Oil production estimation plays a critical role in economic plans for local governments and ***,many studies applied different Artificial Intelligence(AI)based meth-ods to estimate oil production in different *** Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)is a well-known model that has been successfully employed in various applica-tions,including time-series ***,the ANFIS model faces critical shortcomings in its parameters during the configuration *** this point,this paper works to solve the drawbacks of the ANFIS by optimizing ANFIS parameters using a modified Aquila Optimizer(AO)with the Opposition-Based Learning(OBL)*** main idea of the developed model,AOOBL-ANFIS,is to enhance the search process of the AO and use the AOOBL to boost the performance of the *** proposed model is evaluated using real-world oil produc-tion datasets collected from different oilfields using several performance metrics,including Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Mean Absolute Error(MAE),coefficient of determination(R2),Standard Deviation(Std),and computational ***,the AOOBL-ANFIS model is compared to several modified ANFIS models include Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)-ANFIS,Grey Wolf Optimizer(GWO)-ANFIS,Sine Cosine Algorithm(SCA)-ANFIS,Slime Mold Algorithm(SMA)-ANFIS,and Genetic Algorithm(GA)-ANFIS,***,it is compared to well-known time series forecasting methods,namely,Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA),Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM),Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(SARIMA),and Neural Network(NN).The outcomes verified the high performance of the AOOBL-ANFIS,which outperformed the classic ANFIS model and the compared models.

ChatGPT, an AI-based chatbot, offers coherent and useful replies based on analysis of large volumes of data. In this article, leading academics, scientists, distinguish researchers and engineers discuss the transformative effects of ChatGPT on modern education. This research discusses ChatGPT capabilities and its use in the education sector, identifies potential concerns and challenges. Our preliminary evaluation shows that ChatGPT perform differently in different subject areas including finance, coding, maths, and general public queries. While ChatGPT has the ability to help educators by creating instructional content, offering suggestions and acting as an online educator to learners by answering questions, transforming education through smartphones and IoT gadgets, and promoting group work, there are clear drawbacks in its use, such as the possibility of producing inaccurate or false data and circumventing duplicate content (plagiarism) detectors where originality is essential. The often reported "hallucinations" within GenerativeAI in general, and also relevant for ChatGPT, can render its use of limited benefit where accuracy is essential. What ChatGPT lacks is a stochastic measure to help provide sincere and sensitive communication with its users. Academic regulations and evaluation practices used in educational institutions need to be updated, should ChatGPT be used as a tool in education. To address the transformative effects of ChatGPT on the learning environment, educating teachers and students alike about its capabilities and limitations will be crucial. © 2023 The Authors

The trend towards smart greenhouses stems from various factors,including a lack of agricultural land area owing to population concentration and housing construction on agricultural land,as well as water *** study proposes building a full farming adaptation model that depends on current sensor readings and available datasets from different agricultural research *** proposed model uses a one-dimensional convolutional neural network(CNN)deep learning model to control the growth of strategic crops,including cucumber,pepper,tomato,and *** proposed model uses the Internet of Things(IoT)to collect data on agricultural operations and then uses this data to control and monitor these operations in real *** helps to ensure that crops are getting the right amount of fertilizer,water,light,and temperature,which can lead to improved yields and a reduced risk of crop *** dataset is based on data collected from expert farmers,the photovoltaic construction process,agricultural engineers,and research *** experimental results showed that the precision,recall,F1-measures,and accuracy of the one-dimensional CNN for the tested dataset were approximately 97.3%,98.2%,97.25%,and 97.56%,*** new smart greenhouse automation system was also evaluated on four crops with a high turnover *** system has been found to be highly effective in terms of crop productivity,temperature management and water conservation.

Language models (LMs) only pretrained on a general and massive corpus usually cannot attain satisfying performance on domain-specific downstream tasks, and hence, applying domain-specific pretraining to LMs is a common and indispensable practice. However, domain-specific pretraining can be costly and time-consuming, hindering LMs' deployment in real-world applications. In this work, we consider the incapability to memorize domain-specific knowledge embedded in the general corpus with rare occurrences and "long-tail" distributions as the leading cause for pretrained LMs' inferior downstream performance. Analysis of Neural Tangent Kernels (NTKs) reveals that those long-tail data are commonly overlooked in the model's gradient updates and, consequently, are not effectively memorized, leading to poor domain-specific downstream performance. Based on the intuition that data with similar semantic meaning are closer in the embedding space, we devise a Cluster-guided Sparse Expert (CSE) layer to actively learn long-tail domain knowledge typically neglected in previous pretrained LMs. During pretraining, a CSE layer efficiently clusters domain knowledge together and assigns long-tail knowledge to designate extra experts. CSE is also a lightweight structure that only needs to be incorporated in several deep layers. With our training strategy, we found that during pretraining, data of long-tail knowledge gradually formulate isolated, "outlier" clusters in an LM's representation spaces, especially in deeper layers. Our experimental results show that only pretraining CSE-based LMs is enough to achieve superior performance than regularly pretrained-finetuned LMs on various downstream tasks, implying the prospects of domain-specific-pretraining-free language models. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Realizing Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) based on large models is emerging as a prevailing trend. However, most existing methods merely regard large models as black boxes, solely leveraging the features output by the final layer while disregarding potential performance enhancements from other layers. Indeed, numerous researchers have visually depicted variations in the features learned across different layers of neural networks. Motivated by this observation, we propose a Vision Transformer (ViT)-based GZSL method named Depth-Aware Multi-Modal ViT (DAM2ViT), which exploits multi-level features of ViT. DAM2ViT incorporates a multi-modal interaction block to align semantic information of categories across multiple layers, thereby augmenting the model’s capacity to learn associations between visual and semantic spaces. Extensive experiments conducted on three benchmark datasets (i.e., CUB, SUN, AWA2) have showcased that DAM2ViT achieves competitive results compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Diffuse horizontal irradiance (DHI) forecasts are critical for adopting solar photovoltaic technology. Yet, they can lack reliability given the limited and uncertain meteorological data available for desert areas. This research develops a new sine cosine dipper throated optimization (SCDTO) technique, targeting DHI prediction even given such data constraints. SCDTO uniquely hybridizes sine cosine metaheuristics, adept at exploration, with dipper throat optimization, providing focused exploitation. This hybridization aims to create a robust ensemble model capable of delivering reliable DHI predictions despite climatic uncertainty. The ensemble model, employing various input combinations, was rigorously evaluated across multiple meteorological stations. The SCDTO algorithm exhibited remarkable performance improvements, yielding substantial reductions exceeding 93% in root mean squared error and 98% in mean absolute error at key stations in Morocco, including Tan-Tan, Zagora, Erfoud, and Oujda. Comparative analyses against established optimization algorithms consistently underscored the superior predictive capabilities of SCDTO. Visualizations, including box plots and histograms, demonstrated SCDTO’s efficacy in minimizing prediction errors, particularly for Tan-Tan, Zagora, and Erfoud stations. Also, statistical validation through one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) further affirmed the significance of the proposed SCDTO method. Therefore, this hybrid metaheuristic optimization enables more accurate DHI predictions from limited meteorological data. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Edge computing plays a critical role in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment as it potentially supports the time-critical IoT applications' resources as well as latency requirements. In the near future, most edge service providers are envisioned to receive revenue from deploying these applications with the expenditures proportional to placing the offloaded requests from IoT devices and allocating the required resources. One way to maximize the edge profit and minimize the response latency is to integrate the edge nodes and form the edge federation. Therefore, edge service providers can have interoperability to distribute the IoT requests on the appropriate edge nodes in the light of providing satisfactory service levels to meet their objectives. Since the edge nodes are volatile and IoT time-critical applications are increasing, the edge nodes are envisioned to face massive traffic from IoT devices. Therefore, exploiting the traditional dynamic requests placement approaches cannot meet the SLA requirement of both IoT devices and edge service providers. In this article, we designed an intelligent reinforcement learning-based request service provisioning system (i.e., here, we call Edge-AI) as part of a smart edge orchestrator in the edge federation. We implement the proposed method, which is called DRL-Dispatcher, and compare it with greedy and random algorithms in edge federation. The experimental results show that the proposed DRL-Dispatcher performs better in terms of profit and low response latency as compared with the baseline approaches. © 1988-2012 IEEE.

The development of the Internet has led to information overload, and how to filter and sift information is a rigorous requirement in all fields. In response to this challenge, recommendation systems have emerged as a valuable tool, offering personalized content and services by efficiently searching and processing dynamically generated information. For students applying to grad schools, finding relevant information can be time-consuming and unreliable from official websites or forums. In light of these challenges, we present a novel solution in the form of an application recommendation platform. Our proposed platform leverages specific open-source datasets and real-time information from platform users using KNN (K-Nearest Neighbor) and CF (Collaborative Filtering) techniques to provide recommendations based on users’ individual backgrounds, we aim to reduce the complexity inherent in information retrieval while simultaneously enhancing the relevance of the recommendations delivered to users. Specifically, we first collect user behavior data, then we will construct the data model and perform some preprocessing on it. Calculate the user similarity, and find out the K-nearest neighbors and rate based on K-nearest neighbors, finally, the recommendation engine is used to calculate the highest-rated items to be recommended to the users. © ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering 2024.
