manner. This, in turn, enables the provision of real-time healthcare services. Ultimately, the efficacy of the suggested framework is assessed by analyzing its impact on service response time. The research results indicate that the proposed framework significantly benefits IoHT systems’ service response times across various workloads and traffic.
