This paper presents an original theoretical framework to model steel material properties in continuous casting line process. Specific properties arising from non-Newtonian dynamics are herein used to indicate the natural convergence of distributed parameter systems to fractional order transfer function models. Data driven identification from a real continuous casting line is used to identify model of the electromagnetic actuator device to control flow velocity of liquid steel. To ensure product specifications, a fractional order control is designed and validated on the system. A projection of the closed loop performance onto the quality assessment at end production line is also given in this paper.

Recent global emergencies have emphasized the importance of reliable communication networks. With increasing dependence on critical infrastructure, it is no longer sufficient to consider single-link or link-pair failures. Instead, networks must be designed to withstand disasters, considering their interdepen-dence with other infrastructures like the power grid. This paper investigates the problem of the disaster resilient upgrade of interdependent networks, focusing on enhancing network resilience during emergencies and ensuring a service-level agreement. In this paper, we analyze how the interdependency between the networks affects the disaster resilience and propose heuristic methods for network operators to improve resilience against disasters. Using simulations with real networks and earthquake data, we demonstrate that limiting the number of interdependent edges per node significantly affects resilience. Additionally, we show that selecting appropriate upgrade methods can reduce network upgrade costs by up to 25%. © 2023 IEEE.

Historical and current aerial photographs are only of great value if the geolocation or address of the photographed areas is also available. In Western Europe, especially Austria, Germany and Czech Republic, there is a market for the sale of aerial photographs of one’s own private residential building. Automated geolocation is a feasible way to enable the sales agents to assign the addresses for the sale more quickly. In the course of this research work, a process chain is modeled that allows the assignment of aerial photographs to residential addresses using machine vision. After model-based rectifying the aerial images to compensate for perspective distortions, larger image blocks get assembled using image stitching. The assignment to a 2D reference map, such as satellite imagery via Google Maps, is done by applying a U-Net CNN after extracting durable image features such as roads or buildings. The mapping of aerial imagery to two-dimensional cartography is either automated via registration approaches or based on manually placed corresponding landmarks and homography. Test runs on imagery between the years 1969 and 2020 show that the labor-intensive process of geolocation of aerial imagery can be solved by the proposed process model in a hybrid way. © 2022 The Authors.

Retinal prostheses are designed to aid individuals with retinal degenerative conditions such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). These prostheses seek to restore vision and improve the perceived scene by stimulating degenerated retinal cells using retinal stimulating electrodes. While these electrodes allow more efficient interaction with the surroundings, they offer limited *** paper presents an innovative approach to revolutionize the visual perception of retinal prosthesis users. The key idea behind the proposed approach is to fuse information extracted from advanced Meanshift and saliency detection algorithms. This proposed approach aims to improve the perceived scene for users, leading to enhanced visual perception and increased efficiency of retinal prostheses. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper deals with the problem of detecting the malware by using emulation approach. Modern malware include various avoid techniques, to hide its anomaly actions. Advantages of using sandbox and emulation technologies are described. Various anti-emulation techniques that are used in modern malware considered. Obfuscation as one primary approach to hide malware malicious actions described and discussed. State of emulator is presented, and the advantages of its usage are covered. Distributed model for malware detection is considered. Basic emulator and its current capabilities presented. Prepared files that represent malware are described. Experimental results for developed files that differs with included avoid techniques are presented. Disadvantages of proposed approach is described. Future research and sandbox improvement are described. © 2023 IEEE.

Aerial photographs of buildings are often used as memorabilia sold by trading companies. Such photographs come with an issue regarding the address of the shown buildings, since the recording location of the camera may be known, but shows a spatial distance to the actual subject of the image. In addition to that, also this recording location is often not known in detail but only roughly in the form of the flight route/area. To address this problem, a methodology for reverse geocoding is proposed, allowing to identify the position of buildings that are photographed from aerial vehicles. This is done using a process for extending recording locations and a second process based on the registration of invariant features within aerial shots compared to maps. © 2022 University of West Bohemia. In this paper, we explore memory and Schema through the lens of mathematical representation. By defining themes related to cognitive processes, we propose a compression algorithm that measures and retains important information of previous (historic) user-Generative AI interaction. Time and memory are interconnected via a decay mechanism, where context gets more abstract as time passes. At the same time, memories with thematic resemblance can be structured into Schemas using set theory, based on rules influenced by a maturity threshold. This threshold is determined by factors such as criticality, emotional-user interaction, and mass, which is the measure of the summation of related memories. Our approach reconstructs memories into reusable parameters and formulates Schemas, offering a foundation for more personalized and cost-effective human-GAI interactions. © 2024 IEEE.

This article presents an onboard perception-assisted high-fidelity simulation framework for autonomous planetary soft-landing, enabling visual information processing tightly integrated with advanced onboard guidance system in a realistic simulation environments. Utilizing the open source Unity game engine, a physics-based simulation toolbox integrated with the Robotic Operating System (ROS2), we effectively emulate the motion of spacecraft approaching planetary terrain. The simulation environment features a realistic 3D terrain model and a lander spacecraft equipped with onboard camera to effectively capture detailed local terrain images. The simulation engine accurately captures the spacecraft’s 6-degrees of freedom motion, seamlessly integrating space craft orientation with the associated camera feed while incorporating various illumination conditions using a light source representing the Sun. To demonstrate the efficacy of the framework, we implement a recently developed attitude-constrained minimum jerk guidance algorithm to emulate spacecraft motion. Concurrently, the visual feed from the onboard RGB camera is processed through a gradient extraction-based perception system, providing the visual odometer. This system identifies provably safe landing sites, effectively avoiding potential risks of landing on uneven terrain. © 2025, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. With technologies that have democratized the production and reproduction of information, a significant portion of daily interacted posts in social media has been infected by rumors. Despite the extensive research on rumor detection and verification, so far, the problem of calculating the spread power of rumors has not been considered. To address this research gap, the present study seeks a model to calculate the Spread Power of Rumor (SPR) as the function of content-based features in two categories: False Rumor (FR) and True Rumor (TR). For this purpose, the theory of Allport and Postman will be adopted, which it claims that importance and ambiguity are the key variables in rumor-mongering and the power of rumor. Totally 42 content features in two categories "importance" (28 features) and "ambiguity" (14 features) are introduced to compute SPR. The proposed model is evaluated on two datasets, Twitter and Telegram. The results showed that (i) the spread power of False Rumor documents is rarely more than True Rumors. (ii) there is a significant difference between the SPR means of two groups False Rumor and True Rumor. This work presents a new version of the salp swarm optimizer (SSA), called "mSSA," that uses complex mathematical expressions to dynamically manipulate the crucial control parameter (c1) during optimization. These expressions are carefully designed to modulate the shift in search strategy from exploratory to exploitative, improving the flexibility and speed of convergence of the algorithm. To evaluate the performance of the developed mSSA variants, a thorough examination is carried out on twenty-three benchmark test functions alongside their application to the complex task of software module classification. The process of classifying defective software modules involves developing a multilayer perceptron (MLP) classifier that is suited to the particular complexity and heterogeneity of the task. Selecting the best optimizer is made easier by systematically evaluating the different mSSA versions as MLP classifier trainers. Based on metrics like classification accuracy, convergence speed, and avoidance of local minima, a comparative analysis in opposition to six previously published metaheuristic optimizers shows that mSSA3, when combined with the developed MLP classifier, outperforms both other mSSA variations and state-of-the-art metaheuristic optimizers in terms of overall performance. The excellent classification accuracy, swift convergence, and ability to avoid local minima of mSSA3 highlight its superiority and establish it as a cutting-edge method in the application of metaheuristic algorithms. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.
